If the Avalanche could get MAF for that I would be stoked. His contract may not be great but he is still an upgrade.

Wouldn't be the worst deal ever - I assume will probably cost some prospects and higher picks if it did happen

not even close to realistic

Vegas couldnt give him away with 50% retained, 3.5m, and a 2nd for free.
No way they are going to retain less and gain assets back.

Plus fluery is a downgrade in Net. Frankie was the better back up last year. Why would the Avs help out and make their division rival better.

No hes not...Fluery was awful last year, .905 and a 2.77gga...there is a reason why Vegas went out of their way to get Lehner. Fluery isnt very good anymore

Not really, he was pretty awful last year and the signs of him regressing where happening even before last season. Hes not very good at all anymore.
He could be better but hes an average back up at this point of his career.

I do agree - but do they try and find some goaltending towards the TD, still scared by the injuries in the bubble

Well, they would the 2nd year of MAF's deal since Cole isn't on the books beyond this year but I still think they wouldn't do it.

I would think maybe they could get someone like Ryan Miller but he definitely isn't what he used to be. Injuries are scary to think about but they can happen to anyone any time. What happens if Nate gets hurt? Should they trade for PDL just in case?

Saying he is “not good at all” I think is an overstatement, when he played in the playoffs he was still decent in my eyes, but learning now I am confident in the tandem as long as they stay healthy that’s what really killed them last season.

People are acting like Grubauer and Frankie are made out of glass and have a long history of injury issues....Grubauer twerked his groin when getting ran into, he didnt even need surgery to fix it and Francouz slash to the hand by Perry caused him to have issues. Injuries happen but lets not make a mountain over a mole hill.

Fluery has a worse injury history that both goalies. He is constantly dinged up missing time day to day week to week stuff. All goalies get dinged up and the grass isnt always greener on the other side

A few games in the playoffs doesnt outweigh the season, thats like saying Hutchinson had a decent season bc he played well in the playoffs. No he locked it down for a few games but ultimately fall down to earth afterwards.

Fluery is a very expensive average back up now,

Goaltending depth and scared of Injuries has seemed to become the new Secondary scoring talking points when discussing the Avs. It keeps on being brought up even though its not an issue at all

How I look at is is if everyone is concerned about injury history that much and we need to upgrade bc of it, then why arent we upgrading Landeskog as Top line LW, he always gets hurt and misses time. If we are fine with Landys health then whey arent we fine with Grubauers

Well yes, this is because in my mind the Avalanche lost their chance for the Stanley cup because of injuries, but not necessarily lack of depth. And 13th forwards and 7th
D’S are usually pretty cheap and easy to get. And it’s not terrible to be paranoid about having a lack of depth, and like the avs it’s good to have “to much” depth.

they were seconds away from beating the stars in Regulation bc of a defensive breakdown int heir own zone, Namestinkov being a pretty big culprit in that play. Injuries happen to every team, it sucks but you need to be lucky as well as good to win the cup. It wasn't just the goalie that caused them that series, they didnt execute to win those games...even game 2 when they blew that lead.

Lightning won the cup without Stamkos one of their top players, that would be like Avs winning the cup without Rantanen all playoffs. Thats not an easy thing to do either.

The bubble was dumb as well, the game that Grubauer got hurt, in a normal playoff format Avs would not be playing that night as the first round wasn't even completed yet, the NHL forced that series to start early so they have a game on a Saturday. the only one. Any other year Avs would have been chilling with extra days off but instead were playing early than they should have.

They were the better team even with Hutchinson in net. It really came down the execution and thats even what the players were saying at camp, they knew they blew it that series and could have won, they said they left chips on the table last year and arent satisfied with it.

They weren't getting EJ Calvert Grubauer Frankie back if they won...they were going into that next series walking wounded still. Like I said you need to be lucky as well as good bc it just takes a little bit of an injury bug and it derails it all
