The only nylander trades
The Caps will not be doing that. We’re entering a rebuild and would much rather keep Wilson than have to pay what Nylander wants on an extension and Pay a 1st to do so. No Thanks. Regardless of how the value is perceived, the Capitals will not be doing this.

Trotz helps out WSH retool
This is ****ing terrible for Washington. Kuznetsov and Barrie are basically a wash. WSH wants Barrie as little as NSH wants Kuznetsov. Fehervary alone is worth more than the rest of that entire package from NSH and why TF is WSH adding a boatload of picks. Absolutely horrible.
Fehervary is a 3D at the NHL-level and has been so for several seasons. Glass is a 3rd liner at the NHL level at best at this point. McCarron looks like a career AHLer. Obviously a 3rd and two 2nds are worth much more than a 4th.
There is literally NOTHING in this trade that WSH actually wants or needs. Barrie? Please, Barrie is a Cap Dump and WSH does not have any need for him.
How does this help WSH rebuild? McCarron and Glass are unlikely to ever be consistent Top 6 players.

What are you talking about? Kuznetsov is a little over one (1) calendar year older than Hertl. If anything the length of their respective deals is a positive for Kuznetsov far more so than Hertl.
Kuznetsov is also signed for this season AND next.
Is literally anything you said correct? For good measure you also misspelled Kuz (where’s an “n” in there?) so didn’t even get that right.

Hank Lundqvist is a First Ballot Hall of Famer so he's more of a winner than Tom Wilson who won't even be sniffing the Hall. Kreider sure but there's still time since he's on a competitive team and not a poverty one like Washington. And Hank Lundqvist is the Capitals' daddy. He's a primary reason why you guys failed to get Ovi more Cups. Truth hurts</div></div>
Lundquist can ask to see the Cup the Capitals won while he visits the HOF, that’s as close as he’ll ever get. As for the Rangers, their rebuild failed the second a more youthful Devils team sent them packing, lot of good Panarin (and Kreider) is doing you. I’m sure it’ll work out next time, or the next after that, or the next after that….

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Coachchippy</b></div><div>It's so funny that you say "everyone has told you so" when you are the literal only person on this thread to have mentioned the Caps. Everyone else is talking about the Devils or Leafs. So that's you being delusional.
I don't care that the Caps won't make that trade. It doesn't impact my life at all. It's actually so funny that you're this worked up over a ACGM proposal. Don't worry man, I'm not working in the Capitals front office. These are all hypothetical scenarios. And I approached this hypothetical scenario from a pro-Ducks standpoint so I'm not sure why you are obsessing over the Rangers who weren't even mentioned in this proposal.
I'm not sure if you're aware of this but Gretzky was a Ranger for all of 3 years, you dummy. He already got his Cups with Edmonton, AKA the team he was on the longest. How many generational talents have the Rangers had for their entire careers in the last 83 years -- on the same level as people like Crosby, Kane, Toews, or Ovi? Exactly. So it's pretty funny that you're deflecting to the Rangers when the situations aren't comparable at all, just because you are (rightfully) embarrassed that you wasted almost two decades of Ovi's career. Maybe you could have done right by him, had you made it past the Rangers in 2012, 2013, or 2015. But you didn't. So sad. And now his legacy pales in comparison to those of Crosby, Kane, and Toews. Pat Maroon is more of a winner than Ovi.</div></div>
Rangers still suck. Your proposals are terrible and nobody thinks any of your trades are good, you’re just consistently horrible at ACGM with a bunch of trades that would never be accepted. Just look at the responses in this thread. Stay Salty and pathetic.
BTW by your logic Tom Wilson is more of a winner than Henrik Lundqvist (and obviously Chris Kreider) so eat it Bozo.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Coachchippy</b></div><div>Being a mentor during a rebuild is different than centering a rebuild around someone. So that's all I needed to hear. You don't know what you're talking about
You continue to display your own ignorance when you bring up Stamkos in the context of a rebuild. That is never what I suggested. You bring in Stamkos if you're hoping to make a couple more pushes at competing while Ovi is still around. Since it's pretty embarrassing for the Capitals that they only ever got an ALL TIME GREAT a single Cup, whereas contemporaries like the 2010s era Hawks and Penguins got their guys 3 Cups.
But even following your own logic, it would be totally fine to bring in Stamkos during a rebuild. Any mentorship he'd provide would be way more useful to young players than what injury prone Wilson has to offer. Wilson isn't even a pimple on Steven Stamkos' ass</div></div>
You’re delusional. The Caps aren’t making this terrible trade you suggested. No matter what **** argument you want to make nobody trades a Top 10 pick before they’ve even played their first game in Training Camp for a 33yr old declining vet. You suggest bringing in Stamkos for “ a couple more pushes at competing while Ovi is still around.” That’d be great if it wasn’t stupid. Stamkos is signed for one (1) season. He’s not anywhere near worth what you’re suggesting and everyone has told you so. Pretty embarrassing for the Capitals that they’ve only won ONE Cup with Ovechkin while the Penguins and Hawks won more Cups with multiple HOFers? That’s a sad suggestion. How many Cups have the Rangers won in the last 83 years? How about when they had Gretzky? Face it every argument you’ve had on this subject is stupid.

