2016-2017
I'll be honest, I didn't really think that far into it. I was kind of just seeing what the 16-17 season would be like.
If the Hawks found a way to off Bickell this year and sign Kruger they will be cup contending in 15-16. If not they would still need to off Bickell in the 16-17 season and sign someone of similar capabilities as Kruger.
But they have the opportunity to keep an almost identical roster going into the 16-17 season with aging players maybe having one more year of GOOD hockey left and youngsters beginning to thrive. IMO they will make the finals that year for sure.

Here is the Leaf trade with Hawks
I'd have to agree, I don't see Shaw going anywhere.
Also can't imagine the Hawks giving up their top prospect/rookie in any sort of deal.
I do like the movement of Daley plus a sweetner for a defending defenseman.

No trade required
A team only gets cap relief on LTIR. Which means someone would have to be out for more than 4-6 weeks for the cap relief to be there. Unless its rundblad or Van Riemsdyk that gets injured short term the Hawks are almost SOL for however long that player is injured. A 22 man roster is really what would be needed. Either way something has to budge on this roster for them to be season ready.

Bickell Or Versteeg
I'm not sure where you get the 50,000 in savings. That 50,000 is what is held under the NHL cap and the other 950,000 is AHL cap hit.
The final 3 guys are really irrelevant in this because a 23 man roster with 400,000 extra allows for any movement (of the final 3 guys) Coach Q wants between AHL and NHL.
The Hawks need another defensive minded defensemen as Daley is brutal defensively and rundblad will continue struggle the entire year. The Hawks win because they don't allow many goals and have the offensive power up front to score. They aren't in need of an offensive defenseman. *read description*

Chicago repeat, or did they lose too many pieces to the puzzle?
Need a way to sign Kruger. He is a vital part of the Blackhawks team as he is top PK player and a shutdown fourth line center.
Also need at least a 22 man roster or the team will run into trouble throughout the season.
Teuvo will play 3rd line center.
Darling over Crawford likely wont happen in the playoffs but he will probably see lots of games this season.

Why trade Rundblad for nothing? This is a pointless trade on the Hawks part.
The kruger and erhoff deals are far too low.

Could probably get a bit more for Versteeg as he is a solid 3rd liner for only 2.2m.
Trade Morin and Tropp for a decent defensive prospect not a very low value 4th round pick.
I agree with Lari that Kruger would already be signed if that's all he wanted. He is more like 5 years at 2.25m to 2.5m or 6+ years at 2m to 2.25m.

Blackhawks 22.0? I Lost Count.
No way would the Hawks trade so much of there team.
Seabrook, core player. Versteeg, semi core player (Rockford, grew to NHL on Hawks then cup winner with Hawks in 2010). Bickell, core teammate. Shaw, very important character player.
Trading two of them isn't a stretch but trading more than 2 is a stretch.

Retain 1 mil of Bickell. Sign Kruger to long term 2.3 mil and go with a 22 man roster. I know Q likes the 23 man roster but he might be okay with 22 if this is the case.

More Blackhawks Realism
Finally someone agrees with me that Bickell isn't completely worthless in a trade. Smitty and Orionus are right. Yes Bickell had a bad season. Terrible actually. Yes he is overpaid for how he has been playing. However he is a second or good third line forward on 50% of the teams in the league.
Also, just to clarify, I am not a Bryan Bickell fan in the slightest bit. Hated the contract he got the day I learned about it.

Best Blackhawks scenario I've seen on here. I don't know who Fournier is but if he is a defensive prospect I like it. They need to refill D prospects after giving away their best two. All of this lineup makes sense, but i don't see Versteeg as a top six. I also like Hartman over Baun.

Crawford Out
Very very little of this makes sense. Kruger doesn't take a 1 year deal let alone at 2 mil. You will get a much better return for Crawford. Bickell doesn't move without a sweetener. Detroit doesn't trade howard for McNeil and the hawks don't give up another 1st rounder. You don't receive a better return for Morin than you do for Versteeg.

how about that
I can't tell if you were just being lazy and didn't put anything in the receive section for the hawks in that trade or if you just think that they will give players away. Either way no team is going to give players away without receiving picks or prospects. Contrary to popular belief Bickell does have SOME value (little to none for cap crunch teams), morin has some /little value, and a 3rd round pick has better value. The Blackhawks would likely try for a good defensive prospect. Other than that its a good lineup.

