Caps aren't trading Alexeyev unless it's in a bigger package. Take Alex and Mittelstadt out of the deal and Washington would accept should they choose to go the route of a UFA goalie.

Absolutely no need to trade Jonathan Quick in the last year of his contract, when we have the cap space to afford $10 million in free agents even with him.

Im not sleeping on Murphy, he's an excellent shutdown dman.
LA has no major cap issues next year and will still need a 2nd goalie. Quick has been great this year for them

Long term signability would be a problem for them though so i would not if i was them. Boston has been steadfast that they want a forward of similar age and value. This fits the bill. But i think they should take a d man or pick/prospect instead. They don’t need another wing.</div></div> <div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Snowball</b></div><div>BOS does not take this, older worse player never going to happen, former first rounder for 7th rounder. I guess maybe if BUF throws in a draft pick maybe BOS goes for it but last thing they need is bottom line winger</div></div> Let's be candid, this is a bad trade for both teams.
Boston (and Buffalo for that matter) need defensemen this does not solve that problem.
Looking forward, Buffalo has other options at #2 LW, both Girgensons and Asplund have as many goals as Olofsson or Mittelstadt or Krebs could be moved to the wing.
Olofsson would be a good candidate to trade for a RHD.
As to the value, the past two seasons over 75 games DeBrusk has 11 goals and 27 pts, Olofsson over 89 games has 18 goals and 53 pts.
Unless DeBrusk is killing penalties (which he is not), that is a significant difference in their performance.
Even this season that Olofsson has been injured he is scoring at 0.64 pts/gm and DeBrusk is at 0.38 playing on a team that YTD has 11 more goals than Buffalo.
Let's look their BEST seasons Olofsson was at 0.78 pts/gm and DeBrusk was at 0.63 pts/gm.
DeBrusk may improve and regain his MoJo while I am not adverse to trading Olofsson, this is not a good deal for Buffalo.

I didn't realize he was still an RFA, that makes a difference for sure from a Sabres perspective.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ISeeDeadPeople</b></div><div>Please explain?</div></div>
Washington would be extremely happy if that's all they had to give up for Eichel. Then Kuznetsov to Rangers, the rangers don't want/need Kuznetsov. The fact that they would be giving up a 1st! and Georgiev, doesn't make sense to me. Yes, I do think Georgiev could be gone, but not in a deal like that. Chicago thinks they are trending in the right direction, so giving up Murphy, Delia, AND a 2nd rounder doesn't make sense. It's not like Murhpy has any negative value. He's one of the few RD defensive defenceman. Tampa does not want mroe contracts like Colin Miller, even if he is retained that much. I don't see a good reason for Mike Rielly to go to Buffalo.

Yeah it’s a full NMC for next year and then drops to a 10 team modified for the last 2 years. IMO, I do think the Wild would be happy to move him though. I just don’t think it’s possible until next year.

Los Angeles has an easy pass. As my esteemed colleague <a href="/users/tryger" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@tryger</a> says, we'd only trade one of Byfield, Turcotte and Vilardi. Add another center prospect like Anderson-Dolan, Madden or Thomas, a forward prospect like Kaliyev or a defense prospect like Clague, a current roster player like Wagner and the 2021 first and we'd have a deal.

I believe the Kings will only be willing to trade one of Turcotte, Byfield, Vilardi. They will add to that package but only one of their top 3 center prospects can be moved, they basically want the future 1-2-3 punch you have above once Kopitar leaves. I believe in 4-years (kopi's contract is up), Blake would prefer the cap ramifications and lineup of Byfield, Turcotte, VIlardi, X player to Eichel, Turcotte, X player, X player.

Rebuild Retool Re-Whatever Pt 1
The Canes don't need E. Staal given their current center situation. If he could move to the wing we could find a way to make it work. Drury is one of the Canes most promising prospects, so maybe don't give up him. As Don Waddell, I like the thought of bringing E. Staal back to retire in Carolina, but it is a bit unnecessary, and he would probably end up on the fourth line, and that is just a waste of value.
