Hughes will be paid closer to $8M than 6...
Petey may sign at $7.5 but not out of the question for him to get $8.
Dickinson is going to cost you $2.5M
McCabe and Rathbone are both LHD, we are desperate for RHD.
Just feels like you're bending too many things to make this work.

I like the logic. Don't know how each GM would value each player but there's good reason for this.

I would rather have Rathbone, flat out. I like Bean and I think the Canucks would love to have him, but the org is very high on Rathbone. I think the Canes just have to accept losing Skjei and should hang onto Bean.

Eriksson buyout Holtby Seattle deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheAlien</b></div><div>Lind is gonna be protected so they aren't taking him. If you're desperate for cap space just buy out Holtby</div></div>
Interesting, I assume you would be exposing Virtanen then. Who do you think gets taken?
The reason I think this deal ultimately would benefit the Canucks is acquiring Hill. I didn't throw him in just because trading Holtby would leave us without a backup, I threw him in because he's the exact type of backup this team needs. Young, cheap, effective (in my opinion) and attainable. If our core are hitting their peak in the next 2-5 years, he's absolutely the type of guy I'd want to develop into our backup in that time.

Eriksson buyout Holtby Seattle deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BCAPP</b></div><div>Eriksson buyout is really not worth it.
They have a 4m penalty next year and 1 million the year after.
If they just leave him on the roster it's 4.875 million and they're done.
I guess it saves them 1 million bucks though and spreads the cap hit over two years... But you have the cap space not to do it</div></div>
I agree. I kinda threw that in early-on thinking I'd need the cap space at the end of it all but by leaving Eriksson in the minors instead of the buyout the Canucks would still be nearly cap compliant. Maybe just don't re-sign Sutter, or buyout one of Roussel/Beagle instead?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheAlien</b></div><div>I'd rather just keep Holtby, Lind, and the picks</div></div>
My thinking is that Seattle has to take somebody, and honestly it's probably Lind. This is essentially just swapping Holtby and a few picks for Hill to save a few million on the cap which allows us to re-sign Hughes and Pettersson with some comfort room.

Kraken draft (w/ some side deals)
<strong>Side deals</strong>
WAS wants to protect <strong>Vanacek</strong>, so they could offer picks for an agreement to take Oshie (Who's from Seattle, plays well with fans)
TB might see Seattle as their only chance to clear cap space. They'd likely have to offer <strong>Eric Cernak + a high pick</strong> for Seattle to take Johnson (also from Washington state) so they can afford to have Kucherov come back from IR.
There's also a decent chance the Canucks will have top pay Seattle to take Holtby. Maybe they throw in some type of asset as well.

You're gonna want a 23 man roster. This was a good effort but not enough cap out and getting rid of Fleury will cost your more than that.

Tanev and small trades
I don't think that 4th pick need to be in the Kerfoot deal, but I think it makes sense for both teams. Dont think Dermott's RFA rights are worth much, probably more like a 5th round pick. Tanev could be asking for more as a UFA, but not impossible he goes that price to play in TOR. Not a huge fan off putting Liljegren, Sandin, and Ambramov into the starting lineup just yet, could get cheap UFAs to fill those spots while they develop in more reserved roles, maybe Mark Borowiecki, Trevor van Riemsdyk, and another year of Spezza. You also need another forward, always wanna have that 23 man roster. A bunch of little things, but they add up.

This very nearly works, but Edmonton doesn't have cap space and cant afford to take on a deal like Fleury's. I think the swap of picks is fine, but unless Vegas retains this deal won't get done with Edmonton.

CAL ltgt ARZ blockbuster Hall signs in CAL
So it's rejected because NJ is under the cap limit... even though they take on cap hit and it's an offseason deal. This deal can still get done.
Any sense of logic here?
OEL and Raanta have bonuses that ARZ probably doesn't want to pay, so they offload salary and bonuses here in exchange for a quality prospect, scoring winger and backup goaltender.
CAL gets a top line LD who can take minutes off of an aging Giordano, as well as a starter in Raanta and the rights to the hottest UFA on the market (hometown discount maybe? probably still upper 7M in AAV). Hanifin out makes cap space for Hall and OEL steps into Hanifin's spot.
NJD gets a solid young 2nd line D man, giving them a core of Butcher, Subban, Severson and Hanifin. They have a lot of centre prospects and can afford to deal McLeod.

Keeping Toffoli letting Marky walk
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheAlien</b></div><div>That Tanev deal isn't great</div></div>
I mostly agree. I went with what I expect GMJB to sign him to, not what he should probably get. Honeslty, if they could get Tanev for 2 years at that price I'd be fine, but if they have him that length it should be closer to $4.5M. The thing, I think, is that the Canucks wouldn't be able to truly replace Tanev in free agency.

Very well put together, but I don't think you're giving the FAs enough pay. You're not going to get Tanev, Toffoli and Markstrom as cheap as 4 5 and 6, and Gaudette could end up getting something more than 1.9 (but under 3, I hope).
