The team adjusted to a new defensive system earlier and played like s*** but has the best point percentage the last month and a half.</div></div>
I attributed part of the bad defensive play to Sergy and Vassy being out so that's already been acknowledged.
Shut down Kuch and keep TBL off the powerplay and this team is out in 5 games.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Brolekb2b</b></div><div>But if we're trying to win now with this core, why would we care about significant value of our own guys to trade away? Outside of those guys you mentioned, Nick Paul has been a solid 3C setting a career high at a cost-effective deal, Glendening for close to league minimum has improved TB's faceoff%, something we desperately needed. Motte and Jeannot both bring energy to the lineup but unfortunately both have been banged up quite a bit. The only real miss in the bottom six is Sheary, but a buyout or trade with sweetener opens up space for Duclair + Stamkos.
There's no reason to gut the whole thing, move Sheary, play Goncalves/Groshev instead next season, and it's still younger fourth line than Maroon-Bellemare-Perry.</div></div>
Lets keep it real here, the Lightning are highly unlikely to make it out of the first round let alone win the cup.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Justafan79</b></div><div>That's an utterly delusional statement if you look at what this team has locked up long term. After this season Kucherov 3 more years
Hagel 8
Cirelli, Cernak, Sergachev 7
Point 6
Paul 5
Vasilevskiy 4
This is the core of a team that's not a rebuild especially with cap going up</div></div>
If Kuch wasn't having the season he is having this team is not in the playoffs. Kuch is sitting on 43 goals and has the primary assist on 61 goals making him directly responsible for 104 goals of the teams combined 282 that's slightly under 40% of their goals. They are the 10th most scored on team in the league, yes I know Sergy is currently injured and Vassy has been injured a majority of the season but that's more of a reason to strengthen the depth.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Brolekb2b</b></div><div>No reason to move a reliable top 4 producing d-man and veteran presence/mentor for our future guys like Crozier, Lilleberg, Schmidt, etc. If TB was looking to get younger, the bottom six would be gutted like we did this last off-season instead of moving our franchise D-man.</div></div>
The problem with that is if you continue to "gut" your bottom six every other year you won't have anything of value and you won't be very competitive shortly after. TBL only has a small handful of guys that have significant value to trade to keep this team going for years to come, guys like Stanmmer Point Kuch Cirelli Sergy Headman and maybe Cernak are the only guys they have they could actually get value for. All those guys are locked up long term except Headman and Stammer so if this team wants to be competitive 2 yrs from now than they are going to have to do something soon otherwise this team will hold out like CHI did without Kane and Towes and go into a super long depressing rebuild.

After the best season of his career and currently sitting 23rd overall in scoring amongst defensemen Skjei is not taking a 250k raise, it's going to have to be more like a 1m raise and probably more to go to AZ soon to be Utah.

So OTT is giving up a late round 1st an injury prone young center and the worst starting goalie in the league in exchange for 2 high end prospect and a top 7 goalie in the league? Yeah keep dreaming and I'm not even a Preds fan so GL to you when they see this.

prob vs prob
PL is not going anywhere. Canadian fans need drop the thought process of potentially getting this man from the Kings. Only way Kings are trading PL is if they get something similar to what they gave up or better, both scenarios don't include Anderson or Gally. Otherwise you guys gotta give it up already its getting old.

Thats a pass by the Kings, tried to get Chychrun and didn't work now there is no need for him. Plus if the Kings have 4.6m to spend on Chychrun then they could just clear 1m more and resign Roy.

1.45M in Errson 3.85m in Peterson (while in the AHL 5m if hes called up) and 6m+2.5m in signing bonus for Markstrom making it a little over 11m+2.5m signing bonus in goalies while one is in the AHL doesn't seem like a good move for PHI.

Palmieri could be a good fit in LA but not at that price. LA has better options in free agency that wouldn't cost them any picks and around the same in cap. A guy like Toffoli is going to get about the same AAV, he produces more and is familiar with the system already not to mention loved by the LA fan base. If the NYI wanted a 2nd from LA for Palmieri they would have to retain so I'm positive this wouldn't work, a realistic counter from LA could be something like Kaliyev+3rd.

Which of these 3 moves is more likely
Kings are going to be looking for a goaltender first and foremost this off season then potentially a Matt Roy replacement then a top 6 winger. Once those are figured out they would consider shipping out Kaliyev for just picks but most likely Kaliyev will be in some sort of package for one of those three things. None of which MTL has to offer so likely Kaliyev wont be sent to MTL.

True true, all that means though is that the Kings have to throw something more into the TK trade. Like their 2026 2nd or just take out all the picks and make it only the 2024 and 2025 1st.

What a stupid award, everyone twists themselves into knots to find a way to give to someone who isn't the MVP.
Now we have to listen to leafies chant MVP, even though everyone knows McDavid and Mackinnon exist.</div></div>
Based on points Kuch is the most valuable player to his team. But my vote goes to the dawg himself MacKinnon. I'd be ok with either of them getting it.

Personally I believe DeBrincat is a good comparison. He signed a 4yrs 7.85m with DET, DeBrincat is more of a goal scorer and TK is more of a passer but both guys have similar stats so I think 9m is too far out of the question for TK even with the cap going up. 8m absolute max TK could get from anyone that is actually a playoff team.
