Kotko was garbage. Dvorak is better and cost controlled for 4 years. Canes did you a favor

I love how on here literally a day ago, ppl across the board had Dvorak being traded to the habs for a top prospect, roster player, a couple 1sts and it STILL wasn’t good enough for most Arizona fans and trolls alike. Now all of a sudden, Berg pulls off another coups from a position of weakness, a la the whole Pacioretty ordeal, and instead of praising this genius, you decide to **** on him. Bravo sir. You are truly smtg else

To be honest I don't see Montreal as a true contender either, but I do think they actually improved their team today by swapping out Kotkaniemi with Dvorak. Dvorak is the better player for sure. And the OS thing is done now. Bergevin started a war, Waddell just finished it. Either side would be foolish to continue it because that's no way to build a team. I bet Waddell regrets the OS now anyway.

Strome and Vatanen
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dr_akin</b></div><div>I dont think we will get Strome for some stuff we don't want. There is little value going back to the hawks. Why do they do this? We would have to give up prospects we would prefer to keep, hilis and a third isnt enough and kulak is a dump
i like vatanen a lot and "if" he is healthy thats a good contract and he provides offence, he unfortunately is easily injured.</div></div>
Honestly don't think it makes much sense to add Vatanen. You have Wideman that likely is signed to provide the same thing and he is on a league min deal. As for the trade to Chicago, it doesn't help them at all. They have a logjam on defense, and adding another defenseman won't help that. I think Chicago move Strome to LW in their top 9 rather than trade him and Have Borgström as 3C.

What would the cost be
I like Lehkonen, but the Isles need Beauvillier for his offense- which is much better than Lehkonens. Any kind of futures as a sweetner isnt ideal for the win now Isles....unless they feel they have to move him, which isnt the issue.
this trade doesnt really address any of the teams issues/weakness- other than adding a french canadian to the habs....which didnt work out to well for Drouin- whom most fans would be happy to see traded.

Romanov would have to be involved but Isles would be very, very hesitant to move Beau. Don't see it

With the Isles in win now mode, I don't think they match up good with Montreal on a trade. Their biggest need (assuming Palmieri, Parise, Cizikas are signed) is a #2 LD, and the Habs have no one that would be worth trading Beau for.

What Are Your Thoughts

If the Leafs could get a 2nd and 3rd I think they would be all over it. I don't think they would get that return as they have to trade someone out in order for not having run a 21 man roster. Teams will know this, thus why the return likely is lower.

Im late but still
Kerfoot wouldn't be bad, He'd Push KK enough that if he wasn't consistent he'd lose the 2C spot.
Rielly Value seems alright but I wouldn't want to pay him more then 6 mil his stats are inflated by playing with good forwards a deal around 4x5.750 would be fair IMO

Buffalo
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rob32sjsharks</b></div><div>I think that's the best Sabers could hope for IMO. Sadly the Sabers used up their chances at the primo options now that most teams are set for the upcoming year.
their hope now is this offer.. or that Eichel agrees to play this year get's healthy and trade deadline a team offers their cupboard to get him with some retention.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dr_akin</b></div><div>anything productive to add ? or just telling him no? if that's the case why bother stopping by, tell him how to fix the trade maybe</div></div>
It isnt the value its the pieces, they make no sense. I wish people would take one second to see what the team needs are. they have 9 Dmen under the age of 24, 3 in the NHL and 2 are sure fire NHLers, and they have 2 A+ goalie prospects one that they just traded Reinhart for. Were not asking for more, were asking it to make sense. We've been saying this for months but people keep acting like we want more picks and prospects. Just add forward prospects, thats what Buffalo needs, and thats what Buffalo is going to trade their franchise center for

Didn't mind Galchenyuk last year at all, but he is definitely not a center. That 3rd line would get exposed defensively.

Okay, but he's not playing C. I expect him to be a Perry type deal, starts season scratched and then eventually earns his spot on the 4th line with someone hurt or under performing.

In my humble opinion that's about right value for Dvorak. That been said, He will go for higher than that because there's allegedly high demand for the player. He will likely go for an A prospect and a 1st.

I think you need to send more. You mentioned Bo Horvat-Bo is better, but think of him when you're putting a package together. Gotta think there'd need to a 1st in there somewhere, and build on it from there.
Talking points:
-Lehknonen: I think he's worse than Habs fans think, and better than a lot of other people give him credit for. For the money he's being paid though, the return would be low. Maybe a late 2nd at the deadline or something like that? If the idea is that you're a contender, you should probably keep him though.
-Byron dump: Stralman ($5.5 mil x 1 year) cost the Panthers the equivalent of 2 x 2nds. Byron is owed $6.8 mil over 2 years, so it's probably around the same.
-If Buffalo trades Eichel, they'd probably be willing to do a Byron dump to get to the floor, as long as they aren't taking a bigger salary back. Detroit-Probably not unless it was an overwhelming move. Arizona-probably not because they can probably find a cap hit with a lower dollar value owed to get there (maybe?).
-"meh" on Donato. Might as well give Poehling another shot at some point. If he doesn't fit the bill, make a move from there.
-23 man looks fine: Deep team. Will be in tough in that division with Tampa, Florida, Toronto, and the never aging Bruins.
