Playoff Push
Absolutely not trading 2 high end prospects (and more!) for a pending UFA on a heater who is 28 and will want 8 million dollars until he's 35 when we already have a 1C and 2C who are 25 and 21 years old and have like 7 options at 3C
What is with people proposing horvat to buffalo? It actively destroys what we are building

Hughes demko offseason trade
Ah yes let's trade a #2 overall draftée, another 1st rd pick and their captain star center for a defender they have no need for and one of the league's worst performing goalies so far this season.

Wood will get more just alone on a QO.
I don't think you are far off in most places otherwise. I'd imagine Bernier is LTIRed, not buried and they go after a Husso or someone like that.
I'm also not on "rush Luke Hughes" train....he's still super young. I get he is dominating, but there is far more to go with development for defensemen. Let him go the Makar route and take at least two years (not to mention Luke was even younger in college as he doesn't turn 19 until September). Top 4 time would be tough.

Switch Danault and Byfield. The latter is still learning.
Lemieux, Lizotte and Kaliyev have exceeded all expectations and are a great fourth line.
Clarke comes up before Grans; Spence may come up before either one of them.
We're still looking for a high-quality LD, as your construction shows.

I don't think Yzerman will sign Koskinen. If he signs Zadorov it will probably be for half that salary and term. Hertl would make more sense on a 5 yr/ 8.5 million contract if he will accept it. Zadina will probably sign for twice that amount for a few years. You forgot to sign Soderblom.

The backup is gonna be a guy like that. They're all the same really. Jones or koskinen or wedgewood or bringing greiss back. Kos is fine with me. We'd all take hertl on that deal. Zadorov, idk but he's an upgrade to what's been over there. Love cole, take him any day .

Here's the trade breakdown:
To MTL: Sebastian Aho, 1st rounder, 1st rounder, 1st rounder, 2nd rounder, 2nd rounder, 2nd rounder, 2nd rounder
To CAR: Karl Alzner</div></div>
yes, it might be too much to ask even for Alzner, you could make one of those 1st conditional on Carolina resigning him to a long-term deal after his current one is up. If he walks for more money elsewhere, Canes keep the pick.

He's not elite but he's extremely durable and teams need players they can count on to not miss time with injury - he played 8 straight seasons without missing a game. That alone is worth Aho, 3 1sts and 4 seconds. Steal for Carolina really, a lot of picks never pan out.

Vegas laughs... Minnesota trade maybe if they think they are in a small rebuild but doubt they take on Backes without retention. And I doubt Dallas take on Krejci as they are finally getting Spezza off the books and doubt they want to add another 7+mil older center.

Vegas is not trading Tuch to alleviate cap issues. Haula, Eakin, Reaves, Holden are all on final year of their contracts and taking up 11m in cap space. Prime candidates. I messed around with a Tuch deal too. Just not going to happen. Would be nice though. Would be great fit for RW2. Even if they would consider it. That offer gets laughed at.
Don’t want to use Kuhlman to move Backes.
They will have to move Krejci at some point in order to keep Krug. Canes have 3 2nds this year. 36, 37 58. 2 of them would be nice. They’d have to find a taker for Staal but there is potential there. If they want to do big things this year. Doubt it though.

Like said in the move, the team doesn't matter. It can be ARI, or some other team.
And I think they can actually afford to do it. Otherwise they wouldn't rumored to be after Duchene, or possibly be taking Marleau.

Trying to remain competitive after unlikely scenario
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kill_Barson</b></div><div>schmidt and Eakin aren’t enough for Subban. Try Tuch or Smith, Nashville needs forwards not defensemen and Cody Eakin isn’t that good.</div></div>
Eakin had more goals than any other NSH C last year. And he's considered more as a defensive center. He has pretty good value, especially when half retained. Could be a very nice 3C, or possibly even 2C if Turris doesn't get any better.
Also NSH saves money in the move as well.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MacerV</b></div><div>Value favours Vegas considerably in the Leafs deal in my opinion. Haula was no where near replicating his best season in terms of pace.</div></div>
Haula had problems all year last year with his knee I think. He could have a bounceback after a long break. Ofc this is just speculating, but you could be huge winner at the deal. Also you receive a nice RHD in the move as well.

Talbot has had two poor seasons in a row now. I'm not sure I want him on this team regardless of his friendship with Hart.
