Only 1 for 1 deals
I keep seeing this smith for skinner deal and i for one would love to swap. I hace no idea why you'd want skinner @9mil but he's all yours. The main issue is the no move, unlessyou think he's going to get uncomfotable in buf for some reason he's probably just gonna wait it out.

But calling a prospect who’s on a 26 game point streak and one of the biggest ppg players in the CHL meh is, well, a very meh take.</div></div>
Way to much for Crouse. Although i'd expect to over pay a bit, keep in mind he's amiddle 6 guy in arizona and will be a middle 6 guy on any team especially if they're a good team. Savoie could still turn into a top 6 center and rosen is showning he's atleast a middle 6 guy.

What you could do, is keep celebrini as he is likely better than Thompson and cozens in the very near future. You could potentially then move Thompson and his cap hit, then add if necessary, for Tkachuk. You would save Thompsons salary, which you could then use to buyout Skinner. Skinner can block any trade, he's not going to Ottawa. I don't think you can give up a guy like celebrini.</div></div>
First, thankyou for your insight.
Second im not seriois about this, just wondering if ottawa fans would part with thier precious for a new shiny one. More to see how they value Tkachuk, so i dont care about what the sabre could would should do if they got the 1st OA.
I 100% agree with your thoughts.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tjm220</b></div><div>The only way Buffalo should be interested in Foligno would be if Chicago retained half the contract. They overpaid him because they have no intention of being competitive until their younger stars need new contracts, and they need to hit the cap floor. In that respect, Chicago doesn’t exactly have anything Buffalo wants, because we have lots of young players just like the ones they do. And the key players they have are not the ones they would be willing to trade.</div></div>
I don't necesarilly disagree, but i would say chicago would probably love our draft picks and i would like foligno or murphy for the same reasons chicago over pays them (or will) to be there. But your right i wont be disapointed if buffalo doesnt target them. To your point i wouldnt even listen to much else.

I dont know that i'd be interersted in the trade for buffalo. Im only really interested in foligno or murphy if im dealing with chicago. Not that donatos bad, just i wanna deal a little bigger if im paying to drag a guy in here.
I do think you're overpaying krebs. I love the kid but he hasn't had much success. He wouldnt get close to that in a 2 year arb deal, or a 1 year and he'd still be rfa on his next deal.

I'll trade krebs for lee, czikas and JGP! No picks needed. Thats a lot of solid veteran players that do what it takes to win games your giving away. Lee is worth so much more than his goals, cizikas fits krebs role better than krebs, a JGP is great for pk and face off wins.

Greenway has been perfectly fine. I didn't like the move to being him in, but he has been perfectly fine. To think he is at all a problem is quite something</div></div>
The issue is he's been fine. He's very replaceable. When the team is lacking in leadership, defensive awareness, face offs, and physicallity he needs to go so those things can be brought in. Girgensons is a better performing player by far and paid less. We have a system full of prospects that could play up (not my furst choice) and we need skills and talents this roster sorely lacks. Absolutley no reason to keep greenway especially at 3mil. But if your goal is a team thats fine enjoy.

Surprisingly i like most of this. Trade issues have been discussed.
I will say putting anderson with dahlin is like adding suger to chocolate sauce, completely unnecessary. Now anderson & power, thats like chocolate sauce on a dumpster fire, maybe it'll help a bit. I'd like to see okposo get traded to a contender, heck i'd pay for it, a 3rd isnt doing the sabres any good and the guy deserves a shot before his carears over. Heck maybe resign him in the off season and add a guy with cup experience 😆
Finally love the title. It would be awesome if actual GM's openly trolled on capfriendly! A real tim murray post would drive so much traffic.

Im sure your probably right. They do seem to adverse ro any form of improvement.
Do you really need 2 more years of greenway or are you hiring a coach that will actually use him as a bottom 6 guy instead of pretending he's an offensive talent? Does he improve his pk? Is he getting 3mil cuz he's the captain?

I think adams might be better off holding olofsson and letting him go in FA if he can't get atleast a 2nd with retention. He should have traded him as soon as he got the job, if he really has been shopping him, letting some one get him for a 7th just isnt worth it. Ollofsson hasnt earned a cup opportunity through his play (like johnson and Z) or else he'd garner more. Just keep him instead of showing gm's that if you wait long enough sabres will give you a 20 goal scorer for a 7th. Make them deal in FA if they want him. We dont even give 3rd rounders a chance in this organization so why get a 7th.

If you have a team with both Pettersson and Tage? Do you understand that rivals McDavid and Drai? Don't get me wrong, Cozens is a fine young player with plenty of room to grow, but Pettersson is hitting his stride. You make this swap and this changes the team dynamic overnight.</div></div>
I have to call a foul here. Tage and Petey are not Mcdavid and draisaitl comparable. Not even close. I'll give you better than a past thier prime crosby malkin but mcdavid and draisaitl are much better. So much better. Not saying anyones not a star but tage struggles to hit a point a game, petterson is not as good as mcdavid.

