I think he has top 4 potential too. Dmen take longer to develop, and hockey fans have forgotten not every player hits their potential by the time they are 21

His quickness and edges are fantastic. I wish I could root more for him but I'll probably end up disliking him somewhat because from my experience a number of habs fans get very upset any time a part of a player's game is criticised.
I have recently had people get upset with me for saying "I think Slafkovsky will be better than Brady Tkachuk, but he currently has a problem with taking penalties"

Savard might get more than Zadorov
Best comp to go to 15 OA from 23 is Wings trading up to get Cossa</div></div>
Thanks for the suggestions, of course there can be more than one comp.
The result of using those would be pretty close though. Not gonna argue about adding /taking out a low pick here and there.

And i would value them the same like of they werent working out for there teams a 1 for 1 would seem fair.</div></div>
This isn’t even really a criticism of Caufield. Raymond’s development in the last year has been absurd.
Started the season 12 pounds heavier and a clear step ahead of where he was last season. He’s a rare case I can recall (From players I track regularly at least) where you can literally see his progression over the season.
Wouldn’t trade him 1 for 1 for Caufield ever. Larkin getting injured was Raymond’s coming out party.

I've done some thought about it and Huberdeau might be as much of a negative asset as the biggest stars are positive assets.
Would you take 7 years of Huberdeau at 10.5 mill to get 2 years of McDavid at 12.5 mill?? I'm not sure I would.
Are matthews+Huberdeau worth 24 mill combined over the next 4 years+ worth taking on the last 3 years of huberdeau's deal? I'm not sure.

Mtl - Van the draft
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GuyGuyGuy</b></div><div>Mikheyev is a fourth liner. He is bad and a huge cap dump. Anderson is a fourth liner who is also a huge cap dump.
Suter can be easily replaced in FA.
So when Mikheyev has an ACL injury, his value is still good, but when Dach has one, that destroys his value? Coming back from an injury is a normal thing in this league</div></div>
It is a trade that makes no sense for either party.
A couple of counter points
First Mik is not a 4th line player, he played last year on the 1st line with a torn ACL and then the recovery time to full speed is 18 months so we wont see that this year.
Second Suter can't be easily replaced in FA for his cap hit, he is averaging the 5th most ice time for the Canucks forwards, you are not filling that for 1.6M.
Last on the counter points you're trying to compare Dach to Mik which a) I don't think are the two guys you should be comparing and b) as an off season trade you're now talking about a fully healed Mik and Dach wh still wont be up to speed until April 2025 and his injury was a full tear of the ACL and MCL which is more serious.
Forget about the fact that Canucks lose 2 guys that are versatile and have regularly played games in the top 6 and kill penalties and are on the PP and have been successful playing in the bottom 6.
Even if you look at it and see that for next year Dach for Suter is a wash and Mik for Anderson is a wash the Canucks are still giving up a prospect but that probably doesn't matter next year, except its another asset they don't have for the future.
Forget that because more importantly the Canucks as they are trying to build a contender this trade has them take on more cap and take on an extra year of Anderson's contract.
And it is a bad trade for the Habs because you take the bet 7 days a week that Dach will have a better future than Suter long term.
So to conclude Dach for Suter is a huge risk for the Canucks as Dach is over twice as expensive and coming off a major injury and a bad trade for the Habs because Dach is the younger player with potentially more upside.
Mik for Anderson is a bad trade for the Canucks because it adds an extra year of term, but honestly not a bad bet for the Habs and it adds a special teams guy.
Canucks lose a prospect that could be used in a trade that would help them now.

I keep seeing Matheson and Pettersson history. What did he do?</div></div>
Dach might also be too risky for the Canucks with his injury history. Definitely makes more sense for Montreal to keep him and hope he can stay healthy and live up to his potential
In Pettersson’s rookie year Matheson picked him up and slammed him to the ice after a hit giving him a concussion. The hit itself was fine but it was Matheson picking him up and slamming him to the ice after that was a problem. And Pettersson seemingly still has bad blood with him

I do like Barron but I still would hope the Canucks could get a bit better of an offer if they move Hronek. But I wouldn’t absolutely hate the WPG 1st + Barron + Kovacevic (or another piece if we only want to acquire one RHD in the trade)
If there’s a trade for an impact NHLer on the table I think I’d rather take that though

Also Armia is also a plus 3 on a team that has a team collective +/- of minus 48 before tonight's game against the Leafs.
Being sent down to the minors woke him up
I agree he is totally worth his contract because of his strong defensive play, if he can repeat this offensive output next year he will be very valuable to the Habs
Other team's fans crap on Armia because he was sent down to the AHL but if they saw the way he has played since getting recalled they would know how valuable he has become.
That is why he is nominated for the Masterson Trophy

Trouble with Sequin he isn't great or even very good now. Believe it was hip surgery that has really affected his skating. For his cap of 9.8m, Habs find better UFAs. Not really game changing centres this summer thought.

Logan Couture would be the best option as a number 2C for 2-3 years if they cant sign Monahan in the offseason or trade for a Lundell type after the Sharks dumped Hertl. SJS should be willing to give up Logan for little with that cap hit. They DONT have to dump him but if they can get anything at all they should as they did with Hertl. SJS are starting from scratch and they are 2-3 years behind the Habs rebuild. A 2nd and a 3rd would be more than enough and the Habs have 12 picks in 1st 3 rounds the next 2 drafts.

Gotta think Hughes is trying to figure, who are the best seven Dmen for next season. No problem having too many competent NHL Dmen.
As suggested...could the Habs trade a couple of cost of efficient Dmen for a premium expensive forward to team that needs cap?

100% agree. And I think a large part of why I prefer Casey is likely because of what NJD needs. We aren't necessarily trying to find that number 1 dman. And so I likely subconsciously prefer the safer bet to provide cheap quality hockey for the devils contention window.

Similar prospects. Might be bias on my side but I think Casey translates better to the NHL.
Better skater, a touch bigger, with better defensive play and willing to be physical if needed.
