The only reasonable JJ option
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mhockey91</b></div><div>I think it’s a pretty fair package to move him. ZAR is a bottom 6 player at best, and Hallender is good, but that’s the price you pay to move one of the worst 3rd pairing D contracts in the NHL. If Rutherford can make both Johnson and Gubranson’s combined 7.25 million cap hit disappear... that would allow Pittsburgh to bring in a really solid LHD. I could see Chicago moving on from Dehaan as he’s struggled this season, and he would look great in a pens jersey.
Dumo-Letang
Dehaan-Schultz
Petterson-Marino
Is a damn solid top 6</div></div>
His cap hit is below average. People act like he has Seabrook's contract. A $3.25M contract on the 3rd pair is nothing to be concerned about (if that is what you are using as a reason to move someone, which you are). Plus, after moving Gubranson with no retention and no cap back there is not cap need to move Johnson either. If someone wants him, fine... but there is no need to pay much to get someone to takehim, and certainly no reason to over-pay for someone to take him.

That is a ridiculous amount to give up just to move Johnson, who doesn't need to be moved, at all.
The most reasonable Jack Johnson option is to actually just stop obsessing with moving him since it is not necessary.

Lines for Saturday vs EDM
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AFOX10900</b></div><div>I don't think Hornqvist can anchor a line anymore, i haven't seen him do much of anything aside from PP time and time with Crosby</div></div>
Horny has 4 even strength goals and 3 assists.
That's better than a lot of other teams 2nd line players.
I'm not going to go any further into that one. He always has a nose for the puck. People don't like his contract because of his age and it's length. But if you look at him as being the guy going to Seattle it's fine. I would trade him at the right price, I think he works for a few teams, namely Boston. He fits their style of play. But I wouldn't move him for nothing.
As for moving jugs. I like the idea of using him to retain salary on a JJ trade teal for a team like Ottawa who can afford it and is desperate for NHL level players. I don't even need a return if they retain 1M on JJ so he can be traded easier.
JJ has played much much much better this year. But IF I can find an upgrade, I'm moving him.
The problem is the "find an upgrade" part. Because if we are being honest about it, most teams 3rd pairing defense men aren't any better.

Might be able to get a 2nd or a 4th and prospect for him. He has some positive value. I do agree he will end up being the odd man out. Jack Johnson contract would be very hard to move without giving up and major part of the penguins future. He’s also not playing to bad that. He seems to be the teams punching bag (from the media)

Why is Bowen Byram in every trade proposal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DonkeyLips</b></div><div>Actually it's not. Byram may be an elite talent. But he is definitely not a player you build a franchise around. That would be MacKinnon for Colorado. For Christ's sake you people on this site are terrible.</div></div>
I would have to agree with him on this one you aren’t going to build your Roster around and Elite Prospect it’s going to be a Generational Talent like MacKinnon Crosby McDavid heck maybe even Kakko or Hughes.

Crosby Is A Crybaby
Tbh I didn’t even waste the time to click the article. It says reasons why Crosby isn’t one of the great players all time? Yeah this is a joke? Him and Ovechkin since their rookie year have been 2 of the most dominant players in the nhl. It’s not unthinkable for them to be in the top 10 all time. I would delete this before actual penguin fans roast you.

Pens should have just bought him out
Marleau's trade deal was that Carolina would buy him out right away. Marleau had no desire to play for Carolina so would only waive if they agreed to buy him out and make him a UFA right away. Toronto was DESPERATE to move Marleau's $6.25M cap hit. Heck, even after that they are still in a grey area cap wise. The Pens are NOT desperate, much less DESPERATE, to move Johnson's contract. It would make things easier, but it is not actually a necessity. Marleau getting dealt was a 100% necessity for Toronto, hence the cost.
