Guys, do you realise that there's a good chance that Calvert doesn't play again? The guy has history with concussions, missed the Dallas series, and started the season with a pink visor for light sensitivity purposes. This guy is probably thinking about hanging up his skates.

I guess that is a possibility that I haven’t thought of, I think if he’s gonna retire it could be after this season.
But idk what’s gonna happen, hoping he’s okay tho. He’s more important to this team than people give him credit for.

From what I’ve seen of Watson over his career he can bring toughness to a squad for sure, but he also might be a waste of cap and waste of a roster spot. So I’d rather play someone like Kaut or O’Connor if Calvert is out long term

No in Chicago approves this move except Stan Bowman. He’ll trade Saad at the deadline the. Resign him in the offseason for more lulz.

I'd love to have Saad back. I think CHI might give him a decent offer this summer as a UFA.

Personally I'd have loved the Avs to have made a move for Josh Anderson, before he went to MTL. Prising him out of there with the team he grew up supporting would be unlikely bar a massive overpay.

Shaking up the Lines
Nah, keep the first line intact, it's the only thing that works right now on the forward side, don't mess with it.
Landeskog-Kadri-Nichuskin were also an offensive black hole in the playoffs, I'm not keen to see that experiment again.
Also, don't be benching Byram. He deserves to play.
I do agree with introducing Kaut though.
Landeskog ---- Mackinnon ---- Rantanen
Nichuskin --------- Kadri --------- Burakovsky
Saad ------------- Compher ------ Kaut
Calvert --------- Bellemare ------ Jost
Toews --- Makar
Girard --- Graves
Byram --- Johnson

Obviously Washington says 'hell nah' to this. It's waaaay off.
I would love to see Wilson on this team though, this team could really do with some size and snarl in the middle 6 for sure.

Yeah, they should have their legs under them but let's not press the "blow it up" button just yet. As for Byram, we won't know for sure until he plays a bit more. Not everyone comes into the league as Makar did...</div></div>

Rantanen being an elite 1st line forward is huge to the Avs. By now, he should have been a 50 point 2nd line RW. Yet he's a top 5 RW in the entire league.
Makar close to being a No.1 Dman is huge to the Avs. By now, he should be a 3rd pairing OFD, or maybe a 2nd pairing OFD if we're lucky. Yet he's an elite No.1 Dman in the making.
Timmins looking like a top 4 Dman is huge to the Avs....
etc etc etc
If Jost being a bust-ish is the price of hitting on all our other high picks, that's a price I'm glad to pay.
It would be nice if he could take the 3C role, but at least we are blessed with some other guys who can make up for his shortcoming.

(COL/MIN) - Cole for Pateryn
If this was cole from 2 years ago I would say Colorado won. Now meh they still won as they got space and lets be real Cole looked out of place with that supercore
Also they got cap space, a defensive guy whose cheaper and takes less penalties, and can bring up Byram whenever.

They were the better team even with Hutchinson in net. It really came down the execution and thats even what the players were saying at camp, they knew they blew it that series and could have won, they said they left chips on the table last year and arent satisfied with it.
They weren't getting EJ Calvert Grubauer Frankie back if they won...they were going into that next series walking wounded still. Like I said you need to be lucky as well as good bc it just takes a little bit of an injury bug and it derails it all

It wasn't just the goalie that caused them that series, they didnt execute to win those games...even game 2 when they blew that lead.
Lightning won the cup without Stamkos one of their top players, that would be like Avs winning the cup without Rantanen all playoffs. Thats not an easy thing to do either.
The bubble was dumb as well, the game that Grubauer got hurt, in a normal playoff format Avs would not be playing that night as the first round wasn't even completed yet, the NHL forced that series to start early so they have a game on a Saturday. the only one. Any other year Avs would have been chilling with extra days off but instead were playing early than they should have.</div></div>

People are acting like Grubauer and Frankie are made out of glass and have a long history of injury issues....Grubauer twerked his groin when getting ran into, he didnt even need surgery to fix it and Francouz slash to the hand by Perry caused him to have issues. Injuries happen but lets not make a mountain over a mole hill.
Fluery has a worse injury history that both goalies. He is constantly dinged up missing time day to day week to week stuff. All goalies get dinged up and the grass isnt always greener on the other side

A few games in the playoffs doesnt outweigh the season, thats like saying Hutchinson had a decent season bc he played well in the playoffs. No he locked it down for a few games but ultimately fall down to earth afterwards.
Fluery is a very expensive average back up now,
