I know you Leaf fans will rip me apart for daring to delve into y'all's team. Let me know what you think. Obviously I am making an assumption that Zajac would be willing to wave his NTC to Toronto.

Think you get enough/to little for Matthews in this scenario?

Bro, you're so off it's not even close. Anything involving Matthews and the devils start with Hughes ++ or Hischier +++.

You are asking for a 22 years old top 5/10 center in the league. An already PPG player/40 goals scorer with potential of 100pts/50 goals seasons, and he's signed for 4 years. Just for comparison, if the leafs signed an offersheet last year, they would have got 4x1st wich is already better than what you are offering. Im a habs fan by the way and I hate the leafs.

Zajac is 35 man, close to retirement and declining, a contending team trying to get depth on the middle would give you a 2nd and a late pick for him. The fact that you are not even offering the devils first is crazy, even if they win the lottery with that pick leafs says no IMO.

Gee, the Matthews trade isn't even the worse part of the post. Resigning Barrie is. And the 6m figure. He was maybe a 2m player last year.

This is the worst Matthews trade I’ve ever seen. Change Zajac to Hughes and I might take it.

I think y'all are over estimating what you can get for Matthews when the rest of the league knows you're in salary cap hell. However, I worked a different deal looking at return more than getting out of cap hell. Thoughts?

You are probably not wrong with what the Devils would give up. However, I will disagree that Matthews is a top 5 Center in this league, now. He is a top center for his age, and he puts up points, but I wouldn't say he's in my top 10 around the league right now. Totally subjective, and you have every right to disagree and I can see your argument. I just wouldn't put him there... yet. I do forget he's only 22.

Because I know you may ask. I trust these guys at 1C before Matthews. That doesn't mean he won't be better in the end:
McDavid
Crosby
Toews
Malkin
MacKinnon
Bergeron
Backstrom
Stamkos
Kopitar
Tavares

Yeah I totally see your point! I would take all of those guys before him to win a Stanley cup. I may have exagerated a bit to prove how ridiculous the offer was. If I had to chose a center to build a team around, then he is defenitly top 10 because now you have to consider age.

So I 100% agree with you, but I will counter with an top 10 young centers you choose to start a team right now (without using any on your list) just for the fun of it!

1.Draisaitl
2.Barkov
3.Matthews
4.Eichel
5.Scheifle
6.Aho
7.Petterson
8.Point
9.Barzal
10.Dubois

Totally subjective for me too!

I can totally agree. Our 1-3 are the same. I’d swap 4 with 5.
