I disagree - Flames got an extra C with Kadri + improved Defence in Weegar and need a Winger for a run at the cup. Wings have an excess of good wingers but need a solid 200-foot-C and is in a rebuild. This trade would leave a little bit of a gap defensively for Flames filled by Weegar. But Vrana with Huby and Kadri or Backlund is Solid.
The Bertuzzi for a 1st Round trade could possibly be dismissed and it would still be a fair trade. The gamble would be if whether Vrana would stay healthy, hence the fallback trade of Bert.

StartingLineUp
Slight shift to the lineups - Vrana has good chemistry with Zadina and I think Elmer in a top 6 would be interesting to see. Berggrens playmaking with Kubaliks shot is not to be underestimated, and both of those guys have given solid examples of producing even with relatively little ice time. My lingering question is the best fit for Suter and Rasmussen. My gut tells me Rasmussen is jazz well with Kubalik and Berggren.

True, but he will by 30th Sep.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Logan_Ollivier</b></div><div>PPG is .68 for Bertuzzi and .78 for Nylander, that is not the same thing. Bertuzzi is overrated and Nylander underrated</div></div>
Looking at last season PPG for Bertuzzi was at 0.91 and Nylander 0.99 so gap significantly smaller looking at current level of quality. Whether over or underrated, that is largely subjective.

WhyNot
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Logan_Ollivier</b></div><div>Nylander has played almost double the NHL games as Bertuzzi has almost as many goals as Bertuzzi has points and is far far more durable. He's also coming off an 80 point season with 2 more years of term. How is Bertuzzi equal to him?
This is the usual used car salesmen ship on this site.</div></div>
PPG is almost the same, and that is on a team in rebuild vs Nylander who plays on a top tier team. But even so, as Nylander is a level above, this is why Sebrango (or Lombardi or Savage) is added to cover the gap. The leafs will still need to account for the Cap next year, but that is a 'Then' challenge. Possibly that some salary is retained.
<a href="/users/Caniac2000" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@Caniac2000</a>, if you're considering the vaccination requirement for Canada, that has been lifted, has it not?

WhyNot
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JaredOfLondon</b></div><div>so the leafs get an older, worse player with less term who will be more expensive after this season and a middling prospect and they do this why? This is terrible for the leafs</div></div>
Leafs is in need of a cap dump, Bertuzzi is only 1 year older (and have close to Nylanders stats last year on a worse team) and Nylander is coming up on UFA in 24 anyway. The Leafs will have to downgrade in any case. Question is just in what way. Possibly that Sebrango is swapped out for Savage or Lombardi.

Edmonds Kadri Build
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aedoran</b></div><div>It really depends on the situation. With a players over 30 of course teams will want less term and might pay more to keep the term down. But it's not that easy because players might take a little less to get more term. They are looking to get as much guaranteed money as they can. Kadri had the best season of his career so he is really looking to capitalize on that. I highly doubt he will have another season like this so it basically down hill from here but how many good seasons does he have left? A couple of things that you have consider for Kadri. Colorado is stacked so can produce like this on another team and his suspension history. When he gets frustrated he tends to do things that get him suspended. I have no idea what Kessel is looking for in term and salary but at 34 this will be his last standard contract he signs after this year any contract he signs will be a 35+ contract.</div></div>
Thanks good sir. Much appreciated.

Edmonds Kadri Build
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aedoran</b></div><div>No it's his character and the length of his contract. He gave Chiarot a 4 years and popular perception of player ability aside that was surprising. So far he has done everything slowly. Every move has been made minimizing risk making sure every piece fits before making it more permanent. A lot of people are saying he's trying to speed up the rebuild by signing a bunch of UFAs and I think that it's wrong. This is likely the last season of Detroit being in the lottery and he wants to save the picks he has and Chiarot getting a 4yr deal could've been what it took to sign him and Detroit needed someone on the left side who can play a couple of seasons giving time for some of the prospects to develop. A lot of people are predicting a big move coming and it probably is but I wouldn't expect it until the TDL.</div></div>
This might be a silly question, but is there value in signing someone expensive on a short term to keep the quality up short term? Like signing a 5+million per year player on a 1-2y contract. Like Kessel or Kadri (had he been an option) taking the spot of Rasmussen or Erne?
