Which is why I said “what do they add” on both sides. Boeser is on his way out and it’s like 90% certain Mantha is too.

I don’t see why Oilers fully say no if they can’t get Karlsson. Much cheaper and easier trade option for a guy having a career year and is on PP1 rn

And Johan Larsson got a 3rd from Washington last year which is pretty similar. Teams value depth centers. So maybe not a 3rd usually but retention helps, he’s not worth less than 4th period

Zaitsev is turbo bad and you would pay more to get rid of a longer contract. JP’s contract is worth more against the cap which allows them another $2million to spend even after getting Gus. I’m thinking along the lines of what the Capitals paid to get rid of Paník in the Vrana/Mantha trade

The comparable was the Savard trade and 4th period suggested if Chychrun is being held up, Kings could look into Orlov. Also it’s not a rental if you plan to re-sign the player.

Eller is mostly just fodder, he can go anywhere. But I'd argue that center depth of Matthews-Tavares-Kerfoot/Eller-Kampf is very solid

Orlov should absolutely get a 1st. If he's on the market, he's automatically one of the best defenseman. Only Chychrun and Karlsson are arguably better.

I was unclear how to gauge Hathaway's value as a 4th liner. Normally I'd say a 4th but NYR lacked a 4th round pick this draft.

Mantha is pure optimism on my end lol. I just hope his value isn't garbage in the event he finally gets it going somewhere and we look dumb for getting so little back.

Jensen getting a 2nd is probably most realistic. You never know what GMs will spend a 1st on this time of year and it's a bit of wishful thinking on my end. But smart teams that value analytics are definitely aware of the skill he brings and I bet would be okay paying

Valid. I looked at the Gustafsson trade as him being worth a 2nd himself this season (career year + very cheap) and then paying us to take all of Puljujarvi being worth a 2nd. So it's basically two-in-one deal

To outbid other teams = mid-round pick/a decent prospect

Basically the equivalent of a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd or 4th. The deal must be better than Chiarot

On pace for 28 goals, with retention a team pays league minimum for a near 30 goal scorer who can play on any line. Doesn't seem far-fetched if there's a bidding war. I agree that normally it's too high and I'm still skeptical he can get a 1st. A 2nd most likely

Pretty on the ball. Sheary is the one I’m having a hard time trying to guess fair value. I would be shocked if we got a 1st for him, but a 2nd is where I’m at. Orlov and Jensen can definitely get 1st rounders and more, especially with retention

If Capitals were to sell, I don’t think Wilson would be one on the market. He could get tremendous value but I’d look for Washington to sell off a ton of their pending UFAs as rentals to desperate teams pushing for the playoffs or to get a leg up on contenders. My eye is on Orlov
