One move only Leafs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>Don't agree with that. With Boqvist, Mitchell on the right who it would be absolutely stupid to trade given their upsides and the fact that Seabs is unmoveable then Murphy is out of position on the right next season. De Haan is pretty much unmoveable given his injuries but he is slated to be back. Keith is a lock. Maatta probably gets bought out given the emergence of Carlsson as a much cheaper option on the 3rd line. Again, where does Murphy play? Are you going to play him on the 2nd line on the left and move De Haan to the 3rd line on the left and let Carlsson be the 7th man? It's the only other option. This again assumes Maatta is traded or more likely bought out and Koekko walks.</div></div>
I am talking about now, not some mythical time when the Hawks prospects are NHL ready. Boqvist is ok nothing earth shattering. Mitchell is not in the NHL yet. I know what Murphy will bring to team. I know without him the team is less competitive.

Yes Pietrangelo would immediately impact the Flyers, but once the prospects have seasoning, that contract would be an albratross.

Big trade with Florida
If the Oilers were to trade with Florida why then must it be Huberdeau. The gem here should be Ekblad. The Oilers have enough offence. To be an elite team, they need a stud on defense. I am fully aware about Nurse. I am not convince he is an elite defenseman. Good defenseman yes. A game changer no.

MINNESOTA NEXT YEARS PLEASE COMMENT
Schenn is pretty well set to play for the Blues for many years until the team starts losing. He is part of the core, and I can’t expected him being moved any time soon. If the Wild need a 2 C, then a player who could be available is Patrick. Philly is deep in middle, and Patrick’s development is being stunted. He is not getting the ice time he needs.
From the Wild’s prospective, there is a risk, but the acquisition cost would be less and there is potential upside.
I like to hear Flyer fans prospective.

Arizona gave up a lot for mediocrity. My question is if Hall doesn’t help get the Coyotes into the post season, why then the rush to sign him?
As an athlete entering free agency, you want to have a memorable year and elevate your value. It is not happening here.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jzoni10</b></div><div>Why trade Murphy?</div></div>
The ONLY reason to entertain the thought of trading Murphy would be to acquire a better defenseman. I see far too many “dump” trades involving Murphy for a forward. It DOES NOT make the club better.

85 M cap nothing crazy
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>I really hope Strome isn't going to be hard on that number. He hasn't earned $5M despite his ppg totals. He's a really good center, but he should know better than anyone...you can go to a terrible team and stunt your development. Stay with the Hawks. Take a smaller shorter contract and just continue to develop. The money will come if you develop. If you get greedy today, there will be smaller paychecks down the road.</div></div>
I think $5 M is greedy. It will be a bridge, probably the same term as DeBrinicat. Last year was an excellent starting point, but both Strome & DeBrinicat have had long stretches not producing. If he was coming off a season better than last season he then would have more leverage. I think ballpark will be between $4 and 5 M.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jetman</b></div><div>CHI will want to wait for three years and re-sign Kane for 5m...He and Toews are the types to stay with CHI...</div></div>
It would be special if they can play their entire career wearing only one uniform. I know their is a camp out there who would like to see them move ... start the rebuild. However such moves it doesn’t necessarily make the team better. My feeling is you continue to build around the “hall a framers”
Here all the positives (but it could get bad) DeBrinicat rebounds from this nightmarish season. Kubalik scores 20 - 25 goals next season. Strome produces a 60 point season. Boqvist & Dach continue to develop and produce as 2nd year players.
Team MUST play better defensively. Reduce shots on goal. Play with the puck. Manage the puck. And provide puck support.

Chicago Blackhawks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>I liked last nights lines a lot. I'd keep them until they fail. Nylander/Strome/Kane solves a bunch of issues. Strome needs to be a center and Nylander has talent. Showcase it with Kane. I'm also bias with this next one, but Kuba/Toews/Saad was the line I've wanted to see since the season started. Keep them together.</div></div>
The club wasted most of the month of November trying to put a round peg in a square hole (Nylander on the 1st line and it did not work) Early in the year, there seemed to be some chemistry with Kane and Nylander and for some reason the pair were broken up. I agree. If Strome is to be an effective producer, he must be in the middle.

Team to be named later
Just looking at the value of this trade, if I was Dubas, I would be the one asking the Hawks for a pick.
Saad has another year before Leafs need to open the vault to resign him. De Haan will be 29, and has injury of history (risk). The Leafs are parting with two 23 year olds (signed beyond ‘21.) Boqvist would be the gem going back to Toronto, but it would not equal the pair of Leafs coming to Chicago, and it is premature to gamble on Boqvist as he lives up to the hype.

If Draisaitl remains on pace to win the Art Ross (possibly the Hart) then I would say Florida would need to offer more to fair up this trade. Good points made above.

Tremendous upside. Any team looking for stud d man should make an offer sheet. If the market bares $6, then offer more with 7-8 year term. Force Tampa to match and then fix their cap mess. There will be some gems available. The only way I see a team getting Sergachev.

Even moving him, some salary will be coming back. Tampa could get cap relief of $3-4 M. Tampa would be losing their best player in his prime, and still face a cap crunch. Best scenario, I think is moving an affordable contract like Kilorn or Johnson (yes, I am aware of their NTC) for a pick, like Miller last year.
It would be interesting seeing some trades involving Kucherov.

Retooling Next season
There has been no history of Hawks buying out contracts. You may not like Smith & Määttä but they would be move first before they are bought out.
Smith was a cap savings when Chicago moved Anismov as Strome replaced him as 2C. The Hawks penalty kill has been much better this season thanks to Smith contribution. Yes, I agree that $3.25 M is high for a 4th C when the Blackhawks have Kamp and Carpenter available. With the RFA’s on this club, Bowman’s will have to be creative this summer.
As I see it, the Hawks are still developing their defense prospects. They are not ready for the NHL. The Blackhawks were just terrible last year on defence. De Haan & Määttä were acquired to added experience on the blue line. Both players are cap friendly and have no movement clauses, so they can be moved in the future for the right opportunity.
The defense is improved from last season. I am not saying the D is stellar. You can’t give up 40 shots a game say you are elite. There is lots of improvement needed.
However, I don’t see this club needing to “blow it up” To me they are a couple of pieces away from competing. I have see much improvement in the Hawks puck management since November. Their forecheck and puck support is better.
This club needs to find consistency, whether it for 60 minutes or game to game.
