That is a good point.

That said, you could probably use the pick to get one of the BOS goalies.</div></div>
Mangiapane is not worth much. I don’t know why Calgary seems to think he is worth a lot?

The Jackets need a C that can help anchor this team. Johnson while he has the higher ceiling, Rossi plays a more important position and can help now.

Not for Marner. If this was for Matthews, this is a good framework. But Marner is 1 yr from UFA. He is not guaranteed to sign an extension and even if he did, the Jackets need a C not another winger.

That is about the dumbest idea ever. Yeah the Jackets give up a budding young potentially superstar player just to rid themselves of a contract they could just as easily buyout…

Slightly disagree. The Jackets are not likely to give up assets to get rid of Elvis. Buyout is the most likely option. No one wants Elvis and I don’t blame them.

Tuch is slightly more valuable but Jenner can play C and is good at FOs. I wouldn’t say “no comparison”.

Buffalo Sabres 2024-25 Playoff Roster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Viqsi</b></div><div>The rule of thumb for determining a viable Jenner proposal for Sabres fans is as follows:
Ask yourself "Would this package be acceptable for Alex Tuch?"
If NO: It is not acceptable for Jenner.
If YES: It <strong>might</strong> be acceptable for Jenner, but don't hold your breath.
The reasons why y'all wouldn't want to trade Tuch are largely the same reasons why we don't want to trade Jenner. And when I say "we", I include not just fellow Jackets fans, but also CBJ ownership, the CBJ front office, and Jenner himself - repeatedly, publicly, and explicitly.</div></div>
Beautifully written.

Already drinking early, eh? No but seriously the Jackets trade really doesn’t make any sense. Jarnkrok does nothing for the Jackets and I am pretty sure Gudbranson is fine staying where he is at.

Laine is better than Norris. While both have had a hard time staying healthy, Laine when healthy has the higher ceiling and the shorter contract. Ottawa would need to add.

Whoa! Lazy…Laine has actually gotten better defensively while in Columbus. The only reason to trade him is that he possibly wants to move on and he has had injury issues. But when he is healthy he has been decent defensively and pretty effective offensively.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CaseyFlyman</b></div><div>I actually agree here, but it's splitting hairs. A cap dump requires the dumping team to be up against the cap. With Price on LTIR, Montreal is still $10+M away from that. Ex: Kampf has more value than Dvorak, but because Toronto is way up against the cap, Kampf is a cap dump.
He's not a "cap dump", but he's definitely not an asset Columbus is interested in. We might claim him off waivers for free to try him out as veteran depth, but we've got plenty of bottom-sixers. No need to actually pay for more.</div></div>
Ok, maybe not a cap dump per se but he literally has no value and would likely take him going on waivers to get him to move. But the Jackets are not interested in him. And we certainly are not giving any assets for him. 🙂

I don’t know if I would agree. That 2nd is more like a late 1st. Really it depends on what the trade accomplishes for the Jackets. The Jackets would not be retaining anything on Laine’s contract. That money could be used to secure via FA or trade for a true 1C. Not saying it is great value but could be appealing if their is an ulterior motive.

Dvorak has underperformed the past few seasons and has been injured a lot. He isn’t worth his cap hit. At this point he would be a cap dump to the CBJ. Maybe not in your view but in the CBJ’s view it would be.
