109 Points as a 17 year old in the Q... Absolutely bonkers.
I'm excited to watch this D-core... but Dumais is who I really want to see !!!!
Can't wait to see who really pops in this tournament, there's plenty of skill throughout this lineup for 1 or 2 guys to really make a statement before heading into training camp.

EXACTLY.. and I love Horvat, but he's 1 season away from UFA and he's not a top 30 center in this league. Johnson (1st round pick), Peeke ( Early 2nd round pick) and a first in a very deep '23 draft is Coo Coo for Cocoa puffs. Why would we give up three premium assets in this case.

Yeah I think we're running out of time, but with Jarmo trying to land those two i'd say he's still looking to add to the top 4D. It's not like teams that missed on a few trades suddenly go, well I guess we tried..
We need help on D, there is no question about it, we can hope for internal growth but there's not much left to figure out.

I have no clue what the top 9 forwards are going to look like, but I'm pretty sure the 4th line will be Robinson, Kuraly and Danforth.
I'm thinking Marchenko is a lock as well, simply because he's been at the pro level for a few years, he's 6'3" and might not appreciate starting in Cleveland.
It's getting late in the game so now that Jarmo has allegedly swinged and missed at McDonagh and Chychrun... I'm curious to see if there still is a trade to made for a top-4 D.
I doubt it with training camp right around the corner, but moves still need to be made around the league.. Hoping we snatch a Roy from LA or a Murphy from Chicago.. Maybe they'll PTO P.K. who knows.

I didn't realize it was only for 1 year lol.. i wouldn't do that deal either. Leafs aren't moving him anyways, if he leaves he leaves.. they have him for 2 more years. There's nothing you could trade for that equals prime Matthews, might as well see that as your window and go for it.

Contender or pretender
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ajp_18</b></div><div>Pretender - Columbus’s d core is still major suspect and as you pointed out, the lack of a top line center. I have Columbus 7th in the metro by a slim margin behind NYI, PIT, and NJD with a wider gap between them and CAR, NYR and WSH (Not in standings order).
As for the trade I doubt NYR makes that deal, I also can’t see where Lundkvist is playing top pair this year.</div></div>
Metro is just brutal... but the #CBJ have a chance.. no doubt a lot rests on Peeke and Bean improving, maybe Jiricek making the team, Boqvist rounding out his game in his own end or perhaps Blankenburg just killing it and forcing his way into the top-4.
At forward there are just as many questions and possibilities. Who's going to have chemistry with Johnny Hockey, will Laine take another step. Will Roslovic continue his play, what can Johnson and Sillinger bring this year. Chinakhov, Marchenko and Bemstrom one of them could have a breakout season.
#CBJ has to be the most unpredictable team in the metro, we could up end up anywhere from 2-3 to 7-8.
Hurricanes: Best team in the division and they got better this offseason.
Flyers: added Torts, DeAngelo.. Ellis will be out, but this team had a lot of injuries last year. They'll be more competitive.
Jackets: Added Gaudreau, developing young rookies.
Devils: Added Palat to a developing and promising young core, will this be the year they finally make the playoffs.
Islanders: Lost Trotz, added Romanov, still a solid team top to bottom that's just build for the playoffs they had a down year, they'll be back.
Penguins: Solid team, as long as they have Crosby you can't count them out. They shuffled some mid-tier players around, they'll be good to very good.
Rangers: Added Trocheck, lost some pieces, if their young core keeps growing they'll be very good. They depend on their Shesterkin an awful lot..
Capitals: Solid veteran team just like the Penguins, are they going to able to stay afloat the first half of the season as they're dealing with some serious injury issues.
It's going to be very unpredictable I think...
To me
Canes and Islanders are 1,2
Flyers will most likely be in the 6-8 range.
Everyone else... it's anyone's guess.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dopplsan</b></div><div>Coming from a CBJ fan, it’s hard to tell right now. Our D is such a mess on the right side, it’s possible he becomes the odd-man-out, but it depends hard on how this season goes. CBJ are high on Peeke’s potential as a shut-down D (think Savard or, if all goes well, maybe even a Connor Murphy), but yeah, Boqvist and Blankenburg are two young guys needing time.
Jiricek likely won’t be rushed. Unless he shows he can be a day-one difference maker, a la Werenski, I’m not 100% sure I see him *needing* a spot next year, particularly since he’ll be waivers exempt and CBJ can offer him spot duty in the NHL rather than a full time spot.</div></div>
As a fellow #cbj fan I agree... Plus Peeke took a huge step last year, let's see where he takes it..
Yes we have a lot of very talented guys coming, but they're not here yet and none of them offer what Peeke offers. If he falls down the depth chart the next few years so be it. We need guys that offer grit, size and the intangibles.. making it hard to move Peeke at the moment.

Jarmo is taking this in a new direction, torts is no longer here and neither are Jones, Savard or the variety of heavy gritty defensive minded forwards who played the game the "right way". The high end defensemen we've drafted these past few years are also skill oriented.
I'm not used to this either, but I'm excited to see where these guys can take us. You're right we're going to see a lot of 5+ goal games instead of 2-3 goal nail biters.

I'm honestly not quite sure, we'll have to find out and see. Those guys might very well end up starting in the AHL. As could Chinakhov and others. It's going to be a competitive training camp and Jarmo might not be done either. It's already crowded, I'm excited to find out and see where this goes.

100%... whenever Kane gets traded (I still think it's more likely a cup contender will pick him up at the trade deadline when cap space is a lot easier to manage), the other team will be sending equal if not more cap back in the trade. Especially since CHI is looking to add a 1st and top Prospect.

Plus considering is production, he's going to take up a lot of cap space these next few years and beyond.

Yeah I was just goofing around. I figured we definitely have the assets that the Blackhawks would want, including more valuable picks... and with the Kane rumor not making a whole lot of sense to me, I figure lets see what we can do here. Maybe there's an opportunity here to package these assets, add in the extra retention and maybe pickup an established player that we would need. Like a higher end Defenseman or Center. After looking around, I'm not sure I'm seeing it.
I used the Oilers because they've been frequently rumored in regards to Kane... but man... Mr. HockeyIsMyPassion61,
We're giving up Mateychuk ( The best prospect by a country mile in this deal), Our first which is going to be significantly better then the Oilers and Bemstrom a solid NHL forward. PLUS we're retaining another 50% on top of the 50% that Chicago is retaining. The Oilers would do this deal in a heartbeat, they're taking the #cbj to the cleaners in this deal.
This deal doesn't make sense for the #CBJ whatsoever....
I was just messing around in the Armchair GM because of the Kane to #CBJ rumors, I figured the most logical explanation is that we're brokering for another team. Because we do have the assets that Chicago would want...
Problem being, the Oilers simply don't have the assets necessary to pay for the brokerage service...
So it doesn't make sense for the #CBJ
Trust me, the oilers would do this in a heartbeat... Highway robbery quite honestly. We gave up all the good stuff and you give up a late first, late second, mediocre prospect and a guy who hasn't quite figured it out yet.. If he ever will

Mateychuk > Bourgault, CBJ’s 2023 first is likely significantly better than Edmonton’s, and Bemstrom/Bean vs Murphy/Puljujarvi is a wash at best. Gotta be more incentive for a team already at the cap like Columbus (even without Texier counting against it this season) to take on money than this.</div></div>
Murphy is better then Bean, but I get what your saying. I'm sure chicago would rather have our assets then the Oilers, i'm just not sure if the Oilers could properly compensate the CBJ for doing them that favor. Bean and the third for Murphy.
Nyquist to make the money work, plus he'll be a great asset to trade at the trade deadline.
