Injury Forced Tank

Description
Capitals are facing some tough injuries which are probably gonna derail their season. If they won't make the playoffs this year from injury, I say they should take advantage of this deep draft and sell to increase lottery chances. They have a ton of guys on expiring contracts to trade out as rentals around the trade deadline to get some draft and prospect stock.

It’s be pretty cool if WSH and PIT tank hard this season and end up getting Bedard and Michov as the next Crosby/Ovi

The equivalent of 2 1sts for any pending UFA is pretty nuts. EDM passes easily. Given the team hasn't traded their 1st over the past few years and Holland has said he won't move a 1st for rental, I think you're targeting the wrong team with Orlov. Jensen as a rental might be of interest if they can find a way to move Barrie.

Highly doubt Caps miss. Even with all their injuries they are quite good. BUT If they look lke they are out of the chase come January I'm all for something like this.

I think that price for Orlov is a bit steep for Edmonton and they really should try resigning him.

Thats a lot for a rental. Bourgault is important because edmonton is low on skilled RW prospects. Very low chance edmonton is able to resign a russian.

I was talking Washington resign Orlov instead of trading him

Edmonton has never traded their 1st for a player. Holland has never traded a 1st for a rental.

Sure, but their entire history isn't something I deem relevant to this AGM. What matters is that Holland hasn't traded it the past few years despite being in a position where it could've been justified.

I was supporting your comment.

Holland ran Detroit at a time when they were a contender year-in, year-out. He never once traded a 1st for a rental. I consider that relevant information. Keeping your firsts (especially in a cap era) or only trading them for a player under contract is how you stretch a 3 year window into a 10 year window.

Ah, my bad! Not sure how I read it, but I guess I succumbed to the typical assumption of antagonistic tones on CF.

Understandable and didn’t know that about Holland. My value estimation was if Chiarot could get a 1st, Orlov definitely can. The high-end/upper level prospect then is for 50% retention. Either way, probably worth a 1st and 2nd round/high end prospect in total. Teams will be desperate for a top 4 D like that, so it’s a matter of seeing who would bite

Did not know that about Holland at all, but wow. Agree that is relevant
