I’m expecting him not to get burned every single game and not get exposed as a 3rd pair guy. He looks silly EVERYGAME. It’s not just this one instance. It’s multiple times. He did the exact same thing against San Jose a bit ago. It’s a common theme

No dude. He is legitimately awful. The eye test and advance stats lineup. What he did on the Tampa GWG is stuff he does every game. Rewatch that goal and look what he’s doing. That happens all the time. He’s a big RHD good on the PK and that’s literally it

I think him next to Benn would be super cool, it would create a hard 3rd line that could beat you up and also score but Dallas doesn’t need that. They need a proven top 6 RW

I wouldn’t say no value but definitely not enough to be this return. Yeah I understand Dallas is giving you up 2 bad contracts, but the Anderson one isn’t great either. Not worth it to be giving up arguably a top 3 prospect

The Swedes skate better. Delly and Damiani score more. I’m not as worried about it now that Robertson signed and we don’t need any additional space, but if DeBoer is being honest about everybody having a clean slate then he shouldn’t be in the lineup based on preseason performances. Also, if somebody picks up Glendening we can have three scratch players in stead of two. I feel like two is workable but why limit your options if you don’t have to? It’s a wasted conversation as he will be in the lineup. Likely because they “need him on the PK”</div></div>

Lines with Jrob signed
I’m sure I’m in the minority here, but I genuinely Wouldn’t be surprised if this roster made a deep run. The top 6 is VERY solid, bottom 6 finally has some scoring depth, blue line is deep and they have one of the best young goaltenders in the game. I feel confident when it comes to the Stars taking on any team in a 7 game series tbh. The Lundkvist trade + Delly and Johnston making the team are huge difference makers imo

Especially when you consider Segs money being around for a long time and the likelihood of at least one or two of Wyatt, Stank, Bourque, Nils, or Harley having breakout seasons in the next 2-3 years. Stank does the same thing JRob does and he’s looking for a fat contract after his ELC and you’re in a spot with 22 million tied up in JRob and Segs</div></div>
Totally with you on that. It makes more sense for the Stars financially to sign Robo long term now. Like you said they’d be saving so much money. May have to find a home for Khudobin if that’s the case which will be hard, cause he hasn’t looked good

Early prediction of the starting line up
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RobbinGoods</b></div><div>I could see Harley with Miro more towards mid season.
Like you said, let him break in on 3rd pair. Get more comfortable, get accustomed to the new coaching system.
He’ll prob be PP2. Suter Lindell shouldnt be anywhere near PP.
I dont mind Suter, he played good for his contract value last year. Its only a matter of time before we cant play him up passed the 3rd pair. Mid season swap with Harley if Harley starts on 3, Suter can finish his contract on 3rd pair from there.
I agree with the 3 scoring lines. But guys like Faksa and Glendening make that hard to accomplish. Unless Deboner changes his plan to keep Benn on LW.
Ide like to move on from Faksa, replace him with Dellandrea or Bourque. Save a bit of money and it will be easier to make a move at the deadline.
On paper, having Bourque between Benn and Marchment looks good. But could be wishfull thinking that Bourque makes the line up. Dellandrea is more probable. Wont be as high scoring but would still be an effective line.
What’s your opinion on the contracts given to Jake and Robo?
Also, if you know more Stars fans on here, feel free to tag them. Would appreciate input from folks who know the team.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SlevinKalevra</b></div><div>Harley and Heiskanen were amazing together in the small sample size we’ve seen. I would eventually like to see DeBoer put Miro and Harley out there for offensive zone draws. I’m not as down on Suter as most are though, so I would be happy with consistent minutes for Harley letting him play his game. If we can run three scoring lines that will help a lot as well. We won’t be putting a more offensive third pair out there with Faksa and Glendening all the time like we did with Honka</div></div>

