Yeah, to clarify, I don't think it'd be crazy for him to get that return, I just don't think he's worth it at all, and think it would be a terrible use of assets for Ottawa.

Getting Over The Hump
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Josh4</b></div><div>My thought process is were missing one more legit top six winger and we would have Makar,Girard,Byram and Toews to fill out our top 4. The only reason I personally would be against it is that were expecting Landy back for the 24-25 season but the cap is expected to be 88Mill then. I think Hyman would fit in well in the avs top 6.</div></div>
The Avs need someone who can play down the middle. Outside of MacKinnon, that’s looking very thin right now and Hyman’s contract hinders the Avs ability to finally answer their 2C question. Your thought process on defense is fine but Manson has a NTC and I doubt he’d waive it to go to Edmonton.

Realistic 2023 Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Josh4</b></div><div>That's why the avs would rather just keep him. I'm not saying he's likely to be moved but stay with colorado. Why would the avs move their second best dman when Giraid is inconsitant and Byram is injury prone. Only way they move Toews is for a player with term.</div></div>
Because IMO they need more help up front then on the back-end
You disagree and I don't think you are wrong, and Toews probably won't be move

Toews was 8th in norris voting last year while Roy wasn’t even give a 5th place vote. Also Vilardi has had one 30 plus point season, while newhook is younger actually plays centre and has had two 30 plus point seasons. Not a chance the avs even consider this.

Can't see LA doing this, but it's certainly something different to think about.</div></div>

Trading Matthews to LA
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Josh4</b></div><div>My point is I don't see what Toronto would want from LA that's fair value that's not Clarke. I doubt Toronto want's several players that can'f fit in there roster. LA won't be the only team interested. Literally almost every team in the leauge will be. This isn't a patty kane/claude giroux situation where they can trade him to one team only. I also don't agree that they will automatically trade him even if he is undecided on resigning. The leafs would for sure shop him but if the value is not there, they'll just run it back with him for his last year. It's not unheard of for teams to go into the last year of there stars contract without an extension and risk him walking (stamkos, JT). Matthews is a proven top 5 player, Clarke is a NHL prosepct that hasn't proven anything at the NHL level, could be a bust or could be a superstar, there's risk there. I'd except the trade to be Clarke ++ for Matthews. The trade posted here would be realistic trade value for AM.
Whether LA has an extention means nothing to Toronto, but means everything to LA. Toronto has there minimum return they expect for him. If LA doesn't meet that then the leafs trade him elsewhere or keep him.</div></div>
The problem with your POV is you can't understand that Matthews trade value is purely as a rental in every possible scenario and LA is not going to move Clarke (or Byfield) for a rental.
Also Matthews has a Full NTC kicking in on July 1st so it could absolutely be the same as Kane or Giroux.
I agree that Toronto's best course of action is to not trade him at all and try as hard as they can to extend him, but you have to understand that 1) Matthews can not discuss contract extensions prior to July 1st, and 2) Matthew holds pretty much all the cards after July 1st.

Nylander can walk after one year. Devon toews would be the player the avs would centre a deal around for nylander. Both are on one year contracts.</div></div>
Toews MIGHT be a guy they would centre a trade around for Nylander and even then top 10 D far outweighs a wing so the Leafs would be adding significantly.

New top 6 forward
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Josh4</b></div><div>Granlund is also owed 11m over the next two years so it only saves them 3 mill of real money. Also could see a bidding war for Schmaltz, as he has a fairly cheap contract for 3 years and if teams are trading for him to use as a 2C they'll offer more then this.</div></div>
No, I posted above the difference. If you count just the next two seasons Schmaltz is owed $15,950,000 compared to Granlund's $11mill, but that final season of Schmaltz's contract he is due $8.5 million. So the total over the next 3 years is 24.5 million due to Schmaltz or my proposal of $11 million to Granlund with pick 14 and a 1st round selection from last year.

Hawks have two rookies, Vlasic and Phillips, who need ice time on the left side. And Hawks are all about weaponizing their cap space to gain additional assets for taking on bad contracts. Neither of these deals does that.

Boone jenner trade value Is he a landy replacement
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bcooke</b></div><div>Love this idea as well, but price is steeper than that. Probably 1st + Newhook + more. I don't really understand why he is considered untouchable. Sure he is a really good player, but not quite at the level I would consider untouchable. I know Columbus was bad, but a 29 year old putting up a 45 point, -32 differential in 68 games doesn't scream untouchable to me.
For reference, 2016-17 Avs season was arguably worse than Columbus this year. The 3 guys that Avs would consider untouchable in that season produced the following:
MacKinnon - Age 21, 53 points, -14 differential in 82 games
Rantanen - Age 20, 38 points, -25 differential in 75 games (1st full season in NHL)
Landeskog - Age 24, 33 points, -25 differential in 72 games
Similar or worse production while being significantly older than those 3 were at the time. Add in the fact that he's not on the same timeline that Johnson, Sillinger, and 3OA are on, it doesn't make sense to me that he would be untouchable. But CBJ fans are welcome to flame this if they want.</div></div>
The point isn't that he's the best player on the team. It's the intangibles. Even terrible teams who deserve to be contracted like most Colorado fans think of Columbus need leadership. You think Johnny Gaudreau's captain material? lol. Jenner took an extremely team-friendly contract to stay and be captain of the Blue Jackets. He wants to be here, which is more than you can say for a lot of guys. It's a cliche, but his value to Columbus simply exceeds his trade value for any other team.

What is Vasys Trade value
He's untouchable to the point even if he Bolts are stuck in the worst of the worst cap hell situation, Kucherov or even Hedman will get traded before Vasilevskyi.
He's 1 of 2 actives goalies that has shown who can carry his team in the playoffs without much support ,but with Carey Price's current state, he's pretty much the only one who can do it right now and for the foreseeable future. (maybe Shesterkin can join this list)
