Why would we need UPL when we could overpay to get HORRIBLE Vladar to come play goalie for us anyways???

Sabres are run cheap, so that would be perfect deal for 3C for Sabres going forward, I would not hesitate to trade Sammy for Bennet with 5 yrs term under 5 mil.

If Buff gets 5 of the next 6 points before the TDL
I’d take this for the Sens pretty happily, assuming they don’t get alternative offers like the 2nd + Brisson or a straight up 1st, something along those lines. a 2nd with a low chance of it becoming a 1st is decent, and a bit of time to see if Olofsson could gel with the team, get a decent look at him, or even just retaining on him and seeing if they can flip him for a mid round pick is decent value. could dicker about trying to get Buffalo’s 2024 2nd instead but that’s not worth fussing over

This isn't accurate. It wasn't that he didn't want to go to Buffalo, he didn't want to leave Carolina. He also said no to Nashville. I fully expect him to re-sign, but if they can't make the money work, there would probably be mutual interest if for no other reason than a) BUF could pay him and b) Karmanos knows him very well.

One month away from signing with any team in the NHL Ryan Johnson decided to pick Buffalo.
I cannot envision any trade that would involve him this year or in the near future.
EDIT
Let me add, he is not a throw in, he is playing extremely well.
He does not play like a first year defense man.
He skates extremely well and while the sample size is small he is defending very well.

This is pretty bad dude. As you’ve been told by others….
the trades with Philly & Boston are particularly bad (for us)
And i agree that u undervalue Jenner as well in the Cbus trade
Although I’ll say this….
IF u get the trade values of the moves you’re making straightened out, your lineup that u have us putting out there is actually pretty good imo.
The problem is just how u got there with the values imo

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gretzkyghosts</b></div><div>I would think the Capitals would jump all over this trade.
Jensen did not play an NHL game until he was 26 yo, yet his first four seasons (278 gm, 4 go, 50 pts) are remarkably similar to Jokiharju's first five seasons (273 gm, 13 go, 67 pts) before he reached 24 yo.
Not sure of Kuemper's value but a first is certainly ample.
Washington wins this trade by a very wide margin.</div></div>
Not really. Jensen isn't an offensive defensemen, so looking at his points doesn't really paint the whole picture. He's a top tier defensive defensemen who would be the perfect partner Dahlin. And him not playing NHL until he's 26 is a good thing, it means he has less wear and tear on him.
The way I see it is Jensen for 1st+Neuchev and Kuemper (with retention) for UPL+Joki

Mangiapappi
I can't follow the logic of any of the moves, which appear to be interconnected:
- If the Sabres were able to get Calgary to agree to that package of Mangiapane, a 1st and the Flames best prospect in Pelletier, all for a middling AHL prospect like Cederqvist, Adams would run and hide with the steal he got while Conroy would get shredded by the Flames fans and media.
- However, if the Sabres were then miraculously able to brainwash Briere by flipping that package for Konecny, why on earth would the Sabres send him to Calgary?

He’s better overall than Olofsson, but with Quinn out we need Olofsson’s scoring
And Mangiapane has a high cap hit for what he does
I’d pass</div></div>
Mangiapagne has more goals over the past 4 seasons than olofsson. He also plays well without the puck and plays defense

Retaining cap has value in trades, but it doesn't make a lot of sense here. PHI should be able to take on his full cap.</div></div>
Phily have no use for VO, so probably they take another half of cap hit and trade him to contender for big return. VO at 1,25 mil is worth late 1st.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BUF10</b></div><div>Olofsson is better than Sundqvist.</div></div>
It's all relative to which part of the game each is viewed in - offensively, yes, Olofsson is better. Defensively, Sundqvist is more reliable - and he brings a lot more of the intangibles (size, physicality, positional versatility, winning resume) than Olofsson.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BUFF36</b></div><div>Atleast give Krebs 1 guy that can shoot</div></div>
I lobbied for a Sundqvist signing in an earlier posting a few months ago before they re-signed Girgensons, thinking he'd provide the same kind of checking abilities and offensive contributions at same age and size but with a feistier side and more physicality, along with much-needed Cup experience with two championship teams. Even though Girgensons is now on board, signing Sundqvist for depth as a RW/C who can act as a veteran stopgap during Quinn's absence makes a lot of sense - especially if Adams doesn't want to rely on Kulich or Savoie winning jobs in training camp. AFP had forecasted Sundqvist's next deal at 3x$2.4M.....the longer he remains unsigned and given the trend around the league, it seems possible he could be added on a 1-or 2-year deal for $2M. If he proves effective, the short term allows him to stick for the 4th line if the Sabres let Girgensons and/or Jost go next summer.
Nashville has always seemed like a logical destination for Olofsson IMO - their hiring of Brunette came with an advertised need to become a better offensive team and yet they lost offensive production when they cut Duchene and Johanson loose.

Pesce
I like borgen, I would like to have him back, but if that's what pesce costs, we would be offering something better than that to get pesce. The borgen deal looks fine, borgen and a future first (which we have to assume is pick 32), for Rosen and pick 39 in what is likely a better draft. Driedger and comrie don't add anything, if anything driedger hurts the value because of his 3.5m salary, vs comrie at 1.8m. Neither is the answer for buffalo, so it's just taking cap back.

Good idea for moving up to Washington's spot, they still get a great player at 13 and they add a 25-30 goal winger for cheap. Tanev would be a good target, but don't think Calgary moves him for that sort of package. I'd rather just sign Mayfield and keep those assets. Joki can be our 3rd pair RHD and Lyubushkin the press-box manager

Ask Dean Evason - he's the one who's been scratching Addison for most of the 2nd half of the season and playoffs.....
It will be interesting to see if Guerin keeps Evason as coach or makes a change - there's no sense keeping a prospect that the coach doesn't trust or won't play.

Matheson will be too expensive by the time we are SC contenders. We need D now with contracts expiring in either 1-2 years or earning 3.5 mil or less beyond that. My hope is locking up Soucy for 3.5 for 4-5 years but I doubt he chooses Buf - hence my proposed trades for Eddy or Xhekaj</div></div>
Eddy or Savard would be how I recommend then, Montreal has cap to spare so either at half retained would be fine. Both I think meet the Vet/Grit requirement you mentioned so really depends on who you'd prefer.
