So... Boston? I think we'd need a bigger rink up here, a better owner, and we'd still pay for the tickets. Only $10 for a beer in Boston is a pretty good deal.

The cup may be a lock, but you'd need to sell a whole lot of popcorn and beer to cover all of those contracts. Thank God for the salary cap.

I very much agree. I think Caps probably reject this. However, I think Hatty brings the attitude this club needs and helps change the culture. He's buried in Washington. I'd like to see him get more games. I think Buffalo is a place for him to show more.

HARD PASS
No team can operate effectively with $11K in cap space. That's just silly.
Don't need a $3+M backup goalie especially when you have two already in the AHL who both would cost less than half that.
This team needs to resign Ovechkin, Vrana, and Samsonov at the end of the season. Why would they lock $3.25M into Gudas and another $3.33M into a backup? They will likely need at least $10M in cap space to sign Ovechkin, Vrana, and Samsonov.

We've seen Shatty in DC. Not that interested in bringing in a guy who has been disappearing in the back half of seasons and Shattenkirk won't be looking for one year deal. He's also supposed to be a power play asset. He would't crack this power play except to replace Ovi at the end of one for six seconds. Your UFA signings leave the team with $171K in cap space to operate for the year. Again, Caps say no thanks.

If Ovi leave our Replacement
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Habs123</b></div><div>Our replacement is Dadonov and if you day it’s not enough we still have Vrana in our future
And yea I’m going to modify sam to starter</div></div>
You need to do a lot more modifying:
Ovechkin plays left wing. You're not moving him back over to the right side. He's not going back to the right wing. It's pretty clear that Ovechkin plans to sign for four more years to coincide with the Backstrom deal. If Ovechkin is not staying then you're dealing him. There is no way you're going to let him walk. So, you need to trade Ovi.
Siegenthaler isn't signing for under $1M.
There is no way Holtby stays in Washington. It doesn't make financial sense. He's also not going to take a pay cut.
Kovalchuk unlikely to stay. It sounds like he wants to go back to Montreal.
Dadanov is at least $6M per.
There is no way this team is going to function all season with only $75,--- in cap space. Granted that space is freed up if you do your Ovechkin deal

This is good
The problem with signing Gudas, or anyone for the Caps right now, is that you're going to have to re-sign Vrana, Ovechkin, and Samsonov. That's at least $10 in cap space that you're going to have to spend. It's doable, but that's if you let Gudas walk after this year, too. Gudas has already publicly stated he does not expect to be back with Washington next season. I wouldn't be surprised to see Jensen also moved to allow Alexeyev, Johansen, and Lewington to crack the lineup. Between them and Siegenthaler, ou have four men all ready to compete for spots 5-7 on the defensive depth chart. That also doesn't include Fehervary, Hobbs, and Nardella who could also be considered "NHL ready." I think you'll start to see Washington working these guys into their lineups this year and start creating more cap space.

Caps decline. Caps need to shed salary. There really isn’t a spot for Chiasson as much as we all loved him when we he was here.

Trade with BOS
It's not a bad deal, but there just isn't a lot of Depth D in Boston right now. I don't think they can afford to take this deal given the state of their D corp right now. They are more looking to add D than trade it away.

You are probably not wrong with what the Devils would give up. However, I will disagree that Matthews is a top 5 Center in this league, now. He is a top center for his age, and he puts up points, but I wouldn't say he's in my top 10 around the league right now. Totally subjective, and you have every right to disagree and I can see your argument. I just wouldn't put him there... yet. I do forget he's only 22.
Because I know you may ask. I trust these guys at 1C before Matthews. That doesn't mean he won't be better in the end:
McDavid
Crosby
Toews
Malkin
MacKinnon
Bergeron
Backstrom
Stamkos
Kopitar

I think y'all are over estimating what you can get for Matthews when the rest of the league knows you're in salary cap hell. However, I worked a different deal looking at return more than getting out of cap hell. Thoughts?

Depth - NJD EDM
I think there is enough potential in the Caps system that they don't need to go take on an additional $2.15M in Chiasson. Copley already proved himself a capable backup the previous season. Why spend an additional $900,000 to bring in a backup? That's not a bad price for Siegenthaler. Ovechkin, Samsonov, and Vrana all have contracts up after that season. I don't think you want to tie up any additional cap space at all. I'd see what you have in Alexeyev instead of bringing in Mueller. That $3.5-ish million could go to keeping Vrana. Moving on from Lars Eller, Nick Jensen, and Richard Panik after this season would give you enough space to lock up Ovi for four more years, sign Samsonov to something long term, and give the Caps some cap space while letting Johansen slide into the top-6.

My 2020-21 Projected Caps Roster
Samsonov will definitely be the starter. Thanks for catching that mistake.
Honestly, no. I don't think Jonsson-Fjallby is ready. He is more of a place holder. I think they will sign someone. However, I think there is a possibility that he may get a look at the beginning of the season before they decide whether he is worth keeping or not. I wasn't overly impressed with his attitude last season. I think that may have soured me on his actual potential.
They need to make room at least $2M for Ovi next season, and keep an additional $3M for Vrana. I see 20-21 being Eller's last year in DC. I am hoping McMichael will fill into that 3C roll. I don't think they need $5.5M tied into Haglen and Panik. I could see one or both of those two going by end of the trading deadline next season. That will help them to sign Samsonov long term. I expect that to be around a $6.5M cap hit.

If you can land Barkov, fantastic. I'm not sure that's going to be enough, though. I think Drouin is a cancer. There is no need to bring him in. I think you're over spending on Burakovsky. I don't think you can break up that top line. It's too damn good.

CBO - Short Term Moves to Win
Creative, and the Sabres have so much potential. I think you can get more for Ristolainen. I don't think AZ is the right trading partner there. I don't think you should spend $4M on a 6th D man. I think the team really needs a culture change.