What is the point of the Rundblad trade? The blackhawks would never make that trade.
Kruger doesn't take less than 2.25 unless the deal is more than 5 years.

I understand what you're saying here and I don't think its far fetched at all but I just don't see the Hawks giving up any high picks in the upcoming drafts anymore. They have given too many away recently and have given away A prospects also. They are going to attempt to rebuild/stock up below while scraping the cap ceiling. Core guys will continue to eat up huge amounts of cap with a very fluid bottom half of the lineup each year coming from slight trades and AHL prospects with entry level contracts. I'd think maybe the Bickell trade you proposed would have the draft picks flipped so chicago receives the 2016 pick. I am not convinced with any Seabrook trade but lots of people have been throwing it around since that article came out saying he should be traded. It would really depend on what seabrook is looking for and you HAVE to assume Stan and seabrook have already been in small discussions about an extension so I'm sure both sides have some idea how it will play out. I keep shaw and ask for a good prospect instead of weber. This is one of the better "seabrook trade" scenarios I have seen though.

I like this scenario you have here. Only thing is Kruger will not go for under 2 and I would say changes is Anisimov will play 2nd line center for sure (that's what we got him for). Then you have dano teuvo tikhonov switching between 1 LW, 3 C, and 3RW but tikhonov never being 1 LW. Possibly Panarin moving between 1 LW and 2 LW depending on how he pans out.
But I do like this scenario for multiple reasons one being because Q will likely not split up the Kruger, desjardins, shaw line as they are one of the best agitator/checking lines in the NHL.

Thread:
If Toews & Crawford were actually paid what they are worth
Alex you either know nothing about hockey or you're just oblivious to statistical knowledge. If you have ever played hockey you are clearly one of those players that has never understood the sport and how to play.
I will start by saying that absolutely nobody who understands hockey should even agree to disagree with you. Toews is one of the elite centers in the game. He has not played with Hossa (my all time favorite player) his entire career. They have been switched many of times from first and second line. Recently they have been on the same line almost all the time though because they are both top 4 forwards on the team because they both play BOTH ends of the ice. Patrick Kane, love the kid, only plays ONE end of the ice thus why he is a second line forward or a first line with very strong two way forwards (Toews, Hossa, or Saad).
Now I'm going to take a break from my rant to show you something:
<a rel="nofollow" href="http://blackhawks.nhl.com/club/stats.htm" target="_blank">http://blackhawks.nhl.com/club/stats.htm</a>
Please, please, please go look at these stats from the last 5 or 6 years. Season and Playoffs. Toews is in the top 3 in BOTH points and +/- about 90% of the time over the last 5-6 years. Coincidence? NO! Where is Kane on the +/- sheet each of these years. Nonexistent. But somehow in your mind he deserves way more than Toews? That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
Now I will say that Kane and Toews contracts are a little hefty. 10.5 a piece is a large amount of a teams salary for only two players. They should have take about 9.5 mil a piece and the team would be in a much better situation. However, as the salary cap continues to rise EACH year players are going to be getting payed even more money so in several years that 10.5 million while still in the heart of their careers will not seem like so much.
As for Crawford, I personally am not a huge fan because of his inconsistencies. He lets up some weak brutal goals during the season and even some times during the playoffs. BUT, he is one of the most clutch goaltenders in the league. And when it comes down to it, look at Lundqvist, clutch goaltending is what wins championships. Lundqvist is an A+ goaltender, but he is not clutch and doesn't win in the playoffs because of it. I wouldn't have payed Crawfish 6 mil though. Around 4.75 to 5.25 would seem fair to me.
Your projected team above... Makes little to no sense as their is no agitator/checking line. The 3rd and fourth lines are just a scramble of players that you put together.
