NYR going all in
I feel like there are way better and more important issues to address than an LD upgrade for the Rangers this year

229 Rangers Trade 1
I mean, if the Rangers literally can’t get any better wingers at the deadline I guess maybe. But barring a complete disaster I don’t see why they ever get to the point where Zucker is an option that makes sense. Value is fine enough though.

You can honestly get close with Buch for Lindgren as a framework.
Goodrow being bought out actually makes the team money. No need to trade away with a sweetener.
Lundell has been very bad since his rookie year. Beyond being a bad target, the price is way off.
Overall, you're better off deleting this rather than trying to tweak it.</div></div>
The Buch trade is envisioned as a deadline deal this year, and from everything insiders are saying, that is what it will take to make it happen. A Goodrow buyout causes a deficit in the 2025 offseason, which is unacceptable IMO with the contracts we will need to sign (Laf, Igor, Cuylle, and Miller). Lundell is an insanely talented young player who just needs a change of scenery to explode.

Yeah I massively overpaid Kakko here, realized that as I was finishing but couldn’t be bothered to go fix it. I don’t think Schneider takes anything longer than MAYBE 4 years at 4 mil, and I want to minimize the cost for him while also giving us a year past Trouba’s expiration to see how he does in an elevated role. Edstrom and Rempe are just too tantalizing of a pair for me to not put them together, and would rather have vesey in than brodz

Just buy goodrow out and save assets</div></div>
Schneider is getting paid now because he will replace Trouba once Trouba’s contract expires. LD is a bit weak, but its something we could upgrade at the deadline.

That is the list of LHD for next season. Why would Detroit pay 2x2nds and a 3rd for another one?</div></div>
Woah, I totally screwed up which side half those guys played. Yeah, so swap that trade with a team who would actually need a LD lmao

Possible Mittlestadt Deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tjm220</b></div><div>No, we’re not doing that. We don’t need a guy who is one more headshot away from never playing again, and that’s assuming he even comes back. We’re not talking about Pat Lafontaine here, so it’s not exactly worth the risk. Trading Mittelstadt also creates a hole for Buffalo, so they want to fill one that they need to and this trade doesn’t do that for us. Bringing in a young right handed defenseman does though. You have to give to get, and if it doesn’t hurt to give it’s not enough.</div></div>
Chytil, if he does recover, is IMO a near 1 for 1 swap for Mittelstadt skill wise. Othmann is a future middle six play driver at minimum as well, and has the potential to be even more. Again, it all hinges on what the doctors think about Chytil. Schneider is far more important to us than Mittelstadt would be, so even if that makes sense value wise, which it does, we would never make that deal because we just don’t need Mittelstadt enough.

Schneider is a non starter, just fills a gap and creates a new one for us. I think if Buffalo is confident that Chytil can make a recovery, they take it, but it’s entirely contingent on that factor. Basically what happened with the Eichel deal but this time it’s Buffalo taking that gamble.

True enough, you think swapping the 4th for our first would do it? Just think Mercer would be a VERY interesting option to slot in on our first line if the other options at the deadline don’t work out for whatever reason

Deal With the Devils
Personally yeah, I might be biased, but I think the Devils management is in a panicky state and doesn’t really know what to do with Mercer. He’s been moved all over the lineup this year and just seems to be in a really bad spot org confidence wise.

No reason the Rangers would do this. Kakko has struggled offensively this year but is picking it up lately and is absolutely key for the success of out third line in every zone.
