The Realistic Habs
I like your thinking. The only tweak I'd make is to move out Andrew Shaw (maybe for 2 second-rounders), insert Byron in his place, and move Deslauriers into Byron's.

The only "realistic" Draisaitl trade, but still won't pass
So tell me why you're slighting Benning? The Vancouver GM. . . . . .perhaps you should try Chiarelli. . . . .or maybe Treliving. . . . at least you'd be in the right Province!

Tavares, Pacioretty Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jassan28</b></div><div>Do something with the 2018 pick and this team will actually be a playoff contender. Options include trade it, Draft Boquist or Bouchard, or Draft Wahlstrom or Dobson and we set.</div></div>
I think MTL should be looking to move down in this draft. If we end up with #3 or something I’d look at teams drafting 6-10 and start telling them give me a 2C and that pick and we will swap. Looking at teams like EDM or Florida that have young centers with no where to play them

Your thoughts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Double_D</b></div><div>You can't have a 10M$ 4th line. it's just bad business
with this structure, they can'T resign Barzal, Beauvilier and Bellows when their rookie deals are done.
They don'T need Domi, They need to find a way to dump Ladd elsewhere, that's what they really need</div></div>
Then move Ladd and retain a bit of salary.

Offer sheet is in tha house
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Juice</b></div><div>If it's one thing Carolina has...it's cap space...and the need to use it on impact forwards. Paying Lindholm $6m might not be what they had in mind but I could see them matching.
Would be scarier if they offerered an $8m + offer sheet to a nylander....they either get the player or screw toronto cap wise (especially if, say, they are both in the running for Tavares)
although the habs need more legit Centres and not more of these winger/centre combos</div></div>
teams shouldn't be afraid if a player of their's is offered sheeted. you gave the Nylander example. leafs would do well to the those four first rounders, some that might be lottery picks, and spend the seven million they have assigned to nylander or other players. the leafs may not like been having to give up nylander but the assets they get with picks and free cap space could surpass the value of nylander in time.

Ideal Offseason
Do you think Gallagher is worth that much? If yes, Montreal will make the trade any day. This is coming from a Habs fan.

No quick fix here
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Double_D</b></div><div>Soooooooooooooooooo, let's address some concerns
#1 Noone is giving away top #1C prospects, so yeah overpaying to Fla, meaning givving up more than required, taking on bad contracts, etc but Mtl will have to do it at somepoint if they want to fix their C issues.
#2 I get Anaheim may not want to trade Steele, but we're taking on $$ back and retaining $$ on Pacc. Their window with the current core is now, they might go for it.
#3 Bad contracts will be on our payroll for a while, like it or not, I don't think we're moving them unless we give assests to go with them, which I would try to avoid. Therefore, if I'm having an AHLer as my 7th D and need to pay to dump Alzner, might as well keep the poor guy.
If you all prefer, Add Pacc to the rest of the Fla package and swap Borgstrom for Trotchek or Barkov. Either way, I tihnk we can ride Drouin as a C if we're grooming someone else. But the future at C is not in our backyard so any ideas on how the get that guys (which is not in this years draft), I'm all ears
Thx for the feedback, keep the debate alive</div></div>
I think I am #3 on your list. Benn is only $1.1 M and could be kept as a 7th or moved for a 5th or 6 round. Alzner, is such a great guy, everybody loves him. But we do not build championships based on hugs and kisses. We overpaid, but I would try really hard to move him. Might need to eat some salary or lower our demand on the return.

if Hoffman rumors are true
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Claesson4Norris</b></div><div>I don't think those picks makes sense because EDM is getting the better player, and OTT takes on a hefty contract for what RNH brings imo</div></div>
Mike Hoffman PPG: 0.677 %PP 45.3 %SH 0.7
RNH PPG: 0.673 %PP39.2 %SH 33.5
Literally the only stats that you'll find that's in favor of Hoffman is Goals and Shot volume. RNH is ahead of Hoffman in pretty much the rest. They have same production while RNH plays 2 minutes per night more shorthanded. Hoffman does not play shorthanded.
It's a 25 yo with 3 years term vs a 28 yo with 2 years term.
The only reason this is being said is because RNH is a 1st OA and Hoffman is a 5th rounder. RNH vs Hoffman's value is comparable, but RNH gets lots of **** because expectations of his draft status

I like it, but I think Habs still need a #2 D, and I don't think Mete is the guy.

Weber to Ottawa
MTL declines , CBA rules provide us with an out and his contract is easy to buy out in the last 4 years .
if he retires or goes into a situation like Savard or Dipietro 6/7.8m cap is reverted back to NSH for the final 4 years of term .
its a penalty the league had negotiated for to discourage Ilya Kovalchuk Contract offers from being signed making the signing team liable even if
the players been traded 10 times before those final four years and retires due to injury NSH still is penalized for signing the contract in the first place .
