<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Buffalove</b></div><div>Not true really
What you’re saying makes him tradable, but that doesn’t mean we are gonna “sell low” on a proven top6 scorer
I know for a fact that they want a 1st for him
Like we’ve BOTH said, his production this season makes that unlikely
So from what I’ve heard, I’m putting 2+2 together & making the leap that we won’t dump him this season
We can always just do it at the deadline next year & most likely get more for him
And if he craps out next season as well (which i doubt), then what we’d lose out on from trading him now likely won’t be all that much</div></div>
They wanted a 1st for Colin Miller as well, but that doesn't mean it is going to happen.
It's entirely plausible that being stapled to Eichel's hip the past 2 seasons has inflated Olofsson's production and without Eichel, Olofsson is just another decent middle six winger.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Buffalove</b></div><div>His play THIS SEASON doesn’t merit a return of a 1st round pick
But that’s doesn’t mean we’re gonna “sell low” on him
He’s been playing through an injury that’s caused his production to drop
Why would he go to ARB when he’s having such a down season statistically?
So yes, I’d advocate we meet in the middle on a 2 or 3 year deal
But even if he does go to ARB….
It makes a heck of a lot more sense to wait & trade him at next year’s deadline, when his stats will surely have gone up
And if he signs a multi-year deal,
then we have more time to decide to trade him or keep him & sign him long term
No reason to just dump him now for whatever we can get though
That just doesn’t make sense
Sabres have talked about potentially moving him bc of the return he could bring
If his lack of production has caused his value to drop,
then i highly doubt we move him right now
That’s just based on what I’m hearing
To my knowledge, they haven’t made up their minds on him yet</div></div>
Simple answer: He goes to ARB to get a guaranteed one year deal at a minimum of $3.25M and he gets to be a UFA after next season, having full control of where he goes.
The Sabres have talked about moving him because he's an empty uniform too often on the ice and he's not the style of player they're looking for on the team moving forward.

And I’m fairly certain Olofsson STARTS with a 1st
They don’t wanna “sell low” on him
So it’s likely we give him a bridge deal & possibly trade him in the future when he’s healthy & his stats go back up</div></div>
I've seen you make this same comment multiple times.
How has Olofsson's play this season shown that he's worth a 1st round pick, let alone a 1st plus anything else?
Further, he has one year season left before becoming a UFA, so what bridge deal are you talking about? He could choose ARB and take a one year deal and be gone after next season.
When are they trading him then, at next season's trade deadline, or are you advocating for the Sabres sign him to a multi-year deal after this season?

If this is my choice, I'm taking a shot at a franchise center with our pick, so the right d you mention, that might be able to step in right away, I'm not picking them. My reason is that we have solid left d talent, I would try to find a couple defensive right shot d, to complement the left d. We don't have a #1 center, we won't find one anywhere but the top of the draft.</div></div>
Samuelsson's skating has greatly improved.
I wouldn't draft either RHD over any of Wright, Cooley, or Savoie either, but the Sabres may not have a choice by the time they pick, and Nemec is damn good.
To me, the top 6 in the draft are Wright, Cooley, Savoie, Slafkovsky, Nemec, and Jiricek.

I'd move Samuelsson to RHD, Johnson to Rochester to start (he has played RHD for Minnesota), and I'd either trade Bryson or keep him as a 7th or 8th defenseman.
It would be good on the job training to pair Zadorov with Samuelsson.

For sure on it being an offseason move and not one during this season.
I was quite perturbed when the Sabres selected Poltapov instead of Morrow with their initial 2nd round pick.

Why regarding not signing Zadorov as an LHD? They don't have a defenseman that plays like him, and one or both of Samuelsson and Johnson are going to be moved to RHD. That's not counting if they draft Nemec or Jiricek.
I think the only way any forward signs is if they get an extra year, plus the high AAV of course.
The cap limit will be $84.5M in 2 seasons, at least.

Morrow is one of the best prospects in the league. Mitts has struggled in the NHL. I'd be more than willing to take a flier on him. But at this price? No. Morrow has been a deal breaker for Chychrun, Eichel.... he's developing at BC at the same rate as Cale Makar did.</div></div>
I was wondering how long it was going to take someone to point this out.
Of all the moved I made, that was the biggest stretch to me.
How about Mittelstadt for Ethan Bear instead? Is that more realistic?

My thought with the Olofsson trade is it would happen by this coming trade deadline where the Sabres would retain for this season if needed, and he does have one year of RFA eligibility left. I don't think he'd cost more than $4M per, if that.

For sure, but Buffalo has money to spare (still only $6M over the cap floor despite the overpay), and the only way they're getting free agents to sign is by paying them more than any other team would.

Hinostroza also was a good producer during his 17 games with the Hawks last year scoring 4 goals and 8 assists.
I think he signed with Buffalo because Granato was the Hawks assistant coach during the '17-'18 season.
Since the Hawks made moves to compete this year, I was surprised that they let him go.
Kane is the only Hawk RW who has more points than Vinnie this year.
Buffalo made much better UFA signings than they did last year.
I was happy with Pysyk, Hinostroza, Anderson for the Sabres as well as Mark Jankowski, Michael Mersch, Ethan Prow and Jimmy Schuldt for Rochester.</div></div>
When you're right you're right, and you're right about Hinostroza compared to Eakin.
Funny how watching Hinostroza has been less impressive then his point totals.

You did a good job on not expecting too high of a return at the TDL.
It would be a great TDL if Buffalo could do this well.
Signing Campbell is certainly a possibility, I do not think Letang will leave Pittsburgh.
I find it curious that nearly every Sabre ACFM values a player scoring at 0.5 pts/gm lower than a player who had a horrible 2020-'21 and is averaging 0.33pts/gm.
I have had this discussion but only 161 players are scoring at a faster pace, that makes him a solid 2nd line producer.
I should mention, that most comments from non Sabre ACGM think as you that he will not return much.
<strong>So your value is the expected return </strong>but IMO he is worth more, maybe Karmanos can convince another GM to offer more.</div></div>
I'm missing which 2 players you're talking about above regarding your point production comments.

It's for this current season, as I outlined in the Team Explanation section.

It's just a guess as to Miller's trade value at 50% retained by the Sabres.
