V5 League Wide Announcements
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>nickthehabsfan</b></div><div>:nhl
With the offseason arriving we would like to set some dates in stone for upcoming events... Starting today through June 30th buyouts will be allowed to take place. See the <a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/723831">buyout thread</a> for directions on buying players out.
The 2023 Entry Draft will begin on June 19th and will finish on June 26th. See the <a href="https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1tjR2FoPU8U8BczOOO3DC69xmcpES8RzjN6DEuySGbSw/edit?usp=sharing" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">draft sheet</a> for pick order. Pick deadlines will be posted on that sheet before the start of the draft.
UFA bidding will begin on July 1st making June 30th the deadline for UFA re-signs. The RFA re-sign deadline will be on the second to last day of UFA bidding. All unsigned RFAs will have their own bidding day towards the end of the bidding process.
- BOG</div></div>
Just wondering if you guys really thought this through.
Starting in game UFA on the same day as IRL free agency begins, plus it's a Saturday and national holiday for us in Canada.
Surely there could have been a better date that doesn't filter into both Canada Day and July 4th for those in the US

The Sanheim contract is rough, but I still believe Sanheim can contribute more long term to the Flyers than Provorov. Provorov looks like he doesn't GAF and is checked out: get him out!

Pay up for a low cost RW with control
Where do you actually “pay up” for Tippett? Yamo is worth like a 4th, the 2nd is late, and Broberg is the same position as the deepest spot on our team at LHD with multiple prospects already looking to fight for spots. There’s nothing exciting here for the Flyers

filling needs through excess assets
As an outside perspective this looks pretty fair, seems both sides benefit in most deals, I can see Nashville having some contention to giving up this years first because of how loaded the draft is, and I think the Flyers are pretty high on cates and likely aren't interested in moving him for Garland.

I'm not sure how other Wings fans feel, but I'd honestly rather we do a deal like this for TK or Keller than the DeBrincat trades that show up every day for similar costs

Helping the Leafs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DirtyDangles</b></div><div>100% agree.
Then we draft say a Benson in this draft and maybe top RD next year and your year 3 (if this offseason is year 1) looks like this...
Farabee/Coots/Tippett
Frost/Gauthier/Foerster
Robertson/Cates/Zadina or Brink
York/2024 RD Draftee
Sanheim/Timmins
Andrae/Attard
We aren't far off.</div></div>
Agreed. It's funny how majority of these players were drafted by the two worst GM's (historically) in Flyers history. If they pan out, sort of like an Ed Wade situation with Howard, Hamels, Utley, etc. Remains to be seen if these guys get to that level, but the above lines look pretty solid to me.
And then, with all that cap space, you can start supplementing your roster with an elite talent in free agency and some other glue guys. I even think this could be the lineup in year 2 also, depending on the performance this year of course.

Helping the Leafs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hammerwise</b></div><div>too generous to the leafs, Timmins and Robertson are probably worth a 3rd each or one of them is a throw in to take murray, so you only getting a late in the round 1st and an approx 3rd for laughton and roslovic witrh 2 mil retained.
That PHI defense is pretty meh and I doubt PHI sits on 16mil in cap space</div></div>
I would love for them to sit on that space and be a player for someone in the 24 off season - IF, they take another step forward next year AND their 1st round pick from '23 is a lock to be on the NHL squad. I see Foerster and Attard as guys who can certainly take the leap to be every day NHLers, and good ones at that. If Tippett, York, Frost, Cates can all reach another level and Coots comes back and is the player he used to be, or even 90%, I think people can see that this rebuild could only be a season.
Very optimistic but still, one can dream.

Big moves for Philly
Both of these moves suck for Philly lol. That is the cost to move Campbell’s horrible contract u didn’t even pay for Hart. Then we give up TK our best trade chip and Sanheim for a crappy goalie, a 25 year old that has barely played in the league, and Hanafin that wouldn’t wanna play here anyway I mean these are just awful lol. You didn’t even sign York, Cates, or Frost 😂😂😂😂

Leafs take that all day, gives them laughton for the 2nd or 1st lw line and a 3C, and leaves them with 11.8 mill for 3RW, 4LW, and a RD preferably top 4 like Graves or Orlov

No way they deal Cates. Doubt he’d realistically fetch the value that would making trading him worth it. Laughton probably costs a late 1st or 2nd+ a bit.

Scott Laughton! Thank you! That’s who I was thinking of ahha. Yah I don’t understand why they decline too. He is an underrated player. VERY underrated! If the oilers can get the cap, I would trade for him! He’s the perfect top 9 forward that a lot of teams need in my opinion.

Toronto has the assets it would just be an overpay lol. It’s being widely reported the Flyers want a 1st, 2nd, and B-level prospect for Provy. If they are gonna retain almost $3M that price jumps up even higher
