<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dmh1055</b></div><div>The contracts for Provorov and Konecny are not that discounted. If the Flyers are in the $6 million area on Provorov I hope they get him for more than 4 years. Konecny is probably about right on a 3 year deal. I don't see all the concern over cost if all you want to do is add Pominville or someone like him.

I'd suggest they move Laughton to 3rd line wing. He's proven capable of producing 15 goals a year. He's a solid stop gap 3rd line wing if necessary. If all goes well Frost or Farabee join the team on the 3rd line. Save the cap space and get TK and Provorov signed to proper deals.

I would want a veteran 4th line center under that plan. They should be able to get Marcus Kruger, Ryan Carpenter, or Bellemare fairly cheaply. If they're cheap I might even sign two of them. One as a 4th liner and the other as a 13th forward. I also would rather keep Hagg as defensemen depth than carry a player like Bailey. Aube-Kubel will either win a job or play for the Phantoms.</div></div>

I think most Flyers fans wouldn't be happy with a Bellemare signing, but I wouldn't be opposed. However, I think the "current" 4th line is one of the brighter spots on this team. But I can see the argument of getting a stop-gap if Laughts were to move to the 3rd line.

As for the Provy and TK deals, I have a feeling TK will get more than what I have listed, but I think the Provy deal is pretty close (if he signs a bridge). Appreciate the input!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dmh1055</b></div><div>Very interesting points. Well thought out. It's tough to evaluate Nugent Hopkins production. Obviously he produces a significant portion of his points through time with McDavid. That being said he still produces without him. And Edmonton you have to admit has a pretty putrid offensive situation outside of Nugent Hopkins, Draisaitl, and McDavid.

So the purpose of this trade was an effort for Edmonton to improve their overall team and improve their cap outlook. Obviously this trade will not work. Edmonton may not have any package they can reasonably put up to acquire Parayko outside of Nugent Hopkins or Draisaitl. It would be foolish for Edmonton to make a one for one trade though. Edmonton doesn't have the type of futures needed to get Parayko.

St. Louis has already made many significant moves to return to contender status with little to no success. A trade of Parayko has to drastically improve their offense or their goaltending. It's highly unlikely they will find a trade partner that will offer the kind of return that will actually improve their team.</div></div>

Yup. All well said.

Certainly just my opinion...but I like the Blues' lineup...to be the only thing they were missing all season was reliable goaltending. They have been getting that recently with Binnington and their recent record kind of speaks for itself.

In all my discussions with Blues fans on this site (and I will say...I find their fan base to be great to chat hockey deals with)...they are willing to listen to reasonable Pietrangelo offers as they aren't sure if he'll remain on the team past next year....but Parayko is a cornerstone piece for them...and it'll take a massive offer (or an equally painful player to part with)..to get them to consider a Parayko deal

As a Blues fan, it has been interesting reading some of the above poster's arguments about Ghost. If this proposed trade were to occur, I like it from a Blues perspective. solely because I like Rubstov. Gudas would fit well as a 2nd pair RHD between Parayko and Bortuzzo, who also provides more physicality than Petro does. Ghost then becomes an offensive LHD ahead of Dunn with promise. Both Dunn and Ghost have similar games, so an argument can be made that acquiring Ghost would simply be doubling up on the same player as Dunn for more money. However, someone above astutely commented that selling Ghost now would be selling low, and I would agree, but as a St. Louisan, I'd obviously like that idea. I think Rubstov will become a solid forward in time. The offer of a 2nd round pick is probably lower than the 1st rounder someone will likely give if the Blues do move Petro, but because this deal is more Blues-lopsided, I think it would be acceptable. Basically, as a Blues fan, this trade works well for the Note. I also read above someone arguing that the Flyers have a three year cup window as well as someone arguing Petro is going to be on the wrong side of 30. If the three year window is true, then a 29, 30, and 31 year old top-pair defenseman who plays his best in the playoffs, whose game is not a physical game but one of great stickwork and positioning also works out for the Flyers in that three year window. The back half of his contract could indeed be troublesome, but if Philly wants to shoot for that three year window, then this also becomes a good deal for the Flyers as well. Something to think about...

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dmh1055</b></div><div>The Flyers need a goalie but it doesn't have to be involved in every potential deal. So you think the Hawks would rather trade Saad for prospects rather than what could be a perceived upgrade in JVR on a similarly reasonable contract. I would have zero interest in trading 2 first round picks like you suggested for a 20 goal scorer.</div></div>

I'll first need to admit maybe a subconscious bias here because I am a Hawks fan. I'm not sure that right now there is ANY perceived upgrade in having a 29 year old JVR on his 1st year of a 5 year $7M contract that's coming off an injury. JVR has indeed hit the 60 point mark twice in his 9 full year career. Yes that's two more than Saad. Make no mistake about that, but even then...it was 61 points and 62 points. So it's not as if there's a big upgrade there. AND JVR gets a lot of PP tallies that Saad doesn't. Saad is a 5v5 possession beast that can get his away from the PP. Probably most important is that Saad isn't going to be 33 AND 34 getting paid $7M. The Hawks used to want JVR, but I don't think he's their goal when it comes to spending $7M. I'd much rather got for a guy like Stone that naturally plays RW that can replace Hossa and make that Toews/Saad combo dominant again.

***EDIT*** I'm not suggesting both Frost and the 1st. I'm just spit balling that either one of those should be included...even desired from PHI's perspective. PHI has the talent to win now. Any TDL trade with any kinda of significance will require a 1st rounder.
