Hughes Bros This would be fun
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DonnyMow</b></div><div>Canucks fans will hugely overvalue Hughes- however I like the deal from a Canucks standpoint. A deep draft and three first round picks this year - Done! Young guy for a couple young guys who may be ready for a shot at the lineup! Frees up a roster spot for Juolevi or Woo or Rafferty in Vancouver. And Quin plays with fire when his brother is on the ice as was shown in the WJC. And Quin will be asking for a boatload of cash in two years when his entry level expires.</div></div>
well butcher would def be in the lineup, mcleoud would try to earn a spot, and honestly it's prob over valuing hughes, but you'll need to to pry him...idk how vancouver says no rationally, but they might lol

Some big moves in Van City
I think Calgary would prefer to keep Tkachuk as much as Boeser is the type of player they need (RHS sniper). Plus there's not a chance Tkachuk inks for $5.7M AAV even with the term taking him straight to UFA. If he would the Flames would have already given him that deal.
I expect Calgary matches a 4 x $2.7M deal for Bennett as Treliving has been on record numerous times saying he likes the player. I think the term on that deal is a bit longer than ideal, but at only a 2nd rounder as compensation they have to match.

If he is 3rd line then WOW you have a strong team! His faceoff numbers were excessively high due to injuries IMHO. Beagle was supposed to ease that....Sutter was supposed to ease that....Pettersson is a winger....so that leaves Captain Bo! PErfect for any second line on any team- even the Leafs would love to have him .... although there he may be a 3rd liner I guess LOL.</div></div>

Vancouver Canucks signed Tyler Motte (1 Year / $975,000 AAV)
Motte was a decent 4th liner, never seemed to get the chance to do much else, but put in a good effort. good on the pk. 1yr deal is fine. The Canucks have to figure out what they have in Goldobin,Leivo and Virtanen, are they 2nd liners? (like they were sometimes used) or 3rd (more likely) or just good 4th liners (Leivo especially) Goldy is on thin ice with the coach, so if he isnt producing and putting in the effort- hes not on the top 2 lines...and therefore will likely be jettisoned.
Their d-corps is fine now, Juolevi is coming off major surgery, so pencilling him in for a top 6 spot now- is premature.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DonnyMow</b></div><div>There are so many holes in the Canuck Roster taken up by old contracts.....but that's because no one has stepped up. Stuck with Eriksson, Baertschi, Beagle, Sutter, Schaller, Motte and and and..... They lost Gaunce (poor development) and Granlund (good fill in but no staying) and will loose Hutton (no room for him now anyway with Benn). Maybe this will allow Baertschi or some other softie to leave the Coast (Sutter, Eriksson)?</div></div>
Agreed, the Leafs could've used a depth player with some experience, though I'm not too concerned about our wingers. The established ones need to work harder defensively, is all.
As for Donny, is Motte really a liability at that price? The other guys though, yeah you have a point. Some aging players and contracts that need shedding.

He spent a lot of time with Boeser on his wing. And how many of his points where pp? He's a good play but compare Vancouver to TO and where is Horvat when you have really good centres? 3c

And all the other guys you mentioned, the bottom 6 players that aren't showing as anything other than bubble players is the problem in vancouvers. You just don't have the depth and you haven't developed well and moves like every FA move Benning has made, is keep the team just good enough to not be bad enough to get the ride base for the team. They just don't have enough elite players.</div></div>

Good signing, maybe should've signed for 700-750K but it's not an overpayment and he's only 24. Not bad for a 4th liner.

What was wrong with his moves recently.
Yes maybe giving up the first wasn't amazing, but everyone is writing off Myers and Millers as useless players. Both players will make a huge impact next year.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DonnyMow</b></div><div>I would like to see a deal that sent Boeser to Boston and brought Krug to Vancouver. Add some spare parts and see what comes. Doubt either team would do that because both players are betrothed to their cities. Boeser is one of the best "people" on the Canucks and Krug- while undersized- has the heart that is needed to compete. I would sign him to an extension in Vancouver in a heartbeat instead of pursuing the likes for Jordie Benn and Tyler Myers....given him a 6 or 8 year extension....</div></div>
I don't know if Boston would want to or could afford Boeser I would think if they had the extra cap space they would try to keep Krug. Myers is going to get expensive Winnipeg having to move Trouba I think they make a effort to resign Meyers and without Trouba maybe he ups his game.

do you know how the offer sheet process works? this post would indicate no.
do you realize TOR's cap situation? again, this post would indicate no.
VAN traded a 2nd for Baertschi... his stock has fallen based on concussion and injury issues, IF OTT is interested, IMO the most we get back is a third

Boston wants to trade Krug he's basically been on the block all season. They know Krug is going to be very expensive to sign. Plus Krug is 28 and McAvoy is only 21. I know if I had to choose I'd take McAvoy. Boston fans on this site have had Krug in these mock trades since the start of the season.

The purpose of trading the competent Zaitsev is to get cap space. not to take back the inflated Sutter and Spooner contracts.
