I know no money talks, but UFAs have choice of where they play, and right now, the Canucks would be at near bottom of virtually all players "wish list".

I think with Tocchet in now. Horvat is staying. That's his type of player.

Miller and Boeser will be gone.

There will be many things beyond the FOs mishandling of Boudreau that will impact decisions. Money, fit, head coach style and approach, lifestyle and location before players start thinking about the rest.

At the same time, I don't know that the FO is capable of not tripping over their feet and being able to put together a team like this. Crappy Dickinson dump, Marino there for the taking, making a lame duck coach situation terrible and still seem unsure where it's going.

I think Horvat is checked out to be honest. He's pretty mild mannered but he seems disinterested now when I see his interviews. It'll be another chapter closed with some emotion when the trade happens IMO. They'd have to overpay to get him back interested. I think one of Boeser and Garland are gone but I think Garland goes given Petey and Brock's relationship and his cap hit will be a bit easier to move if they want to get it done before the TDL.

Hard to believe that Anaheim isn't on Myers' crummy-team list, but if the Ducks aren't, save that trade until after the draft, keep your 2023 third, make it your 2024 third and pay Myers' bonus; we'll give you our 2024 sixth and seventh.

I have nothing against Tocchet, the Canucks or their fans. But I don't know if Tocchet is the right guy....past this year. IMO he's another one of those "made for TV guys", who talks and looks good on TV but don't know if really has the stomach for being an NHL coach now. (it's a real heavy work/travel. schedule) Maybe I'm the thoughts are slanted but I've seen so many of these ex coaches, executives, get fired then go TV, then get NHL jobs, and then fired again.

Its being reported that Miller is untradable with his contract and canucks are unable to move Boeser at his full cap hit
Unless the figure out now else to make cap space, Horvat at his current demands is out the door

Its not worth wasting assets to dump Pearson, buy him out or keep him, keep the asset(s), his buyout is manageable.

Absolutely nobody is touching that Miller contract. Rutherford disasterclass signing. They're stuck with that until its over

We'll find out soon. My thoughts are he's not the coach you bring in if you're going to put Bruce through the gauntlet (risk reputation with the FO with regards to coaches). It better be someone like Trotz.

Definitely offseason moves at best. No cap in season to do that.

I wouldn't want money on the books beyond knowing OEL buyout is possible. But I don't know what the cap hit is for their buyout. That said, I like this made up roster but I don't trust that the FO can make good roster building moved and aren't just a bunch of turds.

can you really risk holding onto Bo at the deadline then trying to extend him last minute before July 1st? Bc if you trade him at the deadline, hes gone for good

No you cannot. He has to be moved and soon. Can't risk injury or a cold streak. But Aquilini probably wants to sell some Horvat all star jerseys.

The other two, Boeser in particular, could be moved in the offseason for a a good return. Just no cap with contenders in season.

OH for sure, those guys are off-season moves, but they are unrelated to opening up space for Bo. I just think once the deadline happens, hes gone via trade and they move onto a new era with EP as the captain.

For sure. I didn't explain that well enough. Anyway, I was ready for Torts and JT so this is about as close to second place it can get. It's going to be entertaining to see how Tocchet handles this unsettled team.

I see it getting a lot worse for the canucks, they wont get that new coach bump. Bieska said on the broadcast how coaches like to come in and break players down, to rebuild them up to fit their systems, and weed out the guys who can go and who cant go in the way he wants them to play

I can see a lot of guys not interested/fed up and not responding to this mid season.

I like horvat but this a bad situation giving him that contract, they put themselves in a corner and have no other option

If he goes to market I think he signs for less. Like his gaudreau did compared to the flames offers.
