Easiest offseason
I think we have to try and move Steen and bring in one more Top 9 forward. I'd also like to maybe upgrade Edmundson.

WPG CBJ Trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jetman</b></div><div>pay for 2M of Steens contract and the Jets will do this trade.</div></div>
With retained money, Steen has some value.
He's not really showing the expected decline in production for his age and he's always been known for his defensive play.
P/60 last four seasons at 5v5: 1.51 -> 1.57 -> 1.39 -> 1.52
I know it doesn't make the most sense for WPG to add a forward when they'll probably have to rid themselves of someone like Perreault <em>if they don't</em> add anyone. WPG is just the easiest place for us Blues fans to speculate where he would go since he has a NTC (that he has apparently used in the past) and connections to the Peg.

Opening night lineup
Sure is gonna be nice to have 3 scoring lines instead of a 1st line and a bunch of bottom six guys eh. I like these lines - depending on how Thomas looks, he could either slide onto the Schwartz/Schenn line as a winger or possibly become the center there and move Schenn over to RW.

ROR isn't enough alone
Really hoping that's enough for RoR. I really don't want to give up Kyrou or Thomas. That said if were able to add one more piece - like a Maroon I'd like or chances for a solid season. Maroon might be a good fit with Schenn and Schwartz. Then it would give us some flexibility with the young guys on the third line.

I love Mark Stone but don't think Sens would part with him. They've pretty much said he's off the table. Simmonds could be a cheaper option to play with former teammate Brayden Schenn and Schwartz

Getting the Captain's buddies
Far and away the most terrifying top 6 in the league if this all went through. Would split up Pacioretty and Tarasenko though.
Schwartz / Tavares / Tarasenko
Pacioretty / Staal / Schenn
Of the deals, the Zuccarello deal looks like a maybe from NYR. Might be a yes since he's only got a year left on current contract.
The Patches deal could get derailed if another team comes to the table offering a better "now" roster player. It's a good value package in my opinion.

He's sharing the crease in Philly if he stays to be with Allen. Simmonds and Elliott for Tage Thompson and Jake Allen. I like it.

Larkin for 1C
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ktaaffe8</b></div><div>Larkin is all potential. If he’s a 63 point player a year then this deal is a considerable overpay. He’s been in the league 3 years. I think his peak will hover around 70points so I believe this is a fair trade and likely favors DET since Parayko is young and established and Allen is a young starting goaltender (aside from January when he is invisible). Also Kyrou who could potentially score 50-60 points a year in a few years</div></div>
Yes, and also the price for a RHD is expensive so tbh I’d ask more from Detroit or simply take out Kyrou and use him in a deal to get a scoring winger.

Not bad at all. Detroit gets a real good defenseman, a good prospect and a goalie who is locked in. If anything, I don’t think the Blues are getting enough.

Larkin for 1C
Red wing fans will make you think that Larkin is one of the best players in the league, but fans of the other 30 franchises realize that while he is young and incredibly talented his career high for points is still 63 and when you are, as the Wings are in this proposal, getting an established top pair dman (or at least top 4), an upgrade/slight salary relief in goal and a top prospect who could probably easily exceed 63 points, I don’t see where the speculation even comes in. I think it’s a no brainer, the wings would be so much closer to winning if they did this.

He struggles with consistency, but I think he can be in the same mold as Klefbom. His offense could see a boost and he's not afraid to throw his body around. I'd obviously prefer Parayko, but if you move Parayko for Severson and maybe someone like McLeod, I'm not sure i'd necessarily do it, but i'd consider it.</div></div>
I believe it would have to be separate trades, so Parayko and barbashev / sanford for Drai and then schmaltz + sobotka + Thompson / pick for Myers or Ceci. I would love to get a top Center but I love parayko..

I think some RHD's that would be decent in replacing parayko to play on the 2nd pairing would be; Ceci, Myers, Tanev, Severson, and Braun with the last 3 being the hardest to obtain. I would prefer Myers out of all of them, WPJ has a log jam at RHD with Buff and Trouba, so if we did trade Parayko for Draisaitl (or another top center) he would be a suitable replacement.

Trading Parayko
I feel like at this point in his career, Green is better off as a 3rd pair guy with PP1 time. That's a lot to pay him (almost as much as Parayko, and he won't provide the same quality of play as Parayko). The bigger concern though, is Green's health. Dude's only played 82 games 1x in 13 seasons; he's played in something like 75% of possible games. Parayko has missed 3 games in 3 seasons. I like Drai but I don't know if we would be any better if we lose Parayko. Just my opinion at the moment, I've seen this trade before and thought "hell yeah where do I sign" haha.

Reasonable and Promising
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BeastModeUnknown</b></div><div>Your saying Amry will trade every prospect for a bunch of rentals? And Jake Allen is better than Robin Lehner.</div></div>
He got rid of a ton but he kept Thomas, Kyrou, Foley, Walman, and some others, and he made age-appropriate improvements that would deepen the current core so that we can compete with guys like Tarasenko, Pietrangelo, Schwartz, etc. in their prime and not have to wait for 5-6 teenagers to develop into players. If it were possible, I'd be all for something like this.
Allen and Lehner is probably a matter of opinion considering Lehner has had to stop pucks in front of a dismal team for most of his career. The bigger problem with Lehner is I think we'd have to qualify him at 4m or he would become a UFA... so we're not saving money, but we would possibly be into Lehner for one fewer year than we are for Allen, depending on his contract.

Blues don't need to add a prospect for Marner even with a year left on his ELC. But as a Blues fan, not sure I'd make this trade anyway. Marner looks great, hasn't shown anything in postseason the last two years. I'd go for a more established star like Draisaitl before Marner

Kostin, Thompson, and 1st for O'Reilly in my eyes.
Like I said previously, O'Reilly is a younger version of Stastny and more expensive. Why not just resign Stastny and save a few million bucks in cap space if JT doesn't work out(which it won't work out for the Blues)?</div></div>
TBH, if a trade is a good for both sides it should be a 2.5 star lol. I think this checks out

And I also would not consider Parayko, Thompson, Berglund, Allen to be young powerhouses. I LOVE Parayko (have his jersey in my closet), but I believe we need a change and maybe need more of a high compete level. Parayko is always calm and relaxed, but maybe we need players that will spark us</div></div>
Just commented on someone else's page. I think Yeo is the problem with Parayko. He doesn't use him the way he should. He gets middle of the road PP time, always being paired with Dunn (who is good but is more of the same as Parayko) or Bouwmeester when he was playing and is consistently not playing the man and out of position. Ryan Suter, who is an extremely effective all around defenseman, looked horrible playing with Yeo. Speaking of terrible systems, Tarasenko is being played on the point when he should be playing circle down where he's more effective.

I would love to get OEL to play WITH Parayko, maybe there is another way to acquire him. Bouwmeester still seems like an immovable object to me, but he seems like a good pro and might oblige if mgmt were to ask him to waive his NTC.
If we sign JvR I'd try to pry whoever schemes TOR's PP along with him (Jim Hiller?). It's not a lack of skill/personnel that plagues us on PP, it's the system. JVR might be a dud in our current system (Schenn had 17 PPG last year... 8 this year).
Not sure if we could talk WSH into taking on Berglund. They'd only move Holtby to be able to afford Carlson, and they just extended Eller who is essentially a Berglund clone.
Judging by Armstrong's reaction last night, my guess is that he's very aware of the flaws of this team (that he created). He should be seriously working on removing Berglund, Allen, Sobotka - no matter the cost - and bringing in some real winners that can complement our next crop of young players.
