Could surprise
Don't see any point in this. Gavrikov is a rental who is going to command 5+ on the open market so mini doesn't save any money which is what they need. Going forward what will be required is cheap assets who can help them remain competitive until the buyout penalties stop. Rossi is the exact type of player they need.
If they wanted to buy sure take a look at cost controlled players like bemstrom or foudy. Cheap options who can play a role. Obviously what's truly needed is a top 6 center, but those are next to impossible to acquire. Just need to draft and develop.

if AM wont sign with the leafs
This is a big what if as it's unlikely he doesn't re-up on a shorter term deal. However looking at it as a hypothetical... LA, Chicago, Vegas and NY. Basically any big American markets. LA is a good spot as they are going to be competitive for a long time, and if money is going out the door can afford him.
Obviously this trade is off since all they get is an aging center and late picks, but the idea is correct. I assume it's Byfield, Clarke, Vilardi and multiple firsts. It would be one of the biggest trades in nhl history.
If he doesn't sign an extension around July 1 then it will be a massive story. Toronto cannot let him be an own rental, so I'm excited to see what happens.

Thoughts
Think they are finished acquiring forwards. Obviously with the 2 additions and the desire for knies, there's no need. Ideally they aquire a dman to play a shutdown role and bump sandin out of the lineup. Teams on the edge of the playoffs are going to start selling sooner than later.
Gavrikov
McCabe
Gudas
Jensen
Dumoulin
Fabbro
Are all solid options that can play some minutes
The more bottom pair option who are cheaper than listed above
Soucy
Seeler
TVR
These are more realistic. What other options are there? I'm curious to see how the market shapes out considering the number of options.

Miles wood has size and speed. You have to add to Keller to land that stud. Bad for new jersey

Honestly just can't see them giving up nemec. He's going to be a stud on their blueline. With severson and Graves going soon nemec and Hughes are the future studs there. Obviously you have to give to get, so maybe mercer++? If you want the top defensive prospect it would be a 1 for 1 like the brannstrom Stone deal from a few years ago

What about Jensen? Not sure the buzz around him. Really solid player and has been great for wash. Any rumors they keep him around to play top 4 on the right side? Guaranteed he'd get picked up if available. I do like all these moves.

Kappy is a relatively decent 3rd liner imo. Doesn't have the processing speed to go with his foot speed which makes him a non top 6 forward, but a young player having something to prove? Why not give him a shot.
Wonder if comtois or Jones get any interest. Still young, but might want a fresh start.

Who do you think you are I am
I don't think this is overly far off.
1st deal is a good idea, assume Arizona wants a first, but getting those young players would be a good lottery ticket. The question would be how teams value vrana. Young, ultra talented but has been going through a lot of issues and hasn't played. That combines with a 5.25m cap hit might make him negative value.
I really like sundqvist and he will probably get a 2nd or so looking at the recent depth forwards moved in the last week.
I've been on the same train of though as young when it comes to klingberg. He can't be this bad right? He was still top 4 quality last year so what happened? He's probably still pissed that he passed on the 7×7 from Dallas. I'd buy low considering it will cost next to nothing.
I like lankinen as he's been decent on subpar defensive squads in the past. Still young and has upside to be a really good backup. Interesting to see how many swings Detroit will make on young goalies. They've done it the last few years.

Don't think he's worth it. Prime age? The guy is almost 30. There are very few defensemen still good even around 33 because their body starts really breaking down. His prime years have been the last 3 then Florida sold high. Don't see the Leafs or many teams being interested right now. 8 years after this is a lot of commitment.

Think dumoulin might be available for trade if it falls apart even more? Seems like a guy teams would value. Maybe flip him and use those assets to get someone cheaper? I don't love what new management has done. What's the plan? Marino would be perfect right now. Now kappy gone. Boeser potential? Idk what their plan is anymore.

Kane NMC and Off Board Move
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>klassic</b></div><div>If Kane says Toronto or bust and this is the best offer Toronto makes then the Hawks tell Kane tough cookies you are finishing the season in Chicago. Better find a therapist to help you with that depression.</div></div>
I'm not saying this is the best offer they could come up with (although look at the Taylor hall trade to Boston when he said only there.... and he was actually healthy).
Chicago would be trash organization if they held Kane back from pursuing another cup with the team of his choosing. If davidson help out for a exta pick and wasted a year of kaners career you think anyone would sign with the hawks? He's a first ballot and arguably the best hawk of all time. This is not a meier situation where you are getting a player in the prime of career and would be a top liner on most teams in the league. I've been watching Kane intensely this season as he has been one of my favorite players for a long time. He doesn't look right (and has a massive cap#) Hence why I said conditional pick. Get what you can from a team where he wants to go and do right by the player.

