Bedard to DC

On pace for 28 goals, with retention a team pays league minimum for a near 30 goal scorer who can play on any line. Doesn't seem far-fetched if there's a bidding war. I agree that normally it's too high and I'm still skeptical he can get a 1st. A 2nd most likely

Pretty on the ball. Sheary is the one I’m having a hard time trying to guess fair value. I would be shocked if we got a 1st for him, but a 2nd is where I’m at. Orlov and Jensen can definitely get 1st rounders and more, especially with retention

Caps need to sell. This season is a lost cause. If necessary and available, we can try to get Boeser in the offseason. We absolutely cannot afford to give up our own 1st when its currently a top 10 pick

Someone to ride shotgun with Hughes
If Capitals were to sell, I don’t think Wilson would be one on the market. He could get tremendous value but I’d look for Washington to sell off a ton of their pending UFAs as rentals to desperate teams pushing for the playoffs or to get a leg up on contenders. My eye is on Orlov

In no way is Drouin worth a 2nd, even with the retention. That’s what Montreal has to do no matter what to move him.

With how our season is going, we won’t be trading a first this year. But otherwise I would do that if you take out the 2nd round pick

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>I was supporting your comment.
Holland ran Detroit at a time when they were a contender year-in, year-out. He never once traded a 1st for a rental. I consider that relevant information. Keeping your firsts (especially in a cap era) or only trading them for a player under contract is how you stretch a 3 year window into a 10 year window.</div></div>
Did not know that about Holland at all, but wow. Agree that is relevant

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SupremeBone</b></div><div>The equivalent of 2 1sts for any pending UFA is pretty nuts. EDM passes easily. Given the team hasn't traded their 1st over the past few years and Holland has said he won't move a 1st for rental, I think you're targeting the wrong team with Orlov. Jensen as a rental might be of interest if they can find a way to move Barrie.</div></div>
Understandable and didn’t know that about Holland. My value estimation was if Chiarot could get a 1st, Orlov definitely can. The high-end/upper level prospect then is for 50% retention. Either way, probably worth a 1st and 2nd round/high end prospect in total. Teams will be desperate for a top 4 D like that, so it’s a matter of seeing who would bite

Wilson is pretty untouchable for the Caps. His presence is missed already in the lineup and locker room.

Next Season 2
This is very solid imo, similar to some things I had as well. I'm so torn on which goalie to keep but one of them is gone 100%. Like you, I also want to sign Husso to a deal. I had him getting a 5x5 given the really competitive goalie market this summer.
Eller I think is gone for McMichael to be the 3C. Idk what Hagelin's status is but Larsson has slotted in so well (and would be cheaper) that I think he is a valid option to bring back if we can trade Hagelin. AJF can also fit in there.
I think Protas, while maybe not a 20 goal scorer, could fit on that 3rd line. He was really impressive in his time here and could be a surprise. Vatrano would be good there too.
Rather than Kulak, I had the Caps getting Lybushkin. He's done really well so far in Toronto and reminds me of Jensen where he's a very good defensive defenseman but can create some offense if given chances. Jensen has had a fantastic year and could see Lybushkin having similar success to that. I also had Alexeyev as our 7D

Flip a coin and that's who starts at this point. Samsonov has the better win record but worse stats and make a lot of silly mistakes; Vanecek has the worse record but better stats yet can't make the big saves. Our team defense needs to be impeccable to bail out the goalies and try to expose Playoff Bob

Husso is a bit younger and puts up just as good numbers this year. Idk if I trust Campbell as much, maybe that’s just me, but either would be solid

Understandable with the price point. Where I’m coming from with that number is how competitive the goalie market will be. Us, Oilers, Devils, Sabres, Blackhawks, maybe the Leafs and Wild are teams I can think of for the goalie market

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tjm220</b></div><div>As a Sabres fan I think I would be perfectly happy with Lars Eller replacing Cody Eakin. I was under the impression that Washington was more willing to trade Samsonov than Vanicek. Vanicek seems to have higher trade value right now, but he’s also played better. What is Samsonov’s trade value?</div></div>
I could not tell you either of their trade value anymore tbh. They both have their weaknesses and right when you think Ike of them may be getting it together it falls apart. Vanecek has better numbers throw season, but oddly enough, Samsonov has a better record. It makes no sense.
With Eller, I figured for Buffalo being up and coming it can’t hurt to have a veteran middle 6 center. He’s looked the best he has all season playing with Mantha and Wilson on the wings. I love what he brings on and off the ice but a real possibility for cap casualty and efforts to try to get younger

You're right, they probably could get a 2nd rounder or two in reality because of the demand. May make that edit
