I was thinking that too, but Talbot is getting old. 34 now. They could sign someone for less money

Solid offer but I think they ask for Caufield instead of drouin. Being in the same division makes it tricky.

I’m not sure a package of ritchie and Debrusk gets a 1st.
I think Krejci and tuukka could probably be gotten for less, and would rather see Reilly back than oleksiak for that amount. Hall probably gonna get a little more AAV and less term, also don’t want to see bernier. There’s better options out there

Good point. I use that same logic when people try to completely write off Debrusk. I still think he can be moved for a more consistent, more talented forward (or some good picks, I’ve had some AGMs with him getting traded for 2nd + 3rd). I still think it could be beneficial to move him, but he’s also not this worthless offensive black hole that people think he is now

Tarasenko
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CMcAvoy73</b></div><div>On Tarasenko: I get that, but i mean, he’s a sniper that’s scored 7 goals in the last two seasons. That’s just tough to put much value on. If STL wanted to grab a first rounder and move on from him, I think it’s an interesting concept. If they want to eat 50%, and go for real value, I also think it’s an interesting concept.
4th line: that 4th line stinks out loud, and it’s mostly because of Kuhlman. I just don’t see the appeal, and he definitely isn’t a LW. Bring back Kuraly. Simple, easy, effective.
D: don’t care about the analytics when it comes to d men. Literally zero. That D is thin, and still lacks the shut down guy. Reilly would be better suited for third pair (and that contract is too much). You could find better than Merrill, and then throw them up with Carlo.
Ritchie is not an NHL hockey player. He is flat out horrible. Whats worse, he’s lazy. Lazy players can’t be counted on to buy into the system. It was a major lapse of judgment to dress him in the playoffs, and it may have cost them a chance to play against tampa. Don’t qualify, don’t mess with him, just see ya later. I would be pissed if they brought him back at league min.</div></div>
I get the feelings about ritchie, it just seems that they like him too much to let him go, I tried to incorporate a little bit of what I think will happen (they bring him back) plus what I want to happen (tarasenko).
We’ll have to disagree on Kuhlman, I thought kuraly sucked last year, but now that I think about it my reasoning for them brining back ritchie is probably the same reason that they’ll bring back kuraly, my preference was kuhlman but if kuraly can have a resurgence then sure.
On merril, I don’t think they’ll find someone better for that value, he’s always been a pure shutdown D and they already get plenty of offense from McAvoy grizz and Reilly. Reilly I can see getting as low as 2.5, he did have 31 assists so they won’t get him back for pennies. I know points isn’t the best way to evaluate players, but it does get them paid regardless.

I like the idea. But a few problems with the contracts. Reilly is for sure getting more than 1mil, Ritchie probably getting at least 2, give Wolff 725k, senyshyn 925k, Tuukka probably gonna be around 5mil, not a fan of 2.5 for oleksiak

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CMcAvoy73</b></div><div>Seems like a lot to give up for a guy that’s been a shell of himself, but i kinda like the concept, especially if you shore up the D, ditch ritchie, and put together a decent fourth line.</div></div>
Yeah I honestly wasn’t too sure what the value on tarasenko would be, he’s still been elite when on the ice but injuries have plagued him the last 2 years. I might’ve overpaid but when making a team I’d prefer to overpay than underpay on a guy.
I’d argue that the D and 4th line in this would be pretty good, lazar was the life of the 4th line and Kuhlman looked effective when he played, the question mark is Frederic.
For the defense, Merrill analytically was in the 99th percentile for even strength defense last year, they were missing a true left handed shutdown defensemen and I think he can greatly fill that need. bringing Reilly back is a must, he fit perfectly with carlo.
I was kinda going back and forth on ritchie. He had a decent regular season, I think getting him back for 2.3 could be a bargain, but worst case scenario it’s only a 2 year deal so they could find a way to move him next offseason. 1x2.3 for a bottom 6 forward shouldn’t be hard to find a taker

Well in this scenario if coyle has a problem playing on the 4th line then he can sit in the press box instead.
I was debating on what to give ritchie, I think that would be a little too low but around 2.5 is what I think he’ll get
I didn’t wanna put tuukka on LTIR because he’s going to be returning during the season and they’d run into cap problems

Sorry but this is pretty atrocious. Hard no on the Philly and seattle trades, Pittsburgh isn’t doing that, buying out coyle is a terrible idea, edmonton trade is completely pointless, that much money for Kase is bad, 3.5 for ritchie is too much, re-signing lazar is a must

Marchand, Bergeron, Pastrnak, Coyle (unless he waives NMC, protect smith), Graves McAvoy Carlo Grzelcyk Vladar

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MelonVK</b></div><div>So - what I suggested, was to sign a contract without comparison, not because the market for it is established, but because there's value to be extracted. The raise in question comes because he's approaching UFA status, not because he did anything in particular the last year or so.
Sign Kase 1y x $3M? pointless, but in my scenario you get 4 years at that cap hit. What if his health returns next year, he explodes as the numbers indicate he could, and you get 3 more year at that cap hit?</div></div>
Sure there’s that upside, but why do that when you could probably get him for 3x2.2 instead? He’s barely played the last 2 years, hasn’t been too productive with the bruins, absolutely makes it reasonable to expect a salary decrease for him. There’s no reason to give him a raise when they could get him for much cheaper on similar term. You have to play and be productive to get a salary raise in the NHL.

They have no reason to go 4-4-1. McAvoy Grzelcyk Carlo are the only ones they need to protect.
It’ll go something like Marchand, Bergeron, Pastrnak, DeBrusk, Krejci, Coyle, Smith, Grzelcyk, McAvoy, Carlo, Vladar.
If they can convince coyle to waive his NMC for the draft since seattle probably won’t take him anyway, replace him with Ritchie/Kase

DeBrusk for futures is not the mode this club is in.
* As per Tampa get NHL assets back and win now, or keep him until deadline and upgrade for playoff push.
If this attempt ^ ^ ^ fails - then in 2022-23 start the re-build in a stronger draft and load up on picks for that class.
PS: No Freddy....</div></div>
DeBrusk was a cap dump. Being tampa also means being smart with your money. In order to add Coleman and Saad to this lineup, DeBrusk had to be moved. He’s not a consistent lineup player and he’s making 3.6. Moving him for futures while they still can allows them to actually have some cap flexibility to make the team better.
For Frederic, I wanted him to put him at 4C, but I think that’s a move that will end up happening later in the season. Coyle loses his 3C spot and now the 4C is his job to lose as well.

What I would try to do
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MelonVK</b></div><div>So I think Seattle will probably pick him up because they have a competent department for statistical analysis. Do you measure player skill by the amount of goals they score? cause if you do there's nothing to be gained in this discussion, because we're so unbelievably far apart, and if you don't - I don't know why you would use that as an argument.</div></div>
No, there’s more to it than that. But, forwards with more months missed to injury than goals scored do not get paid 3mil under any circumstance. Why do you insist that they pay Kase way more than what he’s worth right now? He’s played 18 games with the bruins. He hasn’t been productive with the bruins. What in your mind has he done to get a raise? I’m a big analytics truther, I know he’s not bad, but if you can’t stay on the ice and can’t produce when you are on the ice, that doesn’t get you a raise. If you’re so confident in that, find me one comparable situation.
