We are already losing the trade without retaining. Also, It's being held when we have to pay guys in 1/2 years.

If Colorado re-signs Barkov they win this trade hands down. I'd change the condition to Florida gets a 1st for every year the Avs win the cup with Barkov after the 1st 2 years.

2 ELITE prospects a 22yr old with with 40-50 pt potential and a 1st rd pick. Offers don’t get better than that.

Barkov is also one of the better players in the league and they are getting a bunch of unknown. Would definitely have to give them someone who can atleast fill the gap.

It's not that this is a bad offer, just that when a team trades a prime aged, legit #1 C they are about 99% sure to lose the trade.

trading for prospects has always been about getting on uncharted territory, but the difference between a bluechip and a regular prospect is the odds of turning into an elite players is higher.

If they wanted a player like say Burakovsky then one of Byram or Newhook would have to come out. Those 2 aren’t just top Avs prospects but top prospects in the NHL. If that meant augmenting with a conditional pick because of their removal I could live with that too.

Yes that's true. but Colorado is getting a #1C in his early prime on a steal of a contract. You are going to have to give up A LOT to get that.

If you can land Barkov, fantastic. I'm not sure that's going to be enough, though. I think Drouin is a cancer. There is no need to bring him in. I think you're over spending on Burakovsky. I don't think you can break up that top line. It's too damn good.
