That's a big ten four on the lowball, but I'm fairly sure KoekKoek wont be top four this season.

Kuch won't and shouldn't sign for 5M. He is worth 6.5-7.0M. A discount would be in the 5.9-6.3 M range.

Decent deal
Deal out Coburn or Callahan and all the sudden you open up opportunity. Or buy them out.

Decent deal
The Johnson/ palat problem will continue to be an issue , we could lose one or both. Everyone thought Yzerman lost his mind when he offered Stammer a 8.5 M deal, it worked out. A very telling signing was Killer's at 4.45 M, it insinuates no resigning for Palat or Johnson. If Yzerman can get them to agree to 4.5-5 M each it may work out, who knows.

They didn't just resign Coburn, its a couple years old. Garrison is has a NTC. Callahan is great at forechecking and is defensively competent , he's alright.

Shadow for substance
Look, I've been a Lightning fan since 1992. I love this team, but Vas will lead us to the promised land. I love Bishop, but he has been injured on us a few times when it really mattered and Vas hasn't disappointed. Bishop is a great asset for trade right now and as he ages due to his size he will continue to struggle with injury most likely. I say trade him while we can. As far as Nichushkin wanting to be in tampa, you're absolutely right, I don't know. it would be interesting, I think Bish is done in Tampa. It would help to lockup a bigger contract also. I feel you on the Bishop deal, especially his puck handling ability.....

And please believe me, I do not want to see Kuch go at all. His deal will just be richer than Johnson and Palat.

I agree with that, one thing is for sure, Yzerman has a tough job locking up the core in Tampa. I'm not sure you can lock this core up... The Stamkos and Hedman deals really concreted that fact, then you got killer at 4.4 M, Vassy at 3.5 M, if it weren't for Cally and Filppula's rich contracts it may be doable.

JVR would extend my problem, I couldn't afford to resign him. He would put my other guys in hock. I understand where you're coming from. I need a decent rental and would then most likely have to develop a replacement .

The idea is to get offensive contribution out of a one year rental player in Jagr. This will allow for resigning Drouin, Palat or Johnson. He is just a rental. If Kuch signs, we cant sign Johnson or Palat. Kuch will be 6.5-7 M, Johhny and palat should come in at 5-5.5M. The Jagr deal is novelty , and I still believe he could contribute.

Big Ben has to go. Coburn needs a buyout. So does Garrison. I'll tell you what hurts Tampa is these over inflated Callahan and Filppula contracts, I love both players and they bring a lot more than offense, just a little rich. Also, I hate it, but we will have to shed one or even two of either: Johnson, Palat , Kucherov and Drouin.

Big Dallas trade
When Johnson resigns he'll need 6-7 MIL. In order to keep Kucherov , Johnny has to go. This also will make it possible to resign Drouin. I think the players I traded for are capable, competitive players. Big Ben is done in Tampa after this year, where exactly do you perceive this as bad for Tampa? I guess I could have a pick or two, or even a different player, but ultimately , this really isn't that bad.

With Giordano
I don't feel as though you're overvaluing Palat and Stralman, I think that is a good trade. The team you built here would make it very hard to resign Johnson, Drouin and Sustr. With a Ben Bishop trade and possibly a 17-18 Coburn buyout, this team could really work.
