Big swings
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hii</b></div><div>I mean, the lack of development has really hurt them in recent years. Especially with their recent picks.</div></div>
That's the previous regime's fault, not the current regime's. FFS, people need to start being able to separate the wrong-doings of the previous regime that was here and give the new regime the fair shake that they deserve. The new regime was dealt an atrocious hand being brought in mid-season of 21-22, so being able to unload salary without severely compromising the team's long-term future was going to have to wait a little bit. They couldn't buy out OEL in 2022 because he was due a signing bonus, but since he wasn't owed anymore signing bonus money after that, they could buy him out in 2023. I understand many have questioned why new management spent cap space before they could clear it, but it's important to understand HOW they spent it. They didn't commit cap space to luxury or redundant pieces, they spent it on players who actually fill obvious spots on the roster and play well-defined roles for the team. J.T. Miller's slow start to last season was an issue of lacking accountability and standard of excellence, that's a discussion point for another time however, but Rick Tocchet does seem to have a better handle on how to motivate players and make them accountable than Boudreau ever did. As for player development, there is a REASON that management beefed up the staff assigned to fostering the upbringing of up and coming talent in the organization, because it obviously wasn't good enough before, so we have to give them at least 2-3 years worth of runway before we can assess the fruits of their labor, so no more bagging on the organization's player development until then

We def need Comtois/Suter and Tarasenko/Tatar

Lets try this
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GreatWhiteNorth</b></div><div>If Murray is bought out that puts you over the cap. I’m not sure why you changed the upper cap limit here, it would stay the same and you’d be over and forced to move someone.
I’ve also said this on another post - Garland doesn’t make sense because it’s costing you Pinto. Not in terms of trade, but contract status. Pinto is likely getting more than the $2.5M you have here, and I’m not sure why Ottawa fans keep devaluing him just to try to fit him in the cap. If it was that low he’d likely be signed by now.
The best comparison for Pinto is Kasperi Kapanen’s second contact, the one he signed with Toronto off he is ELC. Very similar production and very similar players at the time. Kapanen signed for 3.93% of the cap, so if that’s the number for Pinto then he’s signing a 2 or 3 year deal at $3,281,550M which you don’t have the cap for here, so it comes back to not making the deal for Garland.</div></div>
No the best comparable is the one Maxine Comtois signed after 33pts in 55 games. 2 x 2

Fair, I had not seen any rumors for Kane up to this point. So I am purely just speculating. But given the chemistry kane and cat had, I also imagine he wants to get paid and play for a potential winner. Wings have both but so does buffalo so dealers choice I suppose

Hey you remember how Sens fans kept insisting that they'd get a dragon haul for Cat, and got really angry when you told them to temper expectations?
Good times.
For example from this <a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/4262227">Thread</a>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Random2152</b></div><div>Not nearly as much as Sens fans believe.
1 year of team control, 9 mil QA, a down year depressing his value, Dubois also being on the market - sapping his market, etc
They'll get a late 1st and a B+ if they're lucky</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>csick</b></div><div>Lol what a terrible take. He submitted a list of 10 teams and assuming he gets traded to one of them , they’re gonna get a good return including roster players. Anyway I actually think Dorian did alright for the situation - but it's still a clear win for DET - especially with limiting the deal to 4 years.

OTT says no anyways, they have Watson on the roster and Kassian isn't playing top 6. As well doubt Puljujärvi could play top 6, so your are wasting valuable bottom 6 roster spots that prospects should be filling.

Kemell also plans to go back for next year.</div></div>
Yeah I figured. As I said I think he stays in Finland I just put him there to emphasize that trade as it was the main takeaway from this ACGM. This is realistically what their lineup could look like in 2-3 years. I just wanted to show that Kemell would be awesome with Crosby eventually

I jus don’t know if brown is enough of an improvement over one of the players we would be letting walk to make space for him. Might just make more sense to resign Danton Heinen or Evan Rodrigues instead of trading our top D prospect. The reason you see a lot of Pitt fans trading pettersson is to make room for Joseph

this year has a top 5 after Wright, but next year has a big 3. It seems this year's draft is deeper for quality (Like 2017,18), but next year's will have much more prominent players out of those big 3. A lot more euro players this year so the Canadian media doesn't care about them (looking at you 2020 draft)

What is funny is that many uses Ottawa as a team that would "weaponize cap space", yet they have barely done that during their 5 years rebuild. It's like some people never learn anything
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hii</b></div><div>I gonna rip my hair out if I see another Bailey to Ottawa. This is the worst one so far.

It would be less painful to just forfeit the pick
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hii</b></div><div>Also Ottawa declines.
Reasoning is because while Garland is pretty good Ottawa has a potentially better player in Greig that is not that far away so Ottawa doesn't need to go pay what could be a core piece of the future for a player that is not needed.
Woo is not needed cause we already have Thompson, JBD, and Guennette so he will struggle to find playing time as it is.
And the third does not make up for the lack of value in the other two pieces.</div></div>
Hard to be more "diplomatic" than that!
