Buffalo Sabres 2024-25 Playoff Roster
The rule of thumb for determining a viable Jenner proposal for Sabres fans is as follows:
Ask yourself "Would this package be acceptable for Alex Tuch?"
If NO: It is not acceptable for Jenner.
If YES: It <strong>might</strong> be acceptable for Jenner, but don't hold your breath.
The reasons why y'all wouldn't want to trade Tuch are largely the same reasons why we don't want to trade Jenner. And when I say "we", I include not just fellow Jackets fans, but also CBJ ownership, the CBJ front office, and Jenner himself - repeatedly, publicly, and explicitly.

Columbus has no cap crunch. They'll just keep him if the only offer is a second and a player who'd be sixth on the depth chart at his position for the Jackets.

Deadline mania
Absolutely not a snowball's chance in hell from the Jackets. You've got the picks going the wrong way and even then it's an easy no; the idea behind Provorov being here is that he's a stopgap we'll eventually move on from to make room for developing kids, and instead you have us committing much more cap space and money and more term to someone who's basically the same except he's smaller and has a concerning injury history.

Really it depends on what the trade accomplishes for the Jackets. The Jackets would not be retaining anything on Laine’s contract. That money could be used to secure via FA or trade for a true 1C. Not saying it is great value but could be appealing if their is an ulterior motive.</div></div>
It's an ok return, if the new GM decides it's time to be competitive, he can't trust Laine to stay healthy, and the $8.7M can be used elsewhere.
I'd rather keep him. Next year isn't the year to go for it, so it makes more sense to keep him and hope for a bounceback to either increase his trade value or cement him as a longer-term contributor.

What if
I don't really see the point from Anaheims perspective. We don't need to be getting a 3rd center with a top 3 pick.
Is the gap between Zegras and KJ covered by the separation of Celebrini to Lindstrom? Probably, but I also ask why CBJ would do this when it's known they could use another top 6 C. This just feels like shuffling pieces around for sh*ts and giggles.
I also fail to see what bringing up Gauthier has to do with anything.

I don't understand why Columbus would think to do this. Even if Kent wants out ( rumours) you would not miss on Celebrini even if you are wealthy at centre.

Celebrini is projected to be a franchise player. Zegras, Johnson, and Lindstrom are probably elite when it's all said and done, but not franchise cornerstones.
If we get 1OA for the first time in franchise history and<em> trade it</em>, I'm personally moving the team to Arizona.

What kind of absurd nonsense is that pathetic excuse for a Jackets trade? That wouldn't be considered for anything short of a perrential Vezina contender on a sweetheart deal; expecting Mackenzie Blackwood of all people to carry that kind of value is homerism of the worst possible kind. You should be feeling deeply ashamed for ever even considering posting such garbage.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jacketsman61</b></div><div>Which is the reason why the Jackets aren’t trading him🙂</div></div>
He's equally as likely to be traded as Larkin.
Danielson, Edvinsson, and 2024 1st is rich for the player, but it's also not far off from realistic for how much it would take to make Columbus <em>actually</em> part with a guy who, at 26, is already the franchise's all-time leader among D-men in goals, assists, and points, regularly the best player on the ice, and likely next in line for the captaincy.
It's a little like the Boone discussion: yeah, the player is worth X, but to <em>actually </em> get him...well, how attached is your GM to his job?

Jenner isn't available, according to CBJ fans, Jarmo, and Darren Dreger.
If he was (and ignoring Danforth), a 1st, top prospect, and additional piece of 2nd-3rd round quality is probably close...but for a team still trying to pull ourselves out of a rebuild sooner rather than later, the pick has to be 2024 and the prospect can't be just an okay RD prospect (we have SO many already).

My major concern is it opens up a massive hole at 2RW, especially when we're going to have at least two top-6 centers in a year or two with Sillinger, Fantilli, and Jenner. Try it, but don't commit to it if it's not working.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>The_Cannon</b></div><div>Introducing yegor chinakhov!
If he sticks at center that gives chinakhov a shot to play legit top 6 minutes. He looked good in his showings last year. I’m excited to see what he can do this year.</div></div>
The other option is Roslovic. We already know he and Laine work very well together. Could be interesting to see what happens with Laine as his center.

Must not be jackets fans then. 2nd, third, and fourth round picks don’t do much for the jackets anymore. They have one of the best prospect pools on top of the youngest roster in the NHL. They are going to have a tough time finding sports for the guys already in the system they don’t need more picks. What they need are young players like sillinger who can produce on ELC/RFA contracts. I think for Kuz to not have negative value he needs retention as we’ve seen with the market for old and overpaid centers this off-season. I think kuz is worth more to the caps than the return he will get by being traded so I doubt he’s traded this year

Lindholm for wright

How is Lindholm not established?
SEA is pretty much in their window right now and Lindholm is 28. It's not like he's some dinosaur.
I think if anything, SEA needs to seriously add to this trade... it's definitely not a 1 for 1. Wright has only 8 NHL games played and is in no guarantee to be anywhere close to Lindholm at any point in his career</div></div>
Simply put, you don't trade elite upside prospects for 1 year rentals. If Lindholm was 25 with 4 years left on his deal, maybe. I personally think Lindholm is overrated and was carried by Gaudreau and Tk tho, which is more evident in his dropoff on their departure. Not someone you trade a top prospect for at all.

This is true. Though I think it would be easier to buyout Suter as his cap penalty is only around 750k for the first 2 years and then 1.4 million the final two. I don't know if they'd be able to convince him to waive his NMC to Columbus either, as they are a smaller market team with unproven potential. Though with the current offseason moves Columbus is looking to be a lot more competitive again.

the only team with surplus cap

There's a not unlikely situation that it's nobody. Blankenburg is waiver exempt and they could run with 2 extra defense 1 extra forward instead of the usual 2 forwards 1 defense. They could have Werenski, Provorov, Severson, Jiricek, Peeke, Bean, Boqvist, and Gudbranson at the start of the season while they test Jiricek out. If he's not ready then he goes back to the minors and they're left with the other 7 for the season and Blankenburg as a call up option or regular rotation depending on what Babcock wants each night. If Jiricek does stick then they could field offers as the season goes on and teams take injuries or they take a couple themselves that eliminates the need for a trade.
