Description
So i this came up because i went on tankathon for the first time this season, hit the button, and the buffalo sabres won the lottery. What to do, add another 1st OA pick to the roster or trade it for some absurd return. I noticed ottawa had a nice set of 1st rnd picks to start an offer and looked at some add ins and then i had to wonder ottawa fans
WOULD YOU MAKE THIS TRADE FOR CELEBRINI?

No, and I'm one of the Sabres fans that would offer a lot for Tkachuk. What you could do, is keep celebrini as he is likely better than Thompson and cozens in the very near future. You could potentially then move Thompson and his cap hit, then add if necessary, for Tkachuk. You would save Thompsons salary, which you could then use to buyout Skinner. Skinner can block any trade, he's not going to Ottawa. I don't think you can give up a guy like celebrini.

First, thankyou for your insight.
Second im not seriois about this, just wondering if ottawa fans would part with thier precious for a new shiny one. More to see how they value Tkachuk, so i dont care about what the sabre could would should do if they got the 1st OA.
I 100% agree with your thoughts.

Buying out Skinner is a pointless and stupid idea, especially for the upcoming season. The Sabres don’t need the money at least until next year when Quinn, Byram, and Peterka need new deals. Aside from the fact I think Gary Bettman would die of a heart attack, which might actually be good for hockey, the rest of the NHL would be pissed if Buffalo won the draft lottery. let’s be honest though, It would be hysterical.

I'm just gonna stick to the question that was asked of "Sens fans, would you trade Tkachuk for Celebrini" and while this might be considered foolish by others, I think my answer would have to be no. not that I think that at their primes, Tkachuk will be a better or more valuable player than Celebrini, because who knows. But yknow, you factor in all the usual things with Tkachuk. heart of the team, star player, long-term contract, captain, cornerstone of the rebuild, all that jazz. then Ottawa would also have to think about how this delays the rebuild even more, and makes the (hopefully) competitive window even more wonky.

It's possible that the Sabres next coach isn't going to want Skinner around. Depends on who it is, Skinner can still produce at 5v5, maybe having him freewheel on the third line with a better two way center and a power forward that plays two ways, like greenway- would be a way to keep him out of the way. If it's brindamour, skinners style of hockey isn't gonna be compatible with life. Personally I want him gone, but I respect that if we move him before his contract is up, it's gonna hurt.
As far as winning the lottery, at 3%, I'm not holding my breath. I am pretty sure that when bettman dies, the epitaph on his tombstone is gonna read "see, I told you hockey would succeed in the sunbelt".

The odds of Buffalo winning the lottery are so slim It’s silly to consider the possibility. But that is what would make it so funny if it actually happened. There would be bellyaching across the league of how Buffalo doesn’t deserve it, and we’re just going to destroy another potential star player. And don’t forget the accusations of tanking, despite the fact that we finished outside the top 10.

not enough, for BUF to pry Brady out of OTT, you know a team OTT plays 4-5 times year, a team OTT competes with for a payoff spot, a team OTT may face in the first round of playoffs if both teams make it, BUF would need to overpay so much it would hurt.

Tbf likely we could. He isn't a bad player just overpaid but if Norris hits LTIR he'd fit fine.
