<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>He won't buyout Campbell, that's poor asset management. Kulak is the odd man out on the blue line, I could see him getting moved for a pick.
There's no reason to offer Bjugstad that much money OR term, he's 31 this summer and has earned just $900k in each of his past 2 contracts. Bouchard will require more though.
And "sitting on his hands" isn't a bad idea really. The Oilers have the best record in the league in the second half so far. <a href="https://www.nhl.com/stats/teams?reportType=game&dateFrom=2023-01-10&dateTo=2023-03-31&gameType=2&filter=gamesPlayed,gte,1&sort=pointPct&page=0&pageSize=50" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">NHL second half</a></div></div>
Yes, not much is needed than a lot of resigns, take a thought on Shore and Janmark what to do, and create capspace. Wven if Kulak is traded, where to get enoygh capspace? I dont think Campbell is worth 5 millions ever. Trade or buyout is the best way. They even dont trust him after some good games. He is a 5 million dollar backup. THATS bad asset management. So its either Campbell or Kulak + Yamamoto. I would go that Campbell way. Preferbly both Campbell and Yamamoto goes. Kulak can wait until Broberg is fully ready.then that LD is one pf the best in the league with Ekholm, Nurse, Broberg. And I like a right with Bouch, Ceci, VD.

Yes, I vhanged some. I May be a bigher beliver than most in E Rod, but I think he is a good pickup.
Buying out Merlizkins is the only way to cteate cap. Yes, kind of desgroying it with that Hayws trade, but CBus needs a 1C to make a competing team, good for peospects to come in and fight for a place.

Thats what we all Oilersfans has said, but Ive heard so much forcing of Edmundson to Oilers, so I gave montreal that favour.

I agree on you that Oilers should target Veljmeka, and if they could sweeten it with Holloway, just do it. But one think Campbells contract is just to long. And to expensive. Probably rakes a 1st, with retention. But I would still do it.
And I sont belive Philly accepts that trade.
And Accardi will not sign that cheap, while already play for a contender in Leafs. He will be over 2m resigned.

He holds significant value and I don’t understand people just think he’s some 3rd line winger…</div></div>
Its wishful thinking from fans overvaluing their own players by their heart.
Buch istraded for an equal player. I could see E Kane for Buch + prospect. But for wich reason any of the teams would do that is unthinkable.

Defense is till unanswered. Nurse Ceci doesnt work anymore.
You dont need to throw away two 1sts for two forwards, one forward is enough.
With five elite forwards, oilers should find a sixth forward who just rolls with, and I think Fogele is already that, with Kostin and McLeod able to fill in. So there is room for a cap realese. Yamamoto should therefor go, not a bad player, but a bad fit in our top 6.
I think Kostin and McLeod wants a little raise, esp McLeod since helping contract this year.
Janmark probably not resigned.

Helle is a Vezina goalie, you dont trade those. Not even for three 1sts. Those goalies are hard to find. He is their center piece.
RD veteran, that could be Pietrangelo. Vegas want to shred cap. As Free agent, there is just Klingberg prob.

What probably happens
I dont agree personally, bit Holland sitting on his hands is what I could see happening.
The to do list should be
1. Trade Yamamototo clearcap
2. Buy out Campbell to clear cap
3. Bridge Bouchard, all RFAs, resign Bjugstad.
4. Get another D
5. Get a backup goalie for 2 million-ish.
6. Trade Kulak or Ceci
7. Sign a new winger with good forechecking and defense, like C Brown.
8. Be glad you did some constructive moves.

Wtf is this???
Buying out Fogele, who is a good player???
He has at least trade value.
Campbell will get a new chance unfortunally for the cap situation. And I doubt that McLeod and Kostin gets those contracts, McLeod like 1,5, Kostin gets less.
Not resigning Ryan or Bjugstad??
They will get just one -two minimum guy, call up Holloway and Lavoie.
Stupidly enough, they will not get a new RD or a new RW...

