The Flames give up Kylington, a 2nd, 5th and two 7th?
The Flames don’t touch this one.
Kylington > Kerfoot.

Yeah could be the case, and next summer would be the pressure point for him. I'd just want to gain extras in that 2023 draft.

Haha, have that many Flames fans just been tossing Valimaki in? I actually think Valimaki could be poised for a good turn in his career. Yeah, ultimately Dube could make sense.

I wonder if it couldn't be balanced via the inclusion of a 3rd rounder (similar to what VGK/BUF did in their trade), rather than a player like Dube - so instead of it being a pure 1st round pick, it's effectively them moving back a few rounds.

Yeah...I'm also looking at is as Hanifin is close to Johnny and Chucky, and perhaps it's time to cash in on a Hamonic type return, while also bringing in Klingberg to lessen the blow.

Flames 2023 Offseason
Gaudreau, Tkachuk, and Mangiapane all absolutely reject those deals. That's nowhere close to what they're worth/what they'll sign.

Whats the cost
Mangiapane has zero reason to sign that contract.
$5.5M? You're buying one year, and he's off to free agency at 27 years old. Top-tier underlying numbers, 30+ goal scorer (without being on PP1), great PK'er - he's worth more.
I don't think Chucky would sign for 4 years either - that takes him too close to 30 for his next deal. 2-3 or 8 is what I imagine we see, and anything starting with a 9 is too low (same with Johnny - it'll be 10+).

Stanley Cup Champions
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gary_bettman</b></div><div>hahahaha Wow you are so far from a deal here. It starts with Pelletier + 1st.</div></div>
Generally you don't see top prospects included in deals for rentals. When was the last time a 1st + a top tier prospect like Pelletier was dealt for a rental? Last year Foligno returned a 1st and a 4th, Savard returned a 1st and a 3rd. In 2020 Pageau returned a 1st, 2nd and 3rd (and an extension was in place), and Coleman (with term left) returned Foote and a 1st. So with Hertl being a pure rental, I think the ceiling of what you're looking at is likely a 1st + 2nd + 2nd or a 1st + mid-tier prospect (like Foote), or perhaps a 1st + 2nd + mid-tier prospect.
1st + Pelletier? You won't get that level of return.

Could be the case, but in recent history teams generally haven't received top tier prospects for rentals. How would 2023 1st + 2022 2nd + 2022 2nd - that would be the most significant return a rental has returned in quite some time.

Assuming we can make the playoffs
Flames won't be trading Ryan and definitely shouldn't be trading Ruzicka. Bennett + Sutter looks like a good player/coach relationship, so with how patient they've been to date, I don't imagine they'll be moving Sam until they know it won't work in Calgary.

Optimal Playoff Push
I don't imagine the Flames will be selling Sam Bennett this season. He and Sutter are a perfect mix on paper, and through one game it looks perfect. As Sam said, it's a fresh start. If the player/coach relationship blossoms, Treliving's patience will have paid off.

The Worst BUT Most Likely Offseason Outcome
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SmugTkachuk</b></div><div>This is the sad but accurate truth. Great to stabilize the crease, but it really wasn't a glaring issue last year. Not enough top end grit, a ton of talent, but a very easy team to play against when the top 6 is out there, other than Tkachuk.
I agree with Brodie being a huge mistake, I see Brian Campbell in the sense that those smooth skating d men are great, until they're not and then they're really bad, rather bring back Gutafsson at 3 - 3.5
I still don't like Bennett as a 3C, start him at 4C and see if he can tighten up defensively, he was great at beating up a depleted Winnipeg team but the quick D of Dallas exposed him. I think if you can get another 3C like Haula then you can play Bennett and Ryan on the same line and get Bennett's defensive game to improve. Don't know where that money comes from though.</div></div>
Bennett has earned the 3C spot. Not only has he earned it, but it's also about putting players in a position to succeed - and the 3C is that spot for Benny. Especially as the Flames do introduce more grit into their line-up - they need more minutes for Bennett. Lucic - Bennett - Dube should start together.

The Worst BUT Most Likely Offseason Outcome
Doesn't sound like Arizona is going to trade Kuemper now. Meanwhile, TSN radio had Markstrom not interested in Edmonton or Detroit, but interested in Vancouver, Calgary, Colorado, and Toronto. I think we'll see more change than this in Calgary. Also, 3 years walks Mangiapane straight to free agency - I imagine they'll do a 2 year deal, and then get back to the table one more time.

PIETRANGELO THE FINAL PIECE FOR LEAFS DYNASTY
You aren’t getting Bennett (let alone Bennett +) for Andersen. It’s not happening. It is baffling that so many Leaf fans see that deal as fair, but Bennett has two huge fans (Treliving and Conroy), who have both wanted him to play at centre and they finally have a coach who did it and he lit it up.

Not a deal the Flames would be interested in. I don't think Boston has the pieces to acquire Johnny - mainly because Boston's picks won't be good enough to warrant the move.