Sorry that you are blinded by homerism and can't see this</div></div>Get over it, the Capitals have practically ZERO Salary Cap commitments beyond three years. They’ll have a panacea of Cap Space. Signing a guy who has won a Stanley Cup to a Seven Year Contract at $6.5M to be a mentor during a rebuild is shrewd. Your insistence that Wilson’s signing indicates that the Capitals strategy is flawed is just foolish. He’s a fantastic guy to have around during a rebuild. If the Caps are going to rebuild who’s a better bet today; Leonard and Fehervary or Stamkos. You know the answer stop trying to make excuses that belie your own common sense and expose your pathetic self-assurance. Keep up your stupid argument, again everyone disagrees with you.

You said the Capitals should have chosen a single guy to build around like Kreider. That’s asinine and a tacit endorsement of the Rangers strategy. I’d prefer to think that the Caps were smart enough to capitalize on a dirt season and get the best pick and best player they’ve had in over a decade. Now that they have him, they’re going to try to surround him with other high picks to eventually turn the page. Nothing the Capitals have done suggests they’re holding onto nostalgia. Fortunately they will rebuild while a legend is still playing beside the young guys, it’s something I’m personally complete Here For.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Coachchippy</b></div><div>Extending an almost 30 yr old Tom Wilson for another seven years immediately comes to mind. You don't do that if you're rebuilding.
Rebuilding "on the fly" doesn't work. Look at my Rangers. You either commit to it or don't.
Caps should have picked one player to re-build around. In the Rangers' case, that was a 26 year old Chris Kreider. Everyone else from the previous era, Henrik f***ing Lundqvist included, was eventually sent away. As a fan it sucks to watch but it needs to be done for the greater good of the team. If the Caps want to rebuild unfortunately they will have to sell the farm in order to get picks. Resigning Wilson indicates that they aren't doing that, and want to stay semi-competitive while Ovi is still around. Similar to the situation with the Penguins.</div></div>
This is absolutely false and an abjectly poor and stupid read. Tom Wilson re-signed for $6.5M and is a fan favorite and comparatively young. He’s a guy you keep around during a rebuild. Trading Leonard or Fehervary for a single season of a past-his-prime Stamkos is asinine, full stop. Stop trying to defend it.
Are you arguing that the Rangers rebuild has been successful? You just lost to the Devils in the 1st Round of the Playoffs. Guess how the Devils built? Through the draft and by keeping their high picks. I know it sucks that the Rangers high picks all seem to be busting, guess it just sucks to suck. Don’t expect other teams to try to follow that path. What happens when the Capitals trade Fehervary and Leonard and Stamkos doesn’t re-resign or retires? If you think this is in any way defensible you need to get your head checked. The Capitals will try to surround Ovechkin with players that can help him break the Goals record, they are not trying to make the Playoffs nor are they going to overpay for vets that they can’t keep around during a rebuild. It’s back to the Drawing Board for you.

I mean the Caps are either rebuilding or they aren't. If they do in a few years, Fehervary is probably going to be sold off and Leonard might be too. It would be one thing if the rebuild already started and you said no to giving up Leonard. But might as well still compete while you can</div></div>
What moves that the Capitals have made recently indicate to you that they’re NOT rebuilding? Clearly the team is rebuilding on the fly.
Stamkos is 33 will be 34 when his contract is over and he makes $8.5M. I doubt he takes a substantial discount on his next contract which means the Capitals can’t and won’t be extending any players over 35 for a next……well, ever.
For a team that is clearly entering a rebuild, trading a young, cheap Top 4D and a Top Prospect on an ELC for a guy who is 33 with his best years likely behind him and who is only signed for a single season is likely one of the stupidest things I’ve ever seen anyone propose on this site or anywhere.
