Habs but doubt it
This team you have makes sense, except for the money.
Duclair at 3yrs/2.5M$ makes more sense. Plek will sign again, you know it, I know it, everybody knows it. Hopefully at 1.5M$ or less. Danault will get a "transition contract" for 2 years at 2.5M to 2.9M per. Same for DLR, but at 2M$.
Plek/DLR/McC fighting for 3rd/4th line C.
D makes sense, no nedd to sign guys long term.
Montreal needs to take more contracts like Steve Mason's, combined with decent prospect and picks for low return. Montreal needs to be in the bottom of the league for the next 2 years (sorry Carey/Shea) and concentrate on the 2020-21 season.

Should be a "nice" lineup(feedback please)
I agree with the signing of Duclair, but would lock him for 3 years at a higher salary, like 2.5M$.
Ouellet signing is good.
Not sure why you would get rid of Benn, he's good on the PK, maybe not 82 games a year, but can spell off other guys and he has good value in case of injury.
The Pacioretty trade is not great. What's the point of getting Sammy Blais? Parce qu'il est Québécois? Not sure it`s the right way to go. Tage Thompson makes sense before this year's draft. Not sure the Blues would give up a 1st for 3 years down the road.

I've got a bad feeling about this
Huge Montreal fan here.
Riley Nash has one good season with 41 points. I wouldn't sign him for 4M$ a year; in fact, I wouldn't sign him at all.
I think Lehkonen is a second line RW, he's got sweet hands. Danault is not a 2nd line C, but in the current climate, that's where he has to play. Plek/DLR/McCarron fighting for 3rd/4th line C.
Nicolas Deslauriers has a grit and a huge upside for the money. If he eats minutes on the PK and can get 30 points, he's worth a lot more than what we pay him.
My take on this year's team is to take on a few more bad contracts with decent prospects (like Armia) and draft picks for low return, and concentrate on the 2020-21 season.

Draisaitl-Pacioretty
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bigguycom</b></div><div>Do better.</div></div>
This is for fun man, not paid to do this. Lucic has a hard time following, he's gotten slow.
That being said, Pacioretty's under 30, has several seasons over 30 goals, and makes 4.5 for 1 more year.
Look at the last 5 seasons for left wingers: Only Ovechkin, Marchand (just 1 more) and Benn have more goals. Only the same 3 guys plus Taylor Hall have more points. All of that with no real centers.

I can live with that Habs trade. Don't know much about Josh Wesley, seems like a big body with limited AHL potential.
Would probably do Trevor Carrick instead of Wesley. Say what you want of Benn, but he is NHL caliber as a 5-6 and can eat minutes, especially on the PK.

Signing Lidholm to an offer sheet
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mikemathis555</b></div><div>There is no scenario where you ‘get him for cheap’</div></div>
Agreed. Hence the trade scenario. Yes, first-round picks are worth a lot. However, I think it buys Montreal some time before either of Poehling/Ikonen/Kotkaniemi are NHL-ready.
5X5 is expensive, but Montreal is known to overpay.

Signing Lidholm to an offer sheet
Yes they would. However, there is no "possibility" on the website to work out a trade for an RFA player.
I'm thinking a Kessel-type of trade, where he is an RFA but the Canadiens and the Hurricanes work out a trade, and where the Canadiens have already figured out a contract with Lindholm.
Of course that would probably mean that the 1st and 3rd would still go, but at 23 y.o. with 5 seasons under his belt, do you not think it's worth it?