I’ve really never understood the insane Ryan Suter hate that comes from online. Dude is a still a solid top 4 piece and like you stated he’s lived up to his value. I don’t understand the “Suter drags Miro down” when he’s honestly been the best dman he’s been consistently paired with since being in Dallas (Polak and Oleksiak were the others)
I think we should be looking at something like
Robo-Hintz-Pavs
Marchment-Seguin-Guri
Benn-Peterson-Johnston/Dellandrea
Tufte-Faksa-Glendening
I think if Johnston grabs that spot out of training camp, we could see Delly on the 4th line instead of Tufte. I also like the idea of Marchment playing with Benn
Suter-Heiskanen
Harley-Miller
Lindell-Hakanpaa
I do think we see a resurgence of sorts from Miller this year. Nothing crazy but I think he’s a lot better than we all think. I’m also not opposed to the idea y’all have mentioned or swapping Harley and Suter throughout the year. I really think Harley will compliment Miller and Vice versa. Tbh I wasn’t a fan of Lindell-Hakanpaa in the playoffs. Hopefully more time together consistently can change my opinion
I really do think one of the big 3 prospects makes the roster. If they do it could change everything. The offense might look as good as it has in a long time. I don’t really expect anything more than 20-20 from Benn but I definitely think there’s a real possibility of seeing 30-30 from Seguin

I think Dallas would be interested but they’d need to send Hakanpaa back and would still need some salary retained or for EDM to take back Khudobin. So really it’s probably not possible

If even-strength goal scoring is the leading indicator for NHL success, the outlook on Bourque isn't phenomenal. It's by no means gospel, and I don't think you're inherently wrong to leave the door open on that being his ceiling, but Dallas has better center players/prospects that will either push Bourque to the third line or to the wing.</div></div>
Oh for sure. I’m open to moving Bourque because I think Johnston makes it this season and Stankoven makes it the next season. If that’s the case your top 9 is filled with
Robo-Hintz-Pavs
Peterson-Seguin-Johnston
Benn-Stankoven-Marchment
Not even counting Dellandrea who’s ready, plus I’m not counting Kane either. They wouldn’t have much room for Bourque

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BeterChiarelli</b></div><div>Which is very understandable given the way Bourque was on pace for 100 assists in his final year of Junior: he's difficult to project but I think assuming anything other than a #3C or playmaking top-six RW right now is dangerous. I did a deep-dive into Bourque's production alongside Bourgault and Nadeau <a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/552274?post_id=3271188">back in the second prospect discussion thread</a>. Bourque is probably not driving a line at the professional level and isn't apt to recreate his gaudy numbers at either the AHL or NHL levels without a bonafide triggerman as his year-over-year growth in production was driven by changes in linemates more than his natural progression.
I would think Kane more apt to sign in Dallas than in Edmonton but I genuinely believe he's signing (and retiring) back home in Buffalo.</div></div>
I think my expectation is like a high end 2nd line centre and am I being overly optimistic? Sure. But I kind of think like a 60 point player, maybe he peaks at 70 if he has some insane year. But I think what you’re saying is likely more accurate

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BeterChiarelli</b></div><div>If Faksa is going back I don't understand how you think that pick can be conditional: you're asking the Blackhawks to take on approximately $8M on top of the 50% retention they're going to need to include to move Kane anywhere. OP shows that Faksa doesn't need to be included to make the cap work. Getting out from a relatively unattractive contract in order to make room for blossoming rookies will cost assets. From the Chicago POV, how do you explain the optics of not getting a top prospect <strong>AND</strong> a first-round pick for one of the most prolific hockey players of the modern age? He still produces at an elite clip.
I think our goalposts here are somewhere between the Giroux trade and the Eichel trade, and admittedly, Chicago probably swings a little bit closer to the Eichel return because of the echelon of player that Kane is. Depending on your mileage of Gurianov vs Tuch and Bourque vs Krebs in terms of quality, assuming dumping Faksa is a must, and consideration to the inter-divisional tax, I wouldn't be surprised to see Kane fetch an <em>identical</em> return for Pat Kane that Eichel got from Vegas.
Bourque
Faksa
Gurianov

Some conditional 2024 pick
EDIT: also, this is in the context of my being convinced Edmonton pushes <strong>very</strong> hard for Kane. Something around Barrie, Savoie/Petrov, and two first round picks.</div></div>
You make some very good points. Maybe it’s just I value Bourque super highly and maybe more than his actual worth. I would just hope there is some chance that Kane would re-sign and I think he would. A lot of big name players that have come to Dallas have not only said plenty of great things but have also re-signed. Spezza/Pavelski/etc. I think there would be a good chance he re-signs. If the bidding war plays out like you suggest I think I’d make the deal

Very good point. With Heiskanen on one PP and Harley on the other I think they’ll be fine there. Even Miller can jump on the PP cause he’s got a bomb of a shot
