A Nylander trade I Actually Dont Hate
When you make a team you need it well rounded. Kampf is the 3rd line center, he literally takes all the d-zone faceoffs. So your expecting Domi's a below average defensive player who is a better winger to take on a role he shouldn't be playing. Does Kampf still take most of the d-zone faceoffs with Reaves as part of the shutdown line, not likely. Bottom six on your team. 3rd line Domi-Kampf-Raddysh 4th line Jarnkrok-Lafferty-Reaves.

It's that far off. Not only do goalies not tend to carry that much trade value (especially the way the position is trending), but what sense is it for the Leafs to bring back Saros in the deal when their window essentially slams shut by sending their 1C out the door?

Paying Willy and Auston Is Not Hard
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DougieGilmour</b></div><div>My expectations are that Woll is a capable NHL goalie. That’s all I’m hoping for. Vegas had average goalies. Colorado had average goalies. Really good teams can win with average goalies. You don’t need to have one of the elites. I’d rather have one than not have one but I’m not buying one for absurd money as a UFA. You can only find them through the draft.</div></div>
Colorado paid a 1st rounder to acquire a 2x Vezina vote getter. I actually agree with you that you don't need one of the elite goalies, but where I think we are saying the same thing but also different is that...I guess I good analogy is...
I go out a buy a lottery ticket. No one can tell me that I don't have a chance of winning. I absolutely have a chance of winning. BUT the difference between having a chance and expecting to win is an entirely different mindset around the same percentage of chance of winning. You're saying, teams don't need an elite goalie. I'm agreeing with you! 100% agreed. Why can't TOR do the same thing as Vegas...Yeah technically I can't disagree. Everyone that bought a lottery ticket has the same odds. BUT saying Hey...Mr. Smith won the lottery last week...Why can't I be next? My response would be...don't start buying anything just yet. You might not even have an NHL caliber goalie right now and neither of us knows what will happen.

This Is Going To Be Our Best Team Since Auston Was Drafted
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dk325</b></div><div>Sure, the guy Crosby went out of his way to compliment and say he's difficult to play against is AHL caliber. Gotcha. Ignorant.</div></div>
Lol well he's 30, has played 2 seasons in the NHL, one with 45 games and the other with 6. It took him until the age of 29 to crack one of the worst rosters in the league, the reason he is cheaper is because he's worth less. He expires at the end of this year but you need to pass on a guy who scored 20 goals last year to save 1.2 million for 1 year I guess.... Not to mention the fact he's currently injured and incredibly injury prone.
What you should have said is "Danforth plays on my favourite team and the other guy does not. Pass"

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dk325</b></div><div>First year he made the league was when Crosby said what he said about him and they were a middle of the pack team that year in part thanks to players like him giving above average performances in 4th line roles. He had 2 goals and an assist in 6 games last year before he had a season ending shoulder injury. But of course, you're a better judge of skill than Sidney Crosby. Educate yourself and you won't come off as ignorant as the other guy in this thread.</div></div>
He said he was hard to play against on the 4th line, small victories I guess.. Like I said, dude is 30 and has 51 nhl games, and as you said just had season ending shoulder injury. Did Crosby also say he was better than Jarnkrok and worth the savings? I guess Sid just made this guy one of your untouchables, forgive my ignorance!

Really? Add EK's 10 cap so the Leafs now have a 18 man roster with just 1.7m in cap space.
Doubt if Nylander's trade list would include a non playoff West Coast team.

If they're making room on the blueline and getting a high-end scorer - something they desperately need - that could move the needle for them

I would think, with all the guys the Leafs signed, they might be inclined to just let it ride so they have the best possible shot at winning a Cup or, you know, making it past the 2nd round. But I have heard it suggested that Pesce for Nylander could be a win-win for both teams and I tend to agree so, we'll see where it goes.

Why is Nylander a pure rental but not Toews? Toews has been getting low end Norris love all of the last 3 years. He's getting paid too.

Makes sense for Colorado kinda seems like they won’t be able to resign Toews anyway so just depends whether they want the forward rental or dman rental essentially

I wouldn't mind this trade from the Leafs perspective. Will miss Nylander massively up front, but getting Toews would make our D core a bit rediculous. Although we will still be missing some size and physicality in it.

Got it. Who knows, might work. Not sure COL likes the idea of a rental. Maybe there is a 3way deal to be had here where a third team takes in Nylander and COL gets a young top 6F with term and cap friendly deal in return
