<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tkecanuck341</b></div><div>I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that Dach would have to have been returned to juniors if he didn't make the team, while Turcotte can play in the NCAA. If Turcotte had chosen the CHL route, I bet we would have seen him in the NHL this season as well.

Turcotte is a quality two-way player with consistency. All the draft reports said that Dach had the higher ceiling, but only seemed to bring his A-game about half the time. Turcotte's ceiling is lower, but he's on his game every single night. The Kings have always preferred two-way players to offense-first guys, which is why they are happy with Turcotte. Dach might have been the better choice for other clubs, but the Kings went with the right choice, IMO.</div></div>

Okay, maybe some bias here, but in no way shape or form do I think Dach has a higher ceiling. Not a freakin chance. Dach has the higher floor, as every hawks fan will tell you. However, that’s the big difference in my eyes between those two that I desire from turcotte. Turcotte has no quit. He knows he’s slightly (but not really) smaller but he plays like a god damn pit bull. It’s all energy all the time. Dach continues, from his junior days, to be inconsistent. There are games where you genuinely forget he’s there. Turcotte doesn’t settle for that, and he never settles for not getting better. If the points aren’t coming, his performance won’t be lazier or lax. He’ll just keep coming. I’ve seen it for the last 3 years. I still don’t see that with dach yet. I don’t want a guy who has a good game and then takes 10 straight off.

Kings, enjoy the young lad, he can and should be great. Hawks fans, enjoy the young lad, he can and better be great.