I would gladly accept Provorov fpr Yamamoto, but I dont know how Oilers would make it cap wise.
Biy out Campbell is a way.
You absolutley wont get a 2nd for Yamamoto from washington. I promise you that.

Oilers 23-24
Why does everyone think Fogele is unusable. He is a good player recently. The fit in the group is maybe odd, I know he has been vocal about playingtime and I think he is part right about some players play to much. Everybody benefits of a teamgame.
If a forward goes, it should be Yamamoto. His play isnt 3 million-ish. He can hustle, but gets injured, plays about 55 -60 games a year. Soon to be LTIRed. Edmonton would benefit. of one more D.
Get a D, get a RW. Trade Yamamoto and one of Ceci/Kulak.
And I dont think A Johnson signs for only 775 000. Thats ridicolous.

I know I will ge hated, but Tavares buy out proof contract is a killer. As long as Torontos cap has weighted 33 millions on three forwards, they wont compete. Cant afford other good D or backing up forwards.

And Bouchard will be beidged to a cheapwr contract, like 1 year 2,5. I think McLeod gets around 1,3- 1,4. Janmark could be kept as well, he got chemistry with Nuge. And Derek Ryan will be signed to a low contract. But depends on if they find better on the market.

The cost of gettung rid of Campbell is just to high, you just buy him out, at 1,5 mil per year. Esp since cap goes to 83,5 now. Its easy. You shouldnt throw away three defenseman, its onky one that needs to go. Keep Desharnias, he is cheap and an exciting prospect. Kulak or Ceci goes, and another better top suited D in. Campbell bought out + A D goes opens up 6,3 in cap space. Then you trade Yamamoto for a 5th or a 6th to another team and opens up to 9,3 million. Sign Mayfield or Orlov offseason.

Twrrible trade for Oilers. We would say NO. Why throw away two high picks like that for the weakest need? We need a 1RD defenseman.

Just buy Campbell out.

Connor Murphy in Chicago? Send them 2025 1st and go.

An GM that trades a 1st for 2 seconds is an idiot. Those GMs doesnt have a job anymore. Yes, I know Holland did just that in Detroit, but a 1st is just to valuable.
And I bet Arizona want quality for quantity with their stacked picks, they arent just a joke for fun their picks is stacked because they have a plan, and that is not to do other teams a lot of favours. They will use many picks as trade credits, to trade up in their drafts.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SupremeBone</b></div><div>I'm going to presume Edler is less THE target and more a placeholder for a UFA D at around that cap hit and, thus, will refrain from critiquing that aspect of the roster.
Beyond that, I think CHI would want a more substantial piece in a Raddysh trade (at least a 2nd; perhaps even a 1st). Whether they get that or not is another matter, but I imagine Yamo and some draft fodder isn't the package they'd accept.
As for the Ceci trade, that value MAY be right if you find the right team, but LA just simply isn't that. They're flush with RD (Doughty, Roy, Walker, Durzi, Clarke, etc) and will need the 3.25mil Ceci occupies over the remainder of his contract for other purposes. The only teams I see maybe being "right" for Ceci are ones with a gap at RD, a desire to start/continue competing, and aren't in dire straits cap-wise. Teams that may fit that description are Detroit (traded Hronek and don't have a 2RD candidate behind Seider), Buffalo (could use another RD, though Ceci isn't that much of an upgrade on Lyubushkin; cap situation beyond '24 might limit their interest), Montreal (could use a RD, though they might prefer keeping spots open for young Dmen), and Vancouver (they could use a defensive presence on RD between Hronek and Bear; would need to have moved on from Myers and bought out OEL to have the cap space). Anaheim and Arizona have a need but probably aren't going to be competitive and, thus, would likely view it as a cap dump.</div></div>
Thanks for input. Youre right about Edler. A bit to much i think as well. Hes a place holder. I redo Raddysh trade.
