I would top out at $6M for him but Aedoran is right about perception being in TO. From what I've seen and heard over the years he's been given a rougher ride than others.

That being said if the deal was right having Gus on a line with Larkin and Matha would be amazing</div></div>
If he gets a 2-3 yr contract and can produce, he could be the Vet of the crew. lol. They'll still be bad next year and he would have tons of ice time to prove he can play in the league.
but this is all depending on what Stevie sees in Svech and some of the others coming up. He could still turn out to be healthy and productive.

what about Glendening and Svech as a package for a starting point for Gusev and Reeves then?

It's better than being a poor team where you have to overpay UFAs to come and play for your team.
Think the Leafs overpaid for Matthews and Nylander but besides that the the Leafs look cap OK...though we'll see what Marner brings. Hoping the Aho contract kinda set the bar for the reamaining RFAs.</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Regarding Werenski, IMO almost always bad business to sign othe teams UFAs. A few good drafts, having some cap space, Wings can be right in the playoff mix soon. Of course with so much parity, lots of teams are in contention Wings will have those expiring contacts soon, more cap than a lot of other teams probably. With Yzerman and a great owner, I wouldn't worry about the Wings doing the right things to get the team on track.</div></div>
i agree. I don't want a Toronto situation 2-3 years in where everyone want $10 mill as soon as they compete. Right now, no one deserves to be paid more than Larkin unless they show they are better. It will take huge seasons for Mantha and AA to ask anywhere near him. Defense is a little different until they clear the vets. They are all gonna need contracts in a couple years.

Agree with aedoran above.....save your cap and spend it wisely. Maybe next summer Wings can sign Trouba as UFA.....a guy who wants to play in Detroit all things being equal.</div></div>
I'm sure Werenski will resign with CBJ too. And I still have a 50/50 thought of them getting Trouba. 50% to Detroit, 50% to anywhere else. lol

I do like the first 2 trades Carolina uniting brothers is always a fan favorite and Detroit is still pretty high on Hicketts becoming a solid defenseman. Now with Pope since Zadina, Veleno, Hirose and Kuffner have been added you don't hear much about him.</div></div>
I think it's one of those things where a player with less talent but works harder and makes the others better. if that makes sense. My worry is that he gets paid to be a top guy but then gets pushed down to 3rd line in the next few years with new prospects and then looks overpaid.

dude. just like the first post I did. It's for fun. No one thinks Stamkos is getting traded. the whole point of this website is to do these. lol
Everyone knows they need help on the backend. There are no Dmen to go for this year anyways.
As I said last time. Teams NEVER empty a pipeline. Look what Kessel got traded for after 2 big years with Pitts.
And to not want a consistent player like Stamkos is ridiculous.
I've seen your teams you make. You think wasting a space on Flippula at 35years old is a good idea. Or we will somehow make an offer for Kyle Conner,
But I didn't go on your post and tell you to stop.
just don't comment if you don't like it. pretty simple dude.

I like that package, having fun with it. Red Wings do need to see what the kids are going to do this year. They would probably ask for AA to start instead of Ras I would imagine.
I hope Cholo has a great year and even Veleno pushing someone to the side.
I think Yzerman holds on till the TDL before doing anything much.

Off the Grid How about Stamkos
IDK. I get what you're saying. But he's putting up the same numbers as when he was 20. lol.
Trades never empty a pipeline...It's usually a decent player, a prospect or two that most casual fans don't know and some picks. (I live in Ottawa and have seen the disastrous trades they've made to move their stars. lol)
And if he's still putting up good numbers at $8.5 mill in a few years, he would be a steal. Ovie is 33 and has been as consistent as Stamkos. So I would expect the same production.
Of course someone is going to pay more for Duchene this year for a player one year younger and is already at his peak.
( And I don't think they will do anything this year and wait it out till next year. I hope so anyways.)

Wings in playoff contention
You under paid Gardiner and probably Zuccarello and overpaid Connolly. Frk won't be back either. Svech and Zadina are rumored to be in the minors to start unless they have a great camp.
I'm not interested in seeing them sign anyone already in their 30's during the rebuilt, so Zuccarello wouldn't personally be a choice of mine.

Ok. Why would they take on a player that isn't coming back to the NHL at anytime soon? Giving up on Bowey after 17 games just to get a 5th round pick?
Fine. Take Miroslav Blatek at 37 years old off the reserve list. Makes about as much sense.

How would Hoffman look
I get what you're saying. I don't know exactly what Hoffman is worth.
the idea would be to resign him for maybe another 2 years giving them a 25-35 goal scorer while Zadina and those guys develop. Then Hoffman would be around 32yr old and still have time to join another team. I would rather Hoffman than Nyquist returning for instance. And someone like Helm would have to be moved.
