<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Xspyrit</b></div><div>This DeBrincat situation has gotten so ridiculous. Even with the worst GM, Ottawa will get more or less what they paid to get him. It just depends on the market at the moment because that's how the reality works, not because what <em>"everyone outside of Ottawa"</em> on the internet thinks lol

And based on the Dubois trade, there might be a high demand for a 25 y/o top line forward

What is funny is that BEFORE Ottawa acquired DeBrincat, I clearly remember these proposals where some were asking for one of Pinto, Greig, Sanderson (sometimes 2 lol) + a 1st and some other good prospects. The reality is that many are quite bad at evaluating markets and have limited hockey knowledge too.

The "down year" thing is also overstated. Not only proven players with a long track record (14th most goals in the NHL since he entered the league at 19 y/o) don't lose their value after just 1 season, but even in a "down year" where he played with a rookie Center (who had just missed a full season) and a Winger who has had his own problems (big injury, WJC 2018), he scored <strong>only 12 pts less than his career high</strong>... Imagine if he played with Stutzle and Giroux all season? Easily PPG IMO

What is the difference exactly with Dubois contract situation, or many other guys traded before?

The reality is that DeBrincat is still RFA, one year removed from being worth a 7th OA + 2nd + 3rd (and everyone thought it was a steal). He will most likely be traded with an extension in place, like Dubois

Yes size is certainly a factor but I haven't read anyone think he'll return as much as Dubois. However, I have seen plenty of stupid proposals (like 2nd + 3rd or Zadina + 2nd) :tearsofjoy

That is just because Dorion said he won't be able to get a 1st BEFORE the draft. Some people's logic and reasoning is quite lacking

ok wait, so I am curious, and what do you think it means? What is your logic telling you?</div></div>

I sincerely apologize for taking up so much space in your mind. I know real estate in Ottawa is expensive, but apparently Red Wings fans have been living rent free.

All i was saying is your initial offer was way to much. Take out Ras and it’s close (I like Savage but it wouldn’t be a dealbreaker for me).

“Everyone outside of Ottawa” refers to the fact that only sens fans think that they are going to get a haul for Cat.

Yeah, Cat is great and I don’t think his lower numbers are an indicator of him slowing down. But it is a factor that gives other GMs leverage over Ottawa. That and the argument of “he can’t score without Kane” (which I don’t agree with) lessen the Sens leverage.

Yeah he’ll be traded with an extension in place, but PLD had a bigger list of teams he’d sign with. From what I’ve seen, Cat has a list of 4, and only 1 has the cap space and/or picks to pull it off.

2nd and Zadina for Cat is low but it’s just as absurd as all of the Raymond and a 1st/1st, 2nd, Berggren/ or 1st, 2nd, Rasmussen takes from Sens fans. The NYI or BOS 1st, a 2nd, and Zadina seems to be a common middle ground.

He could have meant he won’t get a pick before the draft starts. Or he could mean that he doesn’t expect to get a 1st in this draft. It really could go either way.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Xspyrit</b></div><div>- I know some Wings fans on here seem to think that Rasmussen is the new Brady Tkachuk but not super thrilled about this. 1st + 2nd + Rasmussen makes it worth it but I'd be more interested in the 17th OA or Berggren as the main piece

- Joseph vs Mantha... we`re adding 1.3 AAV there but Joseph has elite PK results and is good defensively. Mantha could make this worth it but he`s so inconsistent

- Killorn AAV is very high, I'd rather invest in a goalie to help out Forsberg and keep Sogaard/Merilainen in the AHL

- Ridly Greig is 100% going to be there, and will be a high quality 2-way forward right away. His advanced stats even though a 20 games sample size were quite impressive. But nothing surprising when you followed him in the WHL, AHL and WJC

lol like IF this was outrageous

You guys and reality :tearsofjoy

Like Jets fans have been with Dubois return yeah :sarcasm</div></div>

Obviously Stutzle isn't a good comparable. The point is that almost everyone outside of Ottawa believe that the absolute best the Sens will get for DeBrincat from Detroit would be 17OA, 2nd, and Zadina. Most believe it will be less than that due to the circumstances of Cat coming off a down year, has a murky contract situation, and Ottawa has no leverage. The Sens GM himself said he doesn't think he'll get into the 1st round.

PLD is not an equal comparison because of various factors. At similar ages and production, a 6'4" center is naturally more valuable than a 5'8" winger.
