I think PLD to MTL is a done deal
I don’t think it’s a done deal, but with all the reporting that Dubois supposedly submitted a list of 5-6 teams he’d sign long term with… being very public taking pictures with a bunch of Habs players really makes you feel like this list of teams looks like this:
1. Montréal
2. Habs
3. Canadiens
4. Le Bleu-Blanc-Rouge
5. La Sainte-Flanelle

The case for trading back
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JeffFromMontreal</b></div><div>This is a super tough one to call!
One on hand, some teams may value the Russian as a top-3 talent in this draft and may want to move up to get him at 5, willing to pay a good price for it. But the return would be only in potential and not young NHL-ready talent. So if you're rebuilding and already have lots of middle-6 and 2nd-3rd pairing young talent, like the Habs, do you go for the high risk, high reward Russian or do you accept that return of 2-3 assets that may be safer, but with a much lower ceiling?
I say swing for the fences and draft the Russian!</div></div>
I hear you. Glad it's HuGo making the decision and not me.

2023 Habs trade value
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheRealisticGuy</b></div><div>I disagree on so many players
Hoffman Drouin Dadonov & Armia should be in negative value without salary retention
Hoffman Drouin & Dadonov could be worth a 4th or less if MTL retained half their salary
The value for Monahan is fine for him half retained, full cap he isn't worth a 2nd + B prospect
Dvorak & Edmundson are probably spot on
If the rumors are true, that's too low of a return for Anderson</div></div>
I found the second and third sentences of his Team Description contradictory, so I went with the third sentence; I assumed that he didn't want to put in retention figures for everybody because then some pedant would pipe up that "you can only retain on three players at a time, dolt."
Seeing as how every single rumor about Bo Horvat's ultimate destination was wrong, to pick just one case as an example, I don't put much stock in any "report" separated by more than an hour from the event's actual materialization. So I'm quite skeptical of the parlay that (1) someone offered Hughes a first for Anderson, and (2) he turned it down.

2023 Habs trade value
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JeffFromMontreal</b></div><div>I would have to see it to believe it. I know that there were rumours... but I doubt Habs turned down a First for Anderson. My guess is that they're looking for 2 pieces to come back. Of course, if the pick is a late first, then the prospect could be a bit less important. So 2nd Round + B prospect or Late First + B- prospect...</div></div>
It has been all over the news lately and unless the GM of either team comes out and says the Habs turned down a 1st we can only assume the reports are true since the insiders usually have good information. Now the caveat is that maybe the 1st had conditions Hughes didn't like or was too far in the future to be worth it.

You had him for a 1st only; I suspected a 1st and a B prospect at best.

3 Trades that Could but Wont
Armia isn’t an upgrade on our 3rd line rw. Armia has had a sharp decline in production. This season is terrible but even last season he’d be on par with the much cheaper and younger yakov Trenin. Armia doesn’t compare favorably to jeannot.
Chiarot isn’t worth spending any futures on from Nashville as we don’t need him. If he’s actually good (he isn’t), Montreal should keep him because their defense really needs the help.
Weber isn’t worth much to Nashville as has been discussed to death around here and elsewhere.
Price isn’t healthy. His contract is atrocious unless he comes back and plays out the rest of his contract playing like he did in the playoffs. Unfortunately, his play the past couple regular seasons wouldn’t get most teams into the playoffs…. Just look at edmonton to see what bad regular season goaltending does to ya. Hoffman is one dimensional at best. I see the Seattle trade as a new team giving up younger players and picks for capdumps.
I personally hate Gallaghers contract. I don’t think he was worth it when he signed it. His production since signing it has shown that it was a bad choice by Montreals gm.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JeffFromMontreal</b></div><div>So, what you're saying is that I make all Habs fans look bad? Jeez, thanks. But I think their are plenty of morons that can come up with stupid things by themselves...
Anyway, If you read everything that I posted, you understood that those trades could be good ideas, but will never happen. I am NOT saying they are realistic in the present context, nor am I saying they'll 100% happen. What I'm saying is that they would all make sense, from a hockey/business side of things. Price to Seattle makes perfect sense, but will not happen because of Price's health issues. Armia and Chiarot to Nashville with Weber's contract would be a good fit. And Gallagher to Anaheim to give them some grit/leadership would be nice as well.</div></div>
I didn't say you make Habs fans look bad. But bad proposals, like this, do.
They make sense for Montreal, but not the other teams getting fleeced. There's a difference. They "should happen" for Montreal. Not for anyone else.

The other trades are also really bad for the other teams that are not Montreal. Gallager trade is dumping a contract and somehow getting a top winger prospect and a high second. Seattle is giving up a top young player for two contract dumps? There is absolutly no way that they give away those assets. Because it really is giving them away.

? Preds ownership says no because they have to pay that money. They must keep the prospects because Nashville is most likely moving towards a rebuild. There is also no way they move L'Heureux when they drafted up to get him.

Anaheim, Nashville, and Seattle all reject, and it isn't close. I'm a Habs fan - proposals like this make all of us look bad, so quit it.
Comtois has a higher upside than Gallagher, is cheaper, young, and drafted by Anaheim. They could be interested in Gallagher, but nowhere near that price.
Weber is not retiring - he is owed millions. He isn't terminating his monthly payments. He has no value. So, two firsts and Myers for Chiarot and bad contract Armia? Hell no.
SEA could've had Price for free, and passed. why would they, a terrible team, give up a young center, their number 1 goalie AND a first round pick, for him at 9 million and under performing Mike Hoffman?
Put yourself in the shoes of other teams before you propose brutally lopsided deals like this. Cmon

Also Armia would not be worth what is essentially half of Zachary L'Heureux because of his contract. He is a good player but Smashville is in no place to deal out future assets especially in a cutthroat central division.

One of the reasons why you may be confused by the phrase "flushed out" is that the actual idiomatic expression (which is probably the only one in any translation software) is "fleshed out."
It means "more fully developed" or "with additional details."

These are actually fairly reasonable? I'd kinda like to see this flushed out more just to see what a civilized Montreal AGM looks like.
I'd recommend you spare us the Price trade though depending on the cap dump returning to Montreal.
