(VAN/MTL) - Pearson, 2025 3rd (VAN) for DeSmith

WENT WUGHES W

Pearson was activated from LTIR not too long ago and can't go back on it until he hurts himself. Trade's really an expensive depth piece for a cheap backup, with a pick to bridge the salaries. Pretty fair deal.

Pearson isn't LTIR, he's been skating and is cleared to play. This trade doesn't happen if he was to ride LTIR with complete confidence.

Edmonton Oilers signed Evan Bouchard (2 Years / $3,900,000 AAV)
This will be excellent value for the next two seasons.
I’d call this a win in the sense they got him signed and nobody offer sheeted him. This puts EDM best window for the next two years before Bouchard and Draisaitl get very very large raises.
His next deal could be higher than Nurses

It's a good contract, even if he doesn't improve. Plus, he's still an RFA at the end of it.

Waaaaaay too small of a sample size to give Hagel a contract like this. A 2-year bridge deal around 4M would've been more appropriate.

The perfect replacement for Bergeron or Krejci or Hall or Bertuzzi or Orlov or Clifton or Foligno or Hathaway or Nosek or Reilly.
The Bruins are gonna hit another level this season !!!!

Pens after Guentzel come back Tatar add

Quoting: Jeremy_Go_Pens

Maybe. But it's a different scenario at this point. Look at Dumba contract. Less than 4M. No one expected that in the beginning of FA. But, right now, most teams have much less cap space. If he want to get more money, he'll have to play for a non-contender. I don't think any contender will give him more than 2M or 2.5M at this point.

I think we're on the same page here. Dumba is very suspect at this point. I didn't think his offer was a big surprise at all. It's a prove it deal. Tatar is a bit different. He's more proven. Yes, I think $2-2.5M for him sounds about right. If he was good with $1M NY or NJ could handle that now. I think NJ would take him back at that price. He may be waiting for teams to finish up and clear space which will happen here very soon. Several others are in that same boat.

I assume Tatar will get 1 year x 2m. But I do agree Pittsburgh is a perfect fit.

Tatar wanted term with Devils…likely asked for $4m range. I could see maybe $3m on 1-year deal…$1m would be a steal.
One the better possession style wingers around.

Tommy Tatar would be a good add. You know you're getting at least 20 goals from him.

Trading Gibson and Add Dumba

Quoting: Jded

Goodness. Someone feels very passionate about this one
Have to agree with Giggy though. Ducks can’t add another undersized Dman so Bryson is a bad fit, and I don’t think Gibson can pull in a 1st right now. Do I think he’s worth it? Yes. But do his stats support it (especially considering his cap hit)? No, not at all. Ducks need to put an NHL defense in front of him so he can show what he’s capable of before he nets a decent return

Good points
I agree with you. No one is gonna give up a 1st for Gibson with his 4 straight years of down numbers. He might very well still be a good goalie, but (to your point) no one is gonna pay up like he is until he shows it again- especially not with his contract
And that’s just ONE facet of why this trade wouldn’t happen
