Columbus should just keep the 12th.

There was a possibility of this kind of trade being considered before they extended Roslovic. Now that they have I really doubt they would consider it since they have Roslovic, Boone, Sillinger and Kuraly with Johnson, Danforth and Gaunce able to step in at center if needed. I'm sure they'd sooner draft a center or two at 6 or 12 and then hope they get their top 6 centers for the future covered by Roslovic, Sillinger, Johnson and whoever they draft.

Looking at what could and should change
Honestly, I can see Bjorkstrand getting moved but he's incredibly valuable to the Blue Jackets so it's not a trivial decision. He is our best defensive forward by quite a lot and his absence would be felt throughout our lineup. If we have a Cirelli, Eriksson-Ek or Danault type forward and/or Val Nichuskin on the roster I would feel more comfortable about moving Bjorkstrand. If Bjorkstrand+ gets us a superstar I think we can pull that trigger too (Meier, Kyrou) but I think in this case Voracek probably has to go unless he plays in a 3rd line role.
I agree with the having too many students on the blue line bit, but I'd love to trade a combo for a straight upgrade. Chychrun is the piece in the rumor mill and I think he'd be great. If we can't get an upgrade that makes sense for the future, I am ok waiting on these guys. I know we had a lot of students, but I thought our coaching and system left a lot to be desired in the D zone. There's no reason players like Bean, Gavirkov and Boqvist should be that bad at exiting the zone. (This could also be due to having bad defensive players like Laine, Voracek, Roslovic, Chinakov and Sillinger playing, despite some of their improvements).
Bemstrom definitely does seem like surplus at the moment but he's got a great shot and made great strides on the other side of the ice. He feels primed if he gets playing time and a consistent role. Maybe the best case for development is to find time for Johnson and Chinakov in the AHL and give Bemstrom, Tex, Foudy and Marchenko a year in the NHL so we can clarify what these guys are.
A pretty good assessment, now time to put your stones on the line and pick out trades you would make!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Civil_Eng_PE</b></div><div>I will die on the hill saying this team (if they can remain healthy, like Boone/Laine/Zach/Boqvist only missing a handful of games max) will be pushing for a playoff spot this year and could make it in, especially if Boston falls off.</div></div>
There are too many reasons to believe they can be a better team next year.
- Elvis is going to be much further along in recovering from the trauma of Kivi's death
- The defense is not going to be starting out with 4 players at less than 100 games played each.
- They lost more wins due to injury than almost every other team in the league last year
- The offside discipline simply can't be any worse than it was this year (9 goals lost due to offside)
- Johnson, Marchenko and Blankenburg are all new additions for a full season.
- The team is going into year two of a brand new system and will have a more well established understanding of what is expected of them by Larsen
I am fully expecting them to be a part of the playoff bubble right down to the final games of the season.

I'd say keep Bean, you paid a 2nd for him, might as well try to get close value back, Christiansen and Blankenburg can alternate as the 6th D, i know Tex-Kuraly-Robinson was a great line but swap Tex and Danforth, Tex shouldn't be on the 4th line

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DankoCBJ</b></div><div>Okay. Care to share what Vancouver needs?</div></div>
Draft picks, preferably early ones. RHD to play with Quinn Hughes. I highly highly doubt JT Miller gets traded without any of those assets in return. He’s on pace for 100 points this season. Some thing like Boqvist and one of your first round picks might get Allvin to pick up the phone

Impressive Blankenburg changes defence look for CBJ

I like Peeke next to Zach personally. Not sure about OP's thought process but I don't think Blankenburg is the guy for that. I think Werenski-Peeke, Gavy-Boq, ShutdownLHD-Blankenberg would be the desired look, giving every pair a more skilled dman and a more defensively focused d-man

You don't follow the Habs so I assume you didn't see any of Hughes press conferences where he said the plan is to be competitive next year and he was not having a fire sale. Montreal already has several LHD prospects who are equal to or have the potentialto be better, therefor Bean to Montreal does not work.

One game, but I was very impressed. Can certainly get behind Blankenburg if he looks good in the next few and doesn't fold vs tampa/pit. He looked really good last night. Also the kind of guy that I will always root for

If we just re-sign our own RFA players
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>A_Habs_fan</b></div><div>Imo at defence, you’re fine, Werenski, Gavrikov, Bean, Peeke and Boqvist is a good mix of young players, talented players, and experienced players and you add Christiansen, Carlsson, Bayreuther possibly someone like Blankenburg fighting for the 6th spot. You do need a top Center but considering that amazing winger depth, there maybe a player swap to be made to get one. Also, imo Stenlund’s probably staying in the AHL at this point and someone like Angle could get a shot over him</div></div>
This is a good group but it's a group who gives up an insane amount of cross ice passes and defensively one of the worse defenses this year. IMO Sign Booshkin or trade Bean for a more defensive dman

Moves to defence because we let in too many goals
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DankoCBJ</b></div><div>I get that the Gavrikov-Boqvist and Bean-Peeke pairings have been okay but is it enough improvement to bring just one guy in? I mean Peeke is a work in progress and Boqvist and Bean need to improve so much defensively..
That is most likely to happen but i personally think they should add two guys and get rid of one that struggles defensively.</div></div>
I don’t disagree, but I also don’t see it happening. I don’t think Columbus is in much of a hurry to be ultra competitive, I think they are in a position of give it a few years get some top end draft talent and then go for it. I think, or I hope at least, Jarmo has realized it’s not good enough to be getting 10-20 draft picks, we need to get some top 5 picks picks to build around to make the team ultra competitive.

I’d rather hold onto bean than just break even with him.
Ilya is my ideal off-season target. He’d be the ideal fit with werenski or gavrikov. He’s someone I would overpay for. Our dzone defense is terrible while our rush defense is fairly good considering our personal. Ilya specializes in the dzone while being weaker off the rush.

If not him, a similar player would be welcome, too...

By 2023 Cuelamens should be ready, I’d be hard pressed to say he isn’t ready for limited minutes next season. I could also see Columbus grabbing one of the RHD with a 1st round pick this season, Nemec or Jiricek would be a great add.

I would move nyquist at this deadline for a bigger return. Since whatever team getting him gets him for 2 cup runs. Plus 2 years retained is expensive. The assets that could be gained would outweigh his current level of play.

I would be willing to add a small piece to this offer if needed. I really really like Murphy. (Columbus connection aside) he is exactly what werenski needs as a partner. Peeke has been a bright spot but isn’t ready yet. This next year if we resign laine and Kent is ready. We should be back up in a wild card spot. We should start looking to bolster the backend with middle age/ youngish talent.
