No on that Ducks trade. That Armia contract is a disaster.

Keeping the band together

Right so FLA keeps him then. I’m just saying, no one will come knocking at the Panthers door to get a declining 5 mill dollar player. In the end, if Florida wants to “keep the band together”, they will have to pay to get rid of the obvious player. If not, they keep him and the pick but Marchment and Chiarot walk. They gotta decide what’s better for the now, since it is evident they are all in for the next few years.
Having said that, Hammonic got a third recently, so you may find that GM out there. History just shows Ducks GM Pat Verbeek isn’t that type of GM.

Keeping the band together
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockey91</b></div><div>Hornqvist isn’t a cap dump though. He still is almost at 40 points a season for his role and if a team like Anaheim gives a third for him then trades him to a contender for 50% retrained you’ll probably get a second.</div></div>
If your getting rid of him to make room in your cap, he is a cap dump. Player skill may be decent now but at this age it will only deteriorate. Your dealing from a position of weakness seeing how everyone knows why you are making this trade. Look at the Dadonov trade that didn’t happen. Dado is still an upgrade on the Anaheim roster but the need to make room forced Vegas to pay that second rounder.

It’s gonna cost that second to get rid of that contract.

People are overpaying on this deadline. Might be prudent to field offers and take them seriously. Any idea who could have interested? His 10 team NTC strikes me as a not going to Canada list.

Why was this so hard
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>csick</b></div><div>And if he sucks, you move on from him in the summer. Instead of Hamonic being signed next year</div></div>
Honestly if I were a GM of a rebuilding team, I be trying to “help” Dorion with my “experienced” veterans. Seems like he likes to spend draft picks for the sake of spending. The longer he’s in charge, the more the rebuild is damaged. Ottawa has a good thing, not sure why he can’t just address the glaring needs (22-26 top 6 right wing and a 24-28 top 4 RD). Don’t watch the sens often but that is just what I can see being the most pressing need for next year by looking at this roster.

They should have claimed Myers’s contract. They still have a third and maybe he reignites next year the chemistry he had with Chabot at the World juniors. Younger than Hammonic too.

I think De Brusk for Copp would be perfect. Keeps WPG in the hunt without losing asset in Free Agency. Boston gets 2C they want.

Why paying Nick Paul 3M when you can trade for Hamonic lol
This rebuild is not only stalling, it’s looking like a regression is in short order. Giving assets away while helping teams with their cap problems shows the lack of competence that this executive group has. I mean the guy was on waivers earlier. I hope Nick P gets his payday elsewhere, he earned it.

Trust me I’m a big Comtois guy but Milano emerging the way he did, it kinda made him expandable. Having said that, a pick in the 30s isn’t something to scoff about. Zelleweger is looking like a massive steal about now. He was around that number. The Ducks have the drafting record to find talent that others overlook.

Thought the pens were in on him. I guess not. If they do decline then a similar package from the rangers could be had. And then the Pens get to face him.

Myers has terrible value and you got value here for both players while replacing both of the with better contract players who are also flippable at the TDL if the Canucks continue to regress</div></div>
I like when people undervalue players and point out their weaknesses but when they trade for them they put them in their top 6 and top 4.

Yep value is as close as you get. You not asking for retention would entice the ducks too. . A first would also be acceptable. Rangers in the market for a winger?