I would assume that your asking for cozens because you believe as i do his 7mil deal will be a steal in a few years. In which case this is way better than the eichel deal. Krebs has failed to do anything of note in the nhl and tuch was on the 3rd line in vegas. Also while buffalo seems determined to fail every year I don't think anyone though adding jack eichel would lead to thier worst season in franchise history making thier 1st 16th overall. Instead of krebs on the bubble you get ostlund pure and untouched, instead of tuch entering the back of his deal coming from 3rd line you get a young dylan cozens whose locked up and plays as a second line center, your 1st will most likely be top 10. Every piece is better than the eichel deal.

If you wanted to offer something to the sabres for Mittsits going to have to be a veteran player with intangibles. Honestly josh anderson would make more sense the harris. Picks, prospects and young talent we have in plenty. Nhl players that can hold a lead, kill a penalty, and in general just not try something stupid for 12 minutes a night for some reason we are in short supply.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Coachchippy</b></div><div>How?</div></div>
So cuz i kinda got dragged into this i will say mika's next to a point a game right now. His 2way play has been pretty good but yes all in all he's struggling, but across the board the team is getting the job done. He's part of the team.
Also you can't ignore the past, what has he done lately is a fair thing to ask but to evalute a player soley by thier last 30 games is isn't fair or logical. He's your 1c, undisputed and has been. He's lead the league in face offs at a few times thats a big benifit. You really don't deserve a good team if your going to complain about Zib's. You could be calgary, anahiem, ottowa, and yes you could suck as much as buffalo! Our 1c is probably gonna get 40 goals, probably won't win over 40% face off's. We're not tearing up the standings, is goals the problem?
As to being soft the whole teams took a turn that way, you fired Gallant. Whole darn leagues headed that way. :(

Actually everyone "needs" to get to the cap floor. And it helps if you get paid when doinging. Even more if you get a guy who could support a developing team. So i'd say its fair to say RyJo's full contract could help meet a need. Don't need help jumping off a bridge but with the right equipment and supervision (ie. help) it can be more fun.

Sabres Key Decision Season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kingcong3930</b></div><div>It's not walking anyone to UFA status except UPL.
All of Ryan Johnson, Krebs, Peterka and Quinn would have 2 years left of RFA eligibility after these deals are up.
They would have $11M to spend on 5 to 6 bottom of the roster players to bring in, with the expected $92M cap limit in 2 seasons, and that's if they don't just go with internal promotions at forward, like Rosen and Savoie.</div></div>
So it's not that they're going to ufa its that your closing the gap from now to then and paying them, not an unfair, full price. As if they were complete and developed. Now 2 years from now they very well be openning the season as solid nhl players but for now these guys all have more to learn and a 50-60pt guy with 7 seasons under his belt @ 27 is worth that or more with intangibles, but 22 year olds with 3 season and they just reached those point totals fir the first time....if you cant get a better than market deal i would feel you gave to trade at least 1 of them to open the roster space for some one whose proven consistently over many season they can play a solid game and put up 50+pts.
Also im coming from a point where the teams not going to magically improve just because its next year. So whose your go to face off guy? Whose shoring up your PK? Who's the captain? At the money your offering it better be mitts and JJ but it isnt yet so its hard to justify.
I should say tho that i think your right, what you have here is what will probably happen.
We'll still be one of the youngest teams, we'll have less leadership and the only real experience on the roster will be that of losing consistently at the nhl level.
Here's to hoping im horribly wrong 🍻

At full price no less. Im all for holding off on too many long term contracts but if you're not going to get FA years out of the deal why pay top dollar?
I'm not saying you should rip players off but you need 4 more players on this team and have about 5 mil to spend doesnt leave much wiggle room. Plus thats only 1 extra (7)defensemen and the sabres need at least 8 to start the season so they can pick one up on waivers, call a guy up, maybe trade picks for a bubble guy and get 11ish by mid season.

No. Thats ridiculous. You're not getting the face offs, offensive ability or years of experience on top line minutes with chytil. I'm not sure you get more than the first for chytil while he's on IR he's a bad season away from not earning his contract or a next step away from being a great player, avs could use a solid center but im not sure he's the guy.
Now the sabres, trade you a 1st and prospect easy. Your not getting a 4th overall guy for him but they're more in need of what he brings if we've seen his best.

Thats a lot of years to hold onto 2mil, AV's would be crazy not to take that deal. They'd be paying zib 6.5 aav to be thier 2nd line center and every piece they're giving up is replaceable. Byram maybe not replace but you could supplement a lesser piece without worrying much and having zib as your 2C for the next 6 years at 6.5 would be an insane advantage.

I'll take that deal for buffalo all day. You do know he's got 2 more years on that deal right? Kinda of pricy for a 6th dman. Cliftons a great player but only if he's cheap. Unfortunately he's just not going to give you much more than a lot of guys out there getting between 1-2mil. Better to get more out of your top guys and have that extra 1-2mil left over to pay the right 2nd pair guy or middle 6 winger.