Kane NMC and Off Board Move
I wouldn't be shocked to see this happen under specific circumstances. First, Leafs strike out on O'Reilly, Meier etc.
2nd Patty Kane says he only wants to play in Toronto (less value to be had) and give them a conditional pick based on preformance and actually playing games. Doubt this happens, but it's possible.
Seeler is very underrated as a bottom pair d. Not sure if frost moves as he's a guy who seems to have finally found a spot in Philly.

Weegar idea
Tough to get a read on Calgary. They are in an absolutely terrible position. Getting older and having less cap room with the huberdeau contract kicking in. They almost have to go all in, yet aren't good enough to get it done. I'd be curious if hanifin or tanev could be had. I'm doubtful but their contracts are more affordable for other teams.

Meier wo extension at TDL - QO outlook worst case
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vikhodush</b></div><div>Agree with most of it but morrow is considered substantially more than an okay prospect. I'm assuming meier is more valuable than those two. He's a new aged powerforward. Also they got awful value back. Especially mini got robbed. What was it late 1st and good d prospect?? I still get frustrated that's all he went for. But if you base it on that than I can get in board with this offer.

Meier wo extension at TDL - QO outlook worst case
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac555</b></div><div>I don’t think Morrow is considered a ‘okay prospect’. I think the scouting community at large would view him in an upper tier of high upside RHD prospects.
NJ has already said they want an extension first, and what are they going to give up realistically? A similar 1st + Holtz? I highly suspect they come off of their D prospects…they are going to need those guys on their ELCs in the coming years.
Vegas doesn’t have prospects and picks to trade unless they give up Brisson which I’m not clear they will.
Toronto - Knies??? Robertson??? Will they even trade their first? Will it be the end of Nylander after next year if they re-sign Meier.</div></div>
I'm probably under-rating morrow. I have difficulty rating prospects I'm the NCAA. I don't know why the sharks aren't giving permission to talk with team about an extention. You are 100% correct that they have the best prospect pool and assets to take a run at him. All the other teams are going to have to offer up multiple 1sts since they don't have the same prospect pool.
Would anyone be shock to see Vagas giving or 3 1sts at this point? I wouldn't.
Carolina and Toronto are in similar situations in terms of cap space and both being top teams in the league. They both have assets to make a deal happen (2 1st++). Toronto probably has a leg up in the race since they need a winger more than Carolina. I expect to see them in on O'Reilly/Hayes/Henrique. Good 2 way guys who fit RBs system.
I'll be very intrigued to see how this ends and what Carolina does. Honestly even garland I could see as a target. They always seem to make a big move

Meier wo extension at TDL - QO outlook worst case
Even without the extension I think he goes for more. He's already reached 30 goals on the year. Late 1st, okay prospect and next years 2nd probably wouldn't do it or Carolina would have this done by now. Honestly even the QO for him which I believe is 95% of his salary so 9.5m is not outrageous for him. So you do get him for an extra year no matter what. Worst case scenario you deal him to a team at the draft for a 1st++ who can afford him. Not sure everyone sees how valuable he truly is especially as an RFA

Trade Theory
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheRealKyleDavidson</b></div><div>Bowman likes reclamation projects. Davidson doesn’t unless he gets assets back in return. We saw that with the Nylander trade. If there is a player seen as a cap dump with a sweetener, then sure jump on that trade davidson. However, Robertson isn’t a cap dump and wouldn’t have any asset attached. I don’t see davidson pulling the trigger on Robertson.</div></div>
Lafferty, Raddysh, Dickinson, Domi are all sorta reclamation projects imo. I'm not high on Robertson but he has had success at every level. Simply can't stay healthy (done for the season). Hes a worth while buy for a team looking for young talent with potential. I didn't say he's the only asset going back.
Conditional pick (up to 1st) , cap dump and prospect seems like a deal that benefits both sides and will do right for a player that has given everything for Chicago. I still think he moves to Dallas to play with Seguin. Gurionov probably goes back in that deal as a player that could do better in a different environment.
